Over the course of my 15 month project, there were 3+ different project managers overseeing my home's construction. Poor craftsmanship, the worst communication, and NO ownership of mistakes. Most of the work was contracted out & I encountered many unexperienced B-line employees. I showed up to find a clueless employee laying tile, incorrect lighting being installed despite documented plans, and no one on site often. I have never experienced gas lighting like this before... and don't be fooled to believe an interior designer strategically helps make decisions.. Not pleased with the moving of my shed. Damaged, wrong placement, understaffed, not prepared, not experienced with this task. Would not hire again. If you want more details continue reading. B-Line Told the supervisor of the job that he had measured and knew exactly where the shed was originally, lie, off 3'x5', shed is about 3'+ too close to the fence which put its roof under the neighbor's tree where the shed shingles were damaged and will continue to be damaged as tree regrows limbs. Arborist had to be hired to remove limbs, I will have future costs because of his NOT putting the shed back in the original site. then off the front direction; 5'+ from the garage which put it 5'+ from the original electricity, the electrician had to be hired to move and shorten the connections. No way did this man measure my shed's location. 2. Siding was damaged 3. Doors would not open. The shed was twisted during the move. Before moving... No cross boards were used for structural support. My house sitter made the crew go back for pipes and additional rolling and support tools, showing they lacked the knowledge to do this job. This was sadly a preamble to the poorly finished job. Conclusion Yes, the guy who did the job moved the shed, no, it was not done professionally, no, I would not hire this company for moving sheds. read more

We had a fire at our house and hired bline construction to get things going. Eveything went pretty well, my insurance company dragged quite a bit but over all things got done. However close to a year later we got an estimate to get our roof done by another company. They had to go into our attic and told us we didn't have any insulation. We got a hold of bline and they didnt put in the insulation when the work was being done. We contacted them they confirmed they should have put it in and they will fix it. We were referred to B-Line from an insurance adjustor that came to deal with our insurance claim. Mike was very professional and did a very thorough walkthrough and quote. After hiring them, all the staff we dealt with (office staff, Tony-on-site, and numerous other staff and sub-contractors) were unprofessional and shady in their business dealings. They overcharged us (or rather the insurance company), took three times longer than promised to get the work done and did not follow through on many items that were written in the quote-and paid for by insurance. They did not clean up after themselves. My husband had to take off a lot of time from work to be on-site to get them to follow through and make sure things got done so that basic inspections would pass. Negative experience. We could not wait to be done dealing with them and rejoiced when we delivered the final payment. read more

