We have been lucky enough to have tried it at the Crave Food Festival and at our city's Summer Concert Series. Super excited seeing the owners opened a physical location. We were thrilled to see their theme from their cute polka dotted ice cream trucks into their new place. Bright pink with polka dots all over the walls. Amazing twine globes used as pendulum lighting. Beth and Phillip have created a fun, bright place in Georgetown. Speaking of... all of their gelato is created at their farm in Scott County! My husband tried their Affogato. He's a coffee fan! It's a scoop of gelato in a cup of coffee. Yes, you may spy a Keriug on the counter. In the spirit of staying green, they grind coffee from Twin Engine Coffee & place it in a reusable k-cup pod. He loved the coffee! I tried the peanut butter. It was rich and creamy just like granny's peanut butter candy at Christmas. In the past, we have always had the Banana pudding gelato. I cannot write about Spotz without mentioning how much we like that flavor! If you love ice cream, please give gelato a try. Creamier, richer, and carries more flavor! (P.S. Phillip was the Crave Festival Angel who rescued me with a drink a few years ago when spicy Indian Food was making my throat close. We have often wondered if we'd ever find that man again!)

They carry a slew of other dairy products such as cheese and butter. Flavors of ice cream vary as well as store hours based on the season. I believe their facebook page gives the most reliable source for hours, typically 11-9 through the summer. Staff is always super friendly, typically you'll just see Mrs. Rowlett making and serving ice cream while her brother is busy with the various cheeses and butter. Prices are sure to not break the bank and will certainly yield more than a few smiling faces indulging in such wonderful products. Craving more than a scoop or two? Well they've got half gallons ready to go home with you currently priced $12/each. My kids say Rowlett's is the best and I wholeheartedly agree!

I promise you, you've never tasted anything close to the coffee ice cream at Rowlett's Milkhouse Creamery. You'll thank me later. I took advantage of this beautiful fall day to drive to Campbellsvirg in Henry County and see this place for myself. Our office gets special treats on birthdays and I got to enjoy the coffee ice cream and I was in love. The texture was like silk on your tongue. The hint of coffee was just enough to fit through the sweetness to make it out of this world divine!!!!! So I'll shut my piehole about the coffee ice cream and talk about the other things Rowlett's has to offer. They have a large variety of cheeses, ice creams, ice creams and butter. I was looking forward to buying some butter for the banana bread I'm getting ready to make; however, they were sold out. Oh well, i'll have to make another trip there I guess. This business is locally owned by brother and sister Terry and Sharon Rowlett. I had the pleasure of meeting Sharon when I visited today and she was as nice as she could be. This is most definitely worth the drive and a great way to support local business. Y'all gotta make the trip. You won't regret it.

I was super excited for a health food smoothie bar to open in Georgetown! I mean, that's awesome…read more Just what we needed!! When I heard about the Wooden Straw and saw all my friends checking in on Facebook, talking about how wonderful this place was, I had high hopes. Well. I walked in and noticed immediately that everything is Herbalife. Here's the thing, as someone that has tried a variety of different health food shakes on the marketing and is actively reading labels & trying to eat healthy (mostly Paleo), I know that Herbalife is NOT one of the best ones out there. A quick look at the ingredients of the Formula 1 product (that they use for their shakes, I believe) shows a very little amount of actual nutrition or/and protein. Meh. There are also Herballife products all over the place. SO. With that in mind, I decided to push aside my bias and try a shake anyway. I mean, it has to be healthier than a Big Mac, right? (It is. I'm not arguing that.) For $6.50, you get three things: a shot of aloe, a cup of tea, and a shake! You have the option of the aloe being put in the tea, which is what I always do when I come here (yes, I've been here several times now). I usually opt for the Chai tea, but there is also green tea, raspberry tea, and another flavor available. The raspberry is good, too! I always get iced tea. I think hot tea is an option, but not entirely sure. Now. The shakes. Oh, my goodness, the chalkboard wall just has wayyyy too many options! I didn't know what to get! There are mutiple different flavor formulas that can create even more flavored shakes! Some of these include vanilla, chocolate, cafe latte, dulce de leche, pina colada, orange, just to name a few. From these, you can have chocolate cake, coconut crush, and so forth. The list goes on and on. After deliberating over what I felt like 'eating', I decided upon a lemon cake shake. They poured the powder in the water, added stuff, blended, and voila! Had a yummy-looking shake ready for me, nearly overflowing the clear, plastic cup. It tasted.... OK. Like a lemon cake. Ice cream. With lots of sugar. And some weird product after taste. Did not wow me. (Because of this, I gave them another try another day and tried a different drink which was a little bit better.) I have tried three different drinks from The Wooden Straw and am still not blown away An another note --- the people who work there are very friendly and happy to see you. There is no issue with service whatsoever. There is always music playing, and I believe, WiFi available. There's a bar you can sit at to enjoy your drinks or a soft couch (near a little kid's play area) to sit and relax. I like what they did with the feel of the place. Do I absolutely love Wooden Straw? Nope. I don't really like the Herballife products. But will I be back? Yes. Sometimes. Because..... these shakes may not be the healthiest, but they're definitely better than a Big Mac. And I do like trying different drink flavors. Cheers. TIP: Check in on Facebook when you're there and you get 50 cents off your drink.
