Our lovely cat, Harley, has been the reason for us re-flooring literally 4 rooms and 2 stair cases with hard woods from the original carpet. Damn cat! Mike and his crew are in the door on time and within 5 minutes they're working at a furious pace. They're professional, always happy, and work their asses off. In June of last year (2013) we decided to completely redo our floors to a darker stain and have our floors sanded and refinished after living in our home for 12.5 years. There was never a question in our mind who we would use. We didn't even get a second bid because we got other bids before and they couldn't come close to his pricing. They did a phenomenal job and we trust Mike so much that we did all this while on vacation out of the US and left him with our keys. Here's a stroy to tell you what a great businessman and human Mike is. We brought in painters to do a large job for us. The painters swore they were licensed and bonded. They came in and refinished our cabinets and painted countless walls. And, on top of all of that, they managed to unplug our refrigerator for 5 days...with all the food and ice still in it. Destroyed our floors, 6 months after we just had them redone. Turned out that they weren't licensed or bonded and we ended up dealing with huge ramifications. Mike came back out and had to do the whole job over and, knowing that ultimately we were going to be eating some costs because the amount still due to the painters (which we weren't going to pay them) didn't cover our loses. He did the second job on a discount and did a great job. We had an issue with one room not completely matching (not Mike's fault) because of sun bleaching and our decision to not redo that room again but Mike found a way to make it all work. 6 jobs later with Mike and countless referrals his way and I can tell you that he is the best with the best prices. I will take the time out of any day to talk with you to tell you of my experience if you'd like. We met Mike through a referral. He's not a personal friend of ours, etc. This is just one happy customer telling you that Mike is your guy. As for Darth's comment and giving him a one star, all I can say is that I agree with punctuality but that everyone has their days and the reality is that in 2011 the economy was still a little bad and the reason that he was likely late is that this guy is really busy doing great work. Give him a second chance.

Their price was extremely competitive and they stuck to our very tight schedule. They had to work under some very strict condo rules that they did with no problems. We recently had new flooring installed in our property, and unfortunately, the quality of the…read moreworkmanship was very disappointing. The installers spilled what appears to be juice or another liquid on our new countertop, leaving a permanent stain. There are noticeable gaps around both the front and back doors after the flooring installation. The flooring was also poorly cut and fitted around corners, leaving uneven joints and an unprofessional finish. In addition, the baseboards were not included in the project. I noticed that floor is not evenly laid out. Overall, the installation lacked attention to detail and quality. We expected professional workmanship but were left with multiple issues that now require additional repairs. I would not recommend this company based on my recent experience.

From the start, when I walked into their storefront for the first time to get some information, to…read morethe finished install, Hardware Plus was great. I wanted to replace old carpet and pad in a converted garage space (now a family room) along with leveling out a slight slope in one of the corners. After talking with the guy at the front office space (sorry, I forget his name), I was able to get some good information about the products they carried and a rough understanding of what the process would be. A day or two later, Erik meets me at my house with a few sample boards and to take a look at the space (approximately 360 sq ft). I showed him a mockup I created for color reference and we went through the samples, comparing color, softness, thickness, pile and quality. None of the boards he brought matched all that I wanted (either right pile and softness but wrong color or visa-versa) so we scheduled a time to meet in the storefront. When I arrived, Erik and I pulled out several sample boards with potential candidates based on the discussion we had earlier and he patiently waited and answered questions as I narrowed down my options until I finally landed on carpet that met my requirements. He was able to give me a pretty close cost estimate right then, so I knew it was within budget and the official estimate came just a few hours later. I scheduled the install, which would take two days since I wanted to level is concrete slab also and time was needed to cure the self-leveler compound. On the day of the install Erik and his install team, headed up by José, arrived and quickly got to work. A fairly deep crack in the slab was discovered, causing us to need more leveler than expected (although Erik brought some extra bags just in case). José came back in the evening on the same day to see how the leveler did and after seeing that there was still a depression where the crack was, he went to work adding a thicker, quick drying compound to level it all out. The next day, the installers, with José, came in, validated the floor was level and the compound was cured and proceeded to install the pad and carpet quickly and cleanly. All the while, Erik was in constant communication with me either on the phone, via text message or in person. When any concerns or questions arrived, they were resolved or answered quickly. I am impressed by the quality of customer server and the finished results and would recommend Hardwood Plus for carpet installs.

He guided us on material choices, and was gracious and accommodating when our other contractor kept pushing out the schedule with no warning. And best of all, the floors are absolutely stunning. The only downside is he's now set the bar so high, I don't think any other contractor will ever meet it!