I own a house in mid-town Sacramento and noticed unleveled floors and slanting doorways. After weeks of reviewing many bids, I was struck by the thoroughness and candid assessment of Chris, the president. He took over an hour examining our foundation and support piers in the 3 -4 foot crawl space under our home, measured each room, and gave us honest feedback and resolution. I pitched all the various ways of resolving our foundation which I heard/learned from other competitors, and one by one, Chris was patient to explain to me why his approach was the most valuable and most effective for our home. In fact, his bid came in at the most competitive rate with the highest quality. His integrity and honesty made our selection of B-Line to perform perhaps the most "foundational" and important work of our house easy. Before even asking for payment, he offered to come by personally to sit down and discuss construction and contract questions first. I brought my fiancé, my dad, and a family friend to attend this meeting. Chris was gracious and patient in fielding every question from my panel of judges! Despite the busyness of other ongoing projects, Chris was always responsive to my emails, texts and phone calls. Shortly thereafter, his team came out to do another measurement and begin work. I met his team leaders Kim and Jorge who were there daily for 2 weeks. Kim, Jorge and their team began digging 3+ feet of holes for the concrete pads in the crawl space. I admire and respect the difficulty of this work. Their team was courteous, respectful and professional. The team worked efficiently and excellently. In fact, they exceeded my expectations in that they got my home within 3/4ths of an inch to perfect level! They performed great work over and above the agreement. For example, Kim saw that the pipes underneath the house from my kitchen sink were leaking and corroded. Even though it was not part of the foundation repair, he and his team purchased 10+sq feet of PVC piping and repaired the leak so that I didn't have to have my fiancé crawl down there to fix it or hire another handyman. At the end, Chris met up with us for a walk-through, helping us with advice on how to fix additional items in our home, shared some secret tricks of the trade, asked us on a scale of 1 to 10 what our satisfaction level was and was eager to do all else needed to get it to a 10. My family was more than pleased with their work - which is why I am giving them 5 stars. Ram-Jack crew did a good job repairing my foundation in September and October of 2017. But there were lots of problems that occurred during the project. The following are the issues that occurred during the project. Driveway crew on the jackhammer was drinking beer by Noon on the first day. When they left for the day they left a concrete saw and the jackhammer on the driveway. Plus, they left my gate open and I could not close it due to the big pieces of broken concrete. As I was putting something in my recycle can, I saw there was four empty beer container in my recycle. Two 24 oz Budweiser's and two bottles of Corona. Ram-Jack staff came back that evening, moving the concrete to allow me to close my gate and put the heavy tools in my backyard. I really appreciated him doing that for me. I informed him and Jeff about the drinking. They said they would talk to Ricco, the driveway sub contractor. There were no toilet facilities for the crews on Friday. The Ram jack crew used my bathroom and they were neat and respectful. Later in the afternoon, the man on the jackhammer asked if he could use my bathroom and since Dan and Jeff were so respectful and neat I let him. He peed on my floor. The following day (Saturday), the driveway crew showed up at 6am to continue to remove concrete. Told him to come back after 7:30. The landscape crew showed up on Sunday, September 10 with no notice. I was very upset, as were a couple of my neighbors. Nick said Touyer told them they could come on Sunday but no one asked me if it was OK. I called Touyer and he stated he did not say it was OK. Since they already unloaded their ditch witch I said OK. They dripped oil on the sidewalk and splattered oil on my west wall and my neighbors east wall. They also broke sprinklers in two areas of my property. They didn't show up again until Tuesday and were here until 6:30pm. Nick said they wouldn't be back until the following Monday, as they had to order a part. When they finished, they broke several pieces of my flagstone and then did not lay it correctly. Nick didn't come back until 10/2 or 3 but they did fix everything in the backyard. My bathroom faucet started leaking. 9/27 my plumber fixed the drain pipe, stated the threads were stripped when the house was lifted on the west side. Cost me $300. Did a walk through with B-Line. Lots of cracks in the west side of house. Cracks in the newly remodeled kitchen and breakfast nook. Concert was poured on 9/27. They were here until almost dark due to the concrete not arriving until after 2pm. They said there was a communication problem about delivery time. Contacted the driveway contractor on 10/1, as there was a crack spreading on the driveway and I couldn't get my back gate open. He said he would keep an eye on the crack. But his laborers would come out Monday to remove the forms. they didn't show up until October 5 He called on October 3, asked if he could come with his laborer to show him what to do. His laborer was the crew member on the jackhammer the first day that drank beer while he worked and peed on my bathroom floor. Ricco said that wasn't the guy but he was incorrect. I talked to the guy several times during the day and brought him water. It was him. And he even said to me that he was the one who jack hammered the driveway. Ricco said oh now I am going to have to talk to him. The laborer was to remove all the forms and clean the driveway with a push broom. But the day of, he asked if I had a broom he could use. On July 25, 2018, I called B-Line, as there were cracks in four different sections of my driveway. I sent them pictures via email. The office admin confirmed she received them and that someone would call me back. I called again on August 7, as I had not heard from them. B-Line finally sent someone out to look at the driveway on September 6. He said he would look at my paperwork and get back to me. No followup from them until I called them again on September 24. Today is October 31 and I still not heard from them regarding the cracks that just get bigger in my driveway. read more

I was so eager to give these guys a 5 star rating...First call I made, I decided that for a home, the quote for a bid was a bit high, so I decided not to go through with it. A few days later, I got a call from the inspector himself, telling me he really wanted to make this work! So we came to an agreement and set up an appointment. However, on the day of the appointment, after I had made myself available for the inspection, I was ghosted. I tried calling him directly, leaving a voice mail, and had the secretary call, but no answer. So after a wasted day during a very stressful move, i couldn't possible rate these guys anything. The receptionist didn't know, so I went ahead and sent a copy of the same email again. She saw it, and then asked for my phone number -- something I did not want to give to her since I prefer to have everything in writing. I simply asked her to have someone contact me. That never happened. I followed up with another call within a few weeks, and still no reply has been given. If you can't even contact potential customers via channels that you have set up on your site, then you have saved us having to wait to hear from you when you have started a job and possibly not finished it. read more

