His knowledge and suggestions were very helpful in shaping the design ideas I had into the perfect ring. After working with him over a number of weeks and now seeing the finished product exceed my (high) expectations, I could not be happier with the process and the beautiful, one of a kind ring now on the hand of my fiancee. Bottom line: Dustin creates amazing custom made pieces of jewellery. He's very easy to work with and has a great ability to shape loose design ideas into working concepts that really hit the look and feel of what you're trying to accomplish with the piece.

Dustin is awesome to work with because he has the ability to listen to what you want and also add…read morehis own artistic and technical opinion. He helped me define a ring design (based on an engraving from Jules Verne's novel From the Earth to the Moon) and helped my wife design her very different and more abstract sapphire studded ring. He used our gold (old french coins) and he helped us determine the purity in order to get it refined to 24k and then alloyed to white gold as we wanted. He uses a wax carving and casting technique and dental tools for engravings so it is definitely hand made and unique but also very cool. Price was reasonable and quality exceeded expectations. If you want something that is custom made and not machined to order overseas, but still have a similar price, you should definitely try working with Dustin.

My parents went to John's Barn & Bedroom in Nanaimo because they were told by the owner that he…read morecould help them find a firm, supportive mattress that would relieve their chronic back pain. They trusted his advice and purchased a mattress for over $6,000, believing his assurances that he would make sure they were "100% satisfied" and that if there were any issues, he would make it right. Within just a couple of weeks, they realized the mattress was far too soft and uncomfortable. They went back to speak with John multiple times, but instead of offering any meaningful solution, he told them to "keep sleeping on it" and that their bodies would adjust. Months later, their back pain has only gotten worse. Now, he is refusing to stand by his word and has told them it's a "final sale." This entire experience has left my parents feeling misled, disappointed, and taken advantage of, especially after choosing to support a small local business instead of purchasing from a reputable Canadian company that offers a 365-night trial and full money-back guarantee. As someone who has personally tried the mattress during a weekend stay, I can confirm that it is extremely uncomfortable and causes back pain almost immediately. It's unacceptable for a business owner to promise satisfaction, take thousands of dollars from seniors on a fixed income, and then walk away from his word when the product clearly fails to deliver. We hoped John would make this right, but since he has not, I feel it's important to warn others: think twice before purchasing from this store. If you want honesty, comfort, and accountability, look elsewhere.
