Greeted with a smile the ladies were so nice and polite the food was delicious we had the chicken with salad and hummus the seasoning on the chicken was perfect I ordered stuffed grape leaves the rice inside delicious everything was cooked to perfection can't wait to be back to try the meat selection, my new favorite spot in Haven city.

This is one of the many restaurants located inside of Haven City Market. I'm sorry to say it, but I don't like this place at all. The food looks so good, which is why I hadn't given up on them and tried different menu items, but I can't find anything I like. It's kinda pricey too. The wait for the food is always long, and what I get at the end of my wait has not been worth it.

Located inside the Haven City Market, neat food hall that offers a little bit of everything. We ordered a chicken shawarma salad ($14.99) and a beef shawarma wrap ($11.99). The salad was excellent; the wrap was a bit skimpy. Thinner than I am used to. All the flavors were excellent. If you can find someone to share a wrap and half salad is a great portion size! Service was friendly!

Staff is friendly. Food is made fresh to order. I ordered the (1) chicken kabob plate with double salad. It comes with (probably the best hummus I've had) and a warm pita. The single kabob was plenty for me. I cleared my entire plate and was stuffed to the brim! There are a few tables and chairs reserved for Baba K, otherwise plenty open seating int he surrounding area. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be back myself (I do wish they would add tzatziki to their delicious menu ;). Thank you!

My daughters and I were at Haven City Market on a Monday night. It wasn't too busy. We wanted to try something different. I've been wanting to try Baba K Mediterranean foods for a while now so here was our chance. We got the chicken kabob plate. Funny, receipt says "kabab", but menu says "kabob"... I guess it doesn't matter. It all means the same thing. We waited for a little bit actually, but it was well worth the wait. Chicken was very moist and tender... seasoning was on point. Tumeric rice was soft and fluffy. Btw, you can get fries instead of rice. Salad with citrus dressing was refreshing. Hummus was surprisingly smooth and very yummy. White onions had some seasoning on top of them that I still don't know what it is... it was good though. Garlic paste was delicious. Pita bread was okay... it appeared to have come out from a pre-packaged bag... wished it was homemade. Overall dining experience was wonderful. Staff was nice. Prices are reasonable. They have designated tables for Baba K customers only. They were kind to allow us to eat other foods here, too. Yes, we ordered from 3 other food vendors, too LOL. Thank you! I highly recommend Baba K!!

We were craving Mediterranean and found this place in a back corner. Thankfully there was no line so we got our order fast. We tried the chicken shawarma plate over fries. The fries are cooked to order, so it was piping hot when the plate arrived. Chicken is piled high over the fries, and comes with a side of pita, salad, and hummus. The portion size is generous for the price. I thought the meat was on the drier side, which is why I took off a star. The fries themselves are unseasoned. I feel if the chicken is served on top of fries, then it needs to be saucy enough to drench and flavor the fries. Otherwise, I would serve the fries on the side and season them separately. But overall I would come back. They even have a couch for seating!

I came here for lunch, which was just shortly after they had opened, so I received my meal fairly quick. I've been to quite a few other Mediterranean spots, and this one is by far the best in the area. The chicken was moist and packed with flavor to perfection, and fresh salad made with an herb dressing to complement it. Unlike most other locations, that the food is made in haste, this food is made with hands who have a passion for cooking. Every bite feels like a meal that was prepared by a loving aunt. The woman, presumably one of the owners, kindly recommend the rice which was a great choice indeed. The hummus had a light taste, and far from that card board taste you get from major store brands. As someone who typically hates yogurt of any kind, I can only say I wish I had more. My only complaint is I didn't order more for later. I highly recommend this location, located in the corner inside Haven City Market.

If you're not middle eastern then I'm sure you'll like this, if you are middle eastern then you most definitely won't like this. Absolutely no flavor on the chicken even though it looks like it's crazy seasoned. The hummus is way too salty and didn't have good flavor. It's my second time here, food was great, no question about it, filet mignon cooked medium rare to perfection. The only difference is this time my to go order had a tip option which I didnt have to do before? Another work lunch from the Haven City Market. I am actually quite picky with Mediterranean food. For a food court restaurant, this place is pretty good. I get pretty disappointed with Falafel in the U.S but this Falafel wrap was solid. We also got the Beef and Chicken Schwarma wraps. They looked small so I ordered two of each one per person but they are really filling. Most of us, even our big guys didn't get to the second one. We will definitely try it again when we're in the area! read more

Just because I'm a huge fan of Mediterranean food, I wanted to give this place a try. I ordered the chicken kabob plate and I was pleasantly surprised! The chicken was well flavored and juicy. Most importantly, the portions were bigger than I was expecting, which was a huge plus. The people at the counter were very welcoming, so I'm definitely coming back here next time at Haven City Market. read more