DO NOT HIRE B-LINE CONSTRUCTION I hate to write a bad review but someone needs to let you know what you are in for when you sign up to work with NorCal Ram Jack and B-Line Construction. First off their sales videos are misleading. They do not use a hydraulic system to lift the house. It is done with regular bottle jacks jacked at random intervals by the workers without a supervisor on site. The crew did not have knowledge of the approved plans they were to follow. When it was brought to their attention that there was supposed to be a metal support beam put in they argued until we showed them the plans and sure enough there it was. Then they proceeded to put it in the wrong place. When asked about it they said "this is better". We called Chris the owner and after several phone calls and pictures he said "they put it in the wrong place". The other owner, Ted has no knowledge of what is going on at all. He came to the site because of the support beam issues. He was rude, had no time for us, and did not have answers about what was happening on the job site. When he set up the job he asked if we wanted the port a potty. I told him yes and he said he would send it. It never showed up. When we asked him about it he said "the port a potty never showed up? They have been using your bathroom the whole time?" He said he would credit for it. $520. We also asked him to send us an itemized invoice for all that was done along with the lift heights after completion. He said no problem. He sent me an email saying the same. One week or so after completion, their office called me to get the final signature for the loan so they could get final payment. I said no problem we will be happy to sign as soon as Ted sends the $520 check for the port a potty and the itemized paperwork. She said she would have Ted call me. This never happened. 20 days after completion they put a lien on the house. We immediately set up a meeting with both Chris and Ted. We asked them why they felt it was necessary to put a lien on the house when they had not attempted to call us back about the refund and payment. Ted had no recollection of saying he would send a check, he didn't even remember that we didn't get a port a potty. He also said he never got the message from the office person to call me back. We showed him a copy for the email he had sent. They issued the check, gave us all the paperwork and signed a release of the lien but only because we did the sit down with both of them. Ted would not have done anything. After the sit down, Chris agreed to come back out and take a look at something we were concerned about. After several missed appointments, he showed up. He crawled under the house and looked. The crew was back a couple days later and replaced support posts. There were several other issues but you get the idea. According to Ted "I have to many people to supervise, I cannot remember who I talk to and what I say." Think twice before hiring this company! read more

I was impressed from the onset with the estimator who worked closely with the insurance company to make sure that all bases were covered for me. B-Line is one of the few firms that does serious foundation repair involving pier jacks to raise and level uneven foundations. I hired them to install six pier jacks and a couple of support posts, to address settling and heaving in the Land Park home. What was most impressive at the start of job was that Chris offered up several options on addressing the problems, and was very up front with the expected outcomes. These ranged in price and expected lifetime. He also advised against addressing certain issues, due to the risk involved. This type of dialog was missing from the other two specialist firms I reviewed, which seemed focused on maximizing the job cost. I in fact hired another firm to do an engineering survey, but when the survey came back with additional recommendations, I expanded my search and found B-Line. The entire work went smoothly and professionally, and the results were as expected. The only hiccup in the process was getting the final permits signed off. His communication with the insurance company was so smooth that we were able to receive enough money for the rebuild. We were then assigned a general contractor, Tony, to supervise our construction. Tony is the kindest man and was very approachable. So Tony and I went to work rebuilding my parents' house. Tony understood my design vision and made the whole process EASY. Since I live in Santa Rosa and my folks live in EG, we would communicate via emails and phones. We met up to review blueprints and select appliances, carpets, tiles, granite etc. Tony was always organized and every meeting was very efficient. We were able to design the house and complete the house within reasonable time. They now live in a beautiful new home that has their dream kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms!!! I called B-Line Construction to request an inspection of the foundation of my house. I was very pleased with the service I received. The representative of B-Line, Mr. Lee, performed a very thorough inspection, measuring the levels throughout the house, and going into the crawl space below the house. He showed me pictures of the areas of concern regarding the settling that my 66 year old structure has experienced. He carefully answered all of my questions regarding the one visible crack in the exterior stucco. The proposal sent after the visit recommended 10 helical piers to support the house. I appreciated the careful and professional manner in which business was conducted, although I am not going to have any work done at this time. read more

