I don't write reviews often, but this one was a must! I'm actually quite surprised by the amount of positive reviews and fully am questioning the authenticity of reviewers.
I'm new to the Macon area, moved here from Washington, DC, and thought after much research that I will give this salon a try.
I only needed a trim. In the past I have visited well over 35+ salons, and in addition to a cut, I routinely get balayage and highlights. This time I only needed a trim.
I booked my appointment online, and found the L1/L2/L3 abbreviations a little confusing, This goes out to any salon that tends to distinguish price and quality, since the service should always be top quality despite the level of the stylist, however, you somehow have to pay more for a higher level stylist.
This aside, I booked an appointment with a L2, which for the purpose of not hurting her business, I will not mention her name here. My appointment time was for 4pm, and I was running late (totally my fault, since I underestimated the time to get there being new to the town). I arrived around 4:10pm, and was seated in the lobby to await for my stylist. Not long after that, the stylist greeted me with a very friendly smile, and I thought yayyy this is great. She shampood my hair, and cut it in less than 8minutes total, and spent roughly 5 minutes on the blow dry, and before I knew it I was out the door.
The cost for just a trim was $46, plus tip. I felt that this was the most un-personable hair appointment I have had, I truly felt rushed! I was out the door by 4:40pm, this including the payment processing time at the front desk.
The quality of the cut was extremely below par and disappointing! I have multiple layers, which the stylist did not touch at all, she only took about 2 inches of the longest layer, and attempted to trim my angled bangs. Being that i don't like confrontations, I didn't say much, left a tip and walked out the door. When I got home, I noticed multiple chopped strands on the front, and you can still see the split ends. By no means, does it look like I just got a trim.
Now comparison, to a major metropolitan area like DC, the price is also quite high at Signature Salon. I have in the past gotten cuts between $35 to $50 that have been stellar, but for a small town I find this to be quite unreasonable considering the low quality of service.
Within a week of my appointment, I received a hand-written note from the stylist I saw, and I found this to be a really nice touch. However, it made me think that this salon should really focus of the quality of the work they deliver, versus the emphasis they put on marketing and referrals. If you consistently do a good job, believe me word will get out, and talent will be recognized. After all, word of mouth is the best marketing! read more