I connected with Scott Whitmarsh of Seattle Style Flooring on a project with clients creating an custom outdoor BBQ and fire table with single piece counter tops. This project is in process, but I Scott has been a knowledgible and responsive resource for a complicated project. Meanwhile, my husband and I needed to replace the very tired carpet in our home. As our knowledge of carpeting was nil, Scott started us with an overview and primer, asking many questions about our home, lifestyle and priorities (small spaces, high traffic, 70 pound dog, quality, aesthetics, feel) so he could make the best product recommendations. Within a couple of hours we walked out with three sample boards, mulled them over in our home and made exactly the right selection. Three weeks later we have beautiful new carpet installed by Raoul and Jon, their in-house installation team who were a delight to work with. I am very particular about installation, both process and care for details. These are craftsman who are rightly proud of their work. Communication was excellent with both Scott and Raoul and his crew. Raoul was even very patient with me, explaining how to clean the carpet after our dog promptly walked with his muddy feet on the carpet that had been just finished 10 minutes before. Glad we selected for durability and an active household. And glad we selected Seattle Style Flooring!

Nearly 8 weeks after the initial faulty install, the company has evaded our persistent requests to correct the installation. Given the frustrating and exhausting experience of working with this company, I would never recommend them and would advise anyone interested in hiring them to steer clear. For those interested, here is a detailed account of our experience: - We scheduled the initial installation, and to our surprise, the installation crew called a week early to say they were on their way. We told them it was the wrong week and they could not come that day. - No one called us to apologize or reschedule. Instead, we made several calls and sent an email to our salesperson, Scott Whitmarsh, and the job was rescheduled to begin on the date originally agreed. - As for the installation, I will preface this by saying that Scott proudly sold us on the fact that this company hires craftsman to install floors, as compared to the inexperienced flooring installers that may be found at somewhere like Lowes. - The crew that came to install our floors were clearly inexperienced and unqualified to complete the job. While they managed to adequately lay the floors in the living and kitchen area, they neglected to level the subfloor at any point, which became an issue with the bedroom installation. The bedroom LVP floors have high and low spots that visibly bow when stepped on. The company has repeatedly evaded our requests to properly level the floors and redo the installation. We have persisted for nearly 8 weeks at this point to have the bedroom installation completed properly. - The crew also installed baseboards. Some of our original baseboards were damaged during the flooring removal and dry out process from the flood, so we needed the same type of baseboard installed where the old ones were missing. The baseboards were the wrong size, but the crew installed them nonetheless, never voicing to us while there that the boards were the wrong size. In fact, it turned out that they installed baseboards of two different sizes, which were both different from our original baseboards. - The baseboard joints showed very poor craftsmanship, with large gaps and joints that were poorly cut. See photos. - The quarter round installed at our front and balcony threshold were noticeably damaged during install. - Several of the baseboards were damaged during installation. - The baseboards in the bedroom closet were installed misaligned so that the closet doors no longer close properly. - The crew used silicone to caulk the baseboard joints, which is not a paintable surface. We discovered this when our painter came to paint our walls and pointed out where the paint would not adhere to the areas near the baseboards that were covered with silicone caulk. - After much complaining, it was agreed that a more experienced crew would come back to properly install the baseboards. - When the day came, the same crew arrived. - We called to say that was not acceptable, and later that day a different person came to perform and supervise the baseboard re-installation. - This more experienced person also trimmed some of the LVP boards in the bedroom to see if that would correct the bowing. It did not. - We continue to work with the company to correct the poor bedroom install. However, given all we've been through, we would advise anyone looking for new floors to shop elsewhere.

Lyle is a true professional who was easy to work with, gave us good advice and whom we trust implicitly. The job started with removal of the old tile by the front door. This is a noisy and dirty process, but we weren't bothered at all, as the work was done while we were out of town. We returned to a beautiful new slate entry. We also had linoleum laid at the bottom landing which leads to the garage. They did a very nice job where the linoleum meets the furnace. Care was taken to trim the material around the gas line and other piping. Speaking of garage, one of the springs on the garage door broke when a crew member was gaining access into the house. He kindly fixed that for us, which saved us the headache of arranging repair while we were on vacation. A month later, we left town again and arranged to have Interior Floor Designs finish the job. We had the lower set of stairs rebuilt with new treads and risers and the upper set of stairs sanded and stained. Lyle's crew did a super job tenting off the stairwell and we detected no migration of dust into the living room area adjacent to that area. The sanding and staining was done with no damage to walls/paneling. We are so happy at how well the two sets of stairs match in terms of wood choice and color. We are very grateful to Lyle and his crew for such good craftsmanship. We left our home in their very capable hands twice and have no regrets; only praise for their skill, care, attention to detail and trustworthiness. We wholeheartedly recommend Interior Floor Designs.