Very disappointed. Eight years ago we hired B Line to do an extensive remodel that included two bathrooms. The bathroom remodel involved taking out everything and rebuilding from the floor joists up. We had nothing but issue after issue during construction. The construction manager was too busy working on his own house to give much attention to ours. As a result, everything he worked on was done improperly or incompletely. Now eight years later a leak developed from the sink and bathtub which B Line (or their sub-contractors) installed. This was behind the walls and under the floor. We had to have one entire bathroom ripped out in order to dry out the wood and we suspect the second bathroom is in almost as bad shape. We now have a hole in the middle of the house where a bathroom should be. The young man they sent out to review the situation seemed very accommodating but he has stopped returning our calls. B Line has strung us along for months and finally ended up telling us the project is too small for them to bother with. They are assuming no responsibility for the problems that have arisen from their work. read more

We used B-Line for 3 projects (foundation work, bathroom and kitchen remodels) in past years, and each time we felt they did good work at a fair price. So when we recently purchased a derelict house that needed a LOT of work, on a limited budget, we naturally called B-Line. Something has changed. This last (and I do mean last) experience was totally different. We talked to Mike and got detailed estimates for several things we were considering. The estimates were about what we expected, until we noticed that they added, at the end, 20% to everything (even the sales tax) as "Overhead" and "Profit". We wanted to get started with the roof and some demolition, so we signed a contract. Two days before they were going to start on the roof, we were meeting with Mike to discuss some other estimates and he mentioned casually that he was bringing an engineer by. He also handed us a Change Order and told us for the first time that the existing attic insulation had to be removed and replaced, at a cost of $3800; 1/2 due now and 1/2 in a week. We were about to leave on a brief vacation, we didn't want to delay the roof, and we still had trust, so we signed and paid. They didn't actually start the roof for another week and in the meantime we began to wonder why the insulation was a last-minute deal. We also tried to find out what the engineer had said. Mike told us he would send the engineer's report "this week" and that we were going to have to move the windows in the bedrooms to "meet code". We were not planning any work for the bedrooms. Our concerns were mounting and we expressed them to Mike in an email. He went completely and permanently silent. We never did get an engineer's report. After a few days, we forwarded our concerns to B-Line's General Manager and owner. After we followed up a time or 2, the manager contacted us and we met. He told us that they "only do insurance work" now (no hint of that on their website); that we didn't need to replace the attic insulation or get an engineer's report, and since we were good customers, they would "help us out" and we could pay them "on a time and materials basis". So we made a short list of things we needed B-Line to do, some of which were already in the contract. They worked for 3 days and sent us a bill for $7,800. Over the next two weeks, they first ignored our requests then flatly refused to substantiate this bill with any information about time and materials. Meanwhile, we noticed several problems with the new roof, including a hole in the bathroom wall where they had replaced a rafter. We also noticed that, despite a line item in the contract for roof fascia, there was no fascia. After we pointed this out, they did credit the $2600 we would have paid for no fascia. The project manager said they had fixed the roof issues, but there was still a hole in the bathroom wall. After another week, the hole did get closed and most, though not all, of the roof issues had been fixed; although we still worry about the parts of the roof we can't see. So we paid their demand in order to end the #nightmare of working with #B-LineConstruction. read more

B Line did an outstanding job for us. We had a brick wall that was peeling away from the wooden frame of the house and a truss was cracked from the tilt. B Line came in and took care of everything. It was a significant undertaking but even when the work was being done the crews kept our walkways clear and clean. And when the job was over the cleaned up super well. A few years back, our family was going through a very difficult process of dealing with a recent terminal illness diagnosis for our father. My parents' home needed to be renovated within a very aggressive schedule to accommodate his new medical needs. We initially hired a local contractor to do the work, but had a nightmare of an experience from the start. Fortunately, we were referred to B Line. Upon our initial consultation with Chris, him and his crew were able to jump right in and take control of the situation. My father being a 20+ year military vet, he was eligible to receive VA (Veteran Affairs) benefits that could be applied, such as the SAH (Special Adaptive Housing) Grant. Chris and company were very knowledgeable of the specific requirements, and made the process quick and simple, with minimal hassles.