This place will be putting Rancho on the map. If you're hungry and want to eat food with FLAVOR. Then this place is for you! We had the beef & chicken shawarma plate. Each comes with a choice of fries or rice and a slab of the World Famous Hummus. Ok I know I'm super excited about this place but seriously you can go wrong on the food. Yes it's the first week they opened so there system and processes will be tweaked until the dust settles. But like any new establishment it takes time. The bottom line how was the food and service? 5 stars for both! As busy as it was they still greeted us and thanked us for coming and that goes along Amway. I'll be back to review some of the other dishes like the Kabab (which is there name Backward ). read more

Today was madness. The grand opening of Haven City Market... The food was REALLY GOOD. We did the combo platter for 2, and it was a lot of food. Very tasty. It was lamb, beef, chicken skewers, hummus and pita, salad, and rice. It was served in a catering tray. Definitely a great deal at 26 bucks. We did end up waiting for about a half hour for our food... But today was just super busy. We cannot blame them - they were working their butts off, people were not super forgiving, people went missing after placing orders, etc. Will absolutely be back to HCM and will certainly get this delicious food again in the future. read more

The family who owns the place is very sweet and remembers my family and I when we come back. And we frequent it. My mom and dad usually split the plentiful filet mignon kabobs with veggies platter and usually still have enough greek salad and hummus for me to steal. I LOVED the wrapped beef shawarma! ** WARNING ** if you wanna TRY the unwrapped beef or chicken shawarma, you need to arrive around 5-5:30 pm and toward the end of the week and weekends as close to 5 pm as possible. Food is good, service is decent...sometimes. If you have your heart set on chicken shawarma or beef shawarma, you're pretty much out of luck . They're pretty much always out of both because they won't make enough to last even close to closing time. They'll tell you to your face that if you want shawarma to come before 5 (NOTE: CLOSING IS 9 PM!!!) So they know they'll run out but won't adjust their prep to last at least till close to closing? So odd. So if you work or are busy in any kind of way, or you just want shawarma for dinner...don't bother fighting the crowds to come here. read more

I've come here about three times and always get the chicken kabob plate. Food is made to order so expect a small wait :). Combo comes with hummus, salad, rice, and pita bread. Chicken has always been soft and juice! Definitely worth the wait, they give you a pager so you can always check out other stands while you wait! read more

We love this place and visit often, however, this past weekend (7/2) we had a bad experience. We waited over 30 minutes for our food (they were not busy like usual). I went to check the status of our food only to be told by the person who took our order (Delilah), that our ticket had gotten lost (??). No apology/accountability, just simply "we lost your ticket". Meanwhile, I have kids hungry waiting for their food. We're big fans of this establishment, never had a bad experience, but this definitely left us with a bad taste in our mouth. read more

I'm so disappointed in this place i ordered the filet mignon skewer. I ordered it medium rare and when I got it it look so dry and burnt but from the inside was very raw. I actually ended up getting food poisoning and had to go to urgent care. The meat also was so thick I needed to use two hands to pull it apart and take a bite. Bc the fork and knife wasn't cutting it. Whoever was cooking that day definitely didn't know how to cook. Seems as they used high heat to cook the meat and only burned from the outside as the inside was beyond red and very raw. What a waste of money honestly. read more

I live close to a few Mediterranean restaurants but I choose to drive a little further to Baba K because they use the best ingredients and the freshest meats, perfectly seasoned. I usually order the combo for 2 @ $31.99 and it really feeds 4 people as it comes with rice, humus, salads, pita bread a few other sauces and their famous garlic sauce, 1 kofta, 1 steak and 2 skewers of chicken. The cook and lady who runs the register are so helpful and generous, they make me smile. I can tell they love the food they make because they eat it during their lunch break. This is my number one spot when I am craving for Mediterranean food in Rancho Cucamonga. They are better than Luna grill, Pita Street, Zaky Mediterranean but a step below Darya Restaurant in Santa Monica. I wouldn't recommend buying their baklava, falafel or baba ganoush. They make really good crunchy fries and hummus. It is located in Haven City Market and opens at 11am and closes at 9pm. It is really clean and the food is cooked right in front so you can see everything that goes on in the kitchen. Parking is a drag and the lines can be long especially Between 12-2 pm and 5-6pm but the wait is worth it. read more

History

Established in 1985.

Baba K is a family owned Mediterranean restaurant. Baba means father in Arabic, and the "K" stands for Khaled, the primary owner and executive chef at Baba K. Baba K spelled backwards is coincidently "Kabab" which is the most popular Mediterranean dish worldwide. Khaled's journey started in his beautiful home of Amman, Jordan, a small, peaceful country in the Middle East rich in culture, flavor and spices. It was there that he found his talent and passion for cooking. Khaled soon created secret recipes for delicate dishes to start a family legacy. Today, Khaled passes on the recipes to his son, Yacoub, who joins him in this new journey. Khaled previously owned two restaurants in Jordan that were sold after the passing of his father. Baba K is a family owned Mediterranean restaurant. Baba means father in Arabic, and the "K" stands for Khaled, the primary owner and executive chef at Baba K. Baba K spelled backwards is coincidently "Kabab" which is the most popular Mediterranean dish worldwide. Khaled's journey started in his beautiful home of Amman, Jordan, a small, peaceful country in the Middle East rich in culture, flavor and spices. It was there that he found his talent and passion for cooking. Khaled soon created secret recipes for delicate dishes to start a family legacy. Today, Khaled passes on the recipes to his son, Yacoub, who joins him in this new journey. Khaled previously owned two restaurants in Jordan that were sold after the passing of his father. Soon after, he decided to move to the U.S. with Yacoub to embark on a new endeavor where he's now able to relive the magical flavors of his home country, together with his son.

When I said "Danielle" he said "oh that was yours, the guy just left." He kind of looked at me like it was my problem to fix, so I took off after the guy and the employee followed me. Thankfully, the guy didn't get very far because he was verifying the order, so we made the exchange. Whew! I ordered the charbroiled chicken shish kabob with extra grilled veggies and a side Mediterranean salad as well as the hummus trio with sliced cucumbers instead of pita bread. The chicken kabob meal was delicious! The chicken was cooked to perfection and the option to add on more veggies was much appreciated! I was really excited about the hummus trio, but sadly I found it to be lacking flavor. With the 3 options of regular hummus, spicy red bell pepper and edamame, I was definitely expecting a flavor explosion, but it fell flat for me. The koobideh kabobs I once loved no longer taste fresh, and during one visit the pasta sauce was watery and disappointing. I've also noticed many recent negative Yelp reviews that management does not seem to acknowledge or respond to. Tonight's experience was the worst yet. We came here to celebrate my brother-in-law's graduation with a family dinner for eight people, expecting the good food and service this restaurant was once known for. Instead, the steak skewers in our family meal came out almost raw and bloody inside -- completely undercooked and unsafe to serve. When we complained, the restaurant took the same meat back to the kitchen, recooked it, and brought it back out. Since we had already started eating from the platter, having the same meat returned felt unappetizing. On top of that, it took nearly 30 minutes for the replacement to come back, and by then the rest of the table had already finished eating. I spoke with the manager, and the initial resolution offered was one free tiramisu for a party of eight. After I explained that a single dessert did not make up for serving raw meat and making us wait so long, they offered one additional tiramisu. That response felt completely inadequate given the situation. Most restaurants would have removed the item from the bill or offered a meaningful discount. Instead, this experience showed very little accountability or concern for customer satisfaction and food safety It's unfortunate to see a restaurant that was once consistently good decline this much. Panini Kabob Grill needs stronger management, better customer service, fresher food, and more attention to customer feedback -- including responding to the growing number of negative reviews. And they really need to bring their garlic sauce back... it drastically enhanced the meal. Without it, the food falls a bit flat.

I have been coming here for several months now and it seems like I go more and more often. The food is very savory and delicious. I usually get a plate with rice, hummus, salad and two skewers. The chicken as well as the steak are packed with flavor and the meat is always juicy. I've introduced this place to my coworkers and we eat Baba K 2-4 times a weeks now, it has become a minor addiction. The flavors are consistent and I always feel extremely satisfied when I finish eating. The portions are generous so if you have small eating habits then i'd recommend a plate with one skewer. This is a family owned business from what I can see, and it appears that English is not their first language. I would recommend being very clear with your order and be nice to the staff they do their best despite their language barrier. I do not have a personal relationship with the owners or staff, I just happen to go here a lot and finally decided to write a review! Definitely recommend this place! read more

I've just tried Baba K for the first time today, and i gotta say i've read a couple reviews that did not really bring up the place but gave it a shot of my own. The food is absolutely amazing, i've had the chicken shawarma (Baba K way) they wrap it in a different type of bread and toast it, also i've had the filet mingon skewer and asked for well done, the food came out perfect and the filet mignon was very juice. Brought back some taste of home! The humus was delicious and very close to how it tastes back home. I most certainly recommend this place and will definitely be back soon to try out the rest of the menu. They have some really exciting dishes to check out! The menus is very detailed and the food is FRESH EVERY TIME! I came here the first week and have been here every week since. I have been dining at this restaurant since the Haven Food court opened. I enjoyed the food and the friendliness of the owners and employees. It is a family that prepare the food to your family, like mom and pop place. I also enjoys catering for business events and holiday gathering for our staff.
