If I could give a 0 star I would. This place is by far the worst place I have visited. The worst customer service, not a welcoming environment. I went in and they rust to do my pedi and the lady didn't do my cuticles. The other lady who did my full set didn't apply the acrylic nail correctly and left my nails thick and when she was filling she cut me and didn't put sterilizer. On top of that I told her my nails weren't looking even and she told me to fix it myself or go somewhere else. There is a huge gap between my real nail and the acrylic one. She charged me her tip. DON'T GO HERE 1. The person doing my pedicure said she couldn't understand what I was saying when I informed her of the additional attention I needed on my big toe, so she got someone else, who then hurt my toe so bad, I said just leave it alone. 2. The same woman who said she couldn't understand what I was saying, then proceeds to say to me "The skin on your feet is so nice, where do you work?" "What do you do on Saturday/Sunday?" I believe she used this to determine what price they were going to charge me, as I didn't see a pricing list posted (noticed after the fact). 3. Two of my toes were partially polished, so another woman "corrected" the issue. However, when I was ready to leave, I noticed the polish job had gone from bad to worse. 4. As I waited for my toes to dry, I was asked three times to pay the $55 for the mani/pedi. Each time I replied, "Okay, I'll pay when I'm done." Needless to say, I paid for services I did not receive. It's around the corner from me but I've never been since I lived over here. I recently came on Easter Sunday only because it was the only place open and I was going out of town soon. It could be a little cleaner and the chairs could be updated. The prices are kind of high for the experience I received. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience at BK Nails. I opted for a dip powder manicure, which I've been getting consistently every 3-4 weeks for the past 8 years, and I've never experienced chipping--until now. Just 6 days later, my nails are chipping, which is unheard of for this style that usually lasts me 4 weeks. When I left the salon, my nails were already messy, but I was in a rush, and they were conveniently located. However, during the appointment, I had to go back and forth repeatedly over the basic dip powder application. I should've read review first! First of they RUDE.. second... please don't do for eyebrow threading!! PLEASE!! I was a little nervous when I found out that an Asian lady was doing the threading... not trying to come off prejudice but some people have certain things down to a science so you shouldn't deviate ... to that end I said I would give ole girl a chance.. Went for a gel manicure and gel pedicure. I literally just left there and this is what my nails look like. My four year old niece would have done a better job. This is the worst manicure and pedicure I have ever received. When I spoke kindly with the owner, she argued with me and would not listen to why I was not a satisfied customer. I'm sharing the manicure, but the pedicure is even more embarrassing. This was my first and last visit to this salon. Why do we, as African Americans, continue to patronize these Asian nail salons when it is very obvious that they only care about making $ off of us and service is subpar? Read it all - it is worth it! This particular location has proven this to me several times and because of convenience I came back again. I have learned my lesson. Here is what happened. I asked to get a fill in by the owner. We all know a fill in comes with filing, polishing and of course filling in the new growth. So as I sat there getting my fill in, the owner asks if I want them cut down. I said yes. She proceeds to give me the price - $30. Sure no problem - I said. While she's continuing her work and never even asked how my day was, I notice she's not filing my nails to the correct shape so I ask her to file them differently. Then she proceeds to tell me it would be $5 for filing my nails from almond to a more pointy shape. Same shape just a little pointy. All of my alerts went off that this woman is trying to nickle and dime me. I ask her so when do you charge a customer for filing their nails when it is usually included with a fill in. Her additional hustle kicked in and she said - I didn't charge you to cut down your nails. I proceeded to let her know that I did not ask her to give me a hand out, so please charge me correctly, but you will not hustle me and lie and tell me that there is a fee for filing my nails slightly different. I proceeded to share that her actions lacked integrity and that I would pay her for the fake charge but she would never see my face again in her nail salon. I was also paying for my mom to get services which was about $90 total at the end. I figure I will go back to patronize my AA (African American) owned nail salon to fund an AA's business where I know clearly what the fees are when I sit down for service. Where no one looks me in the eyes and tries to nickle and dime me for small fees because she thinks she can get away with it. You ask what does this have to do with race - well one thing I know is that many non AA's see AA's as unconscious consumers. There is a propensity to overcharge us and nickle and dime us because there is a belief that we aren't making smart buying decisions. There is an anti-blackness undertone while they profit off of their predominantly AA customer base. Well you got the wrong one here. I operate in an awareness that every penny I spend funds your company and I want to feel respected and appreciated where I consume. This happened to me at this salon in the past. A nail tech made up charges. This owner also tends to be very cold and will charge AA's for a polish change when you hit your nail by mistake after you left the salon 10 mins ago. I hope that anyone reading this - AA or not - will stand with me to stop this kind of behavior. Black Dollars matter! We have to hold these businesses accountable for how they treat AA's. #1 Insist that they Post visible pricing so as to not pull the trickery of nickle and dime-ing people. #2 Insist on cleanliness or report them to the State Board of Cosmetology OR #3 Last but not least - Take your dollars to black nail salons where the chances of better treatment, trust and solidarity is there. Lastly, I know all nail salons are not the same, but there has been enough anti-blackness spewed in these small ways that add up to big $ for them to fund their livelihoods at the expense of black people. When I tell you I love this spot and the owner. It's near my new home and she always sees me even if she is about to close. Amazing customer service hands down. She is so sweet. Everyone does such a great job. I go twice a month and enjoy going every time. They take their time and make sure you love your nails and toes. They also do strips and individuals. It's in a nearby local shopping center. It's busy most of the time but I usually go in the evening when it isn't so bad. They see me right away. They appreciate the loyalty and aren't rude like some of the other nails salons in the area. Talking crap in their Native tongue and acting as if they're doing us a favor by doing our nails. I spend my money where it's respected and they definitely appreciate the business. And for that reason alone I don't go anywhere else. Def check them out. They don't even get one star. These nail salons are about to get shut down. Went there and they said a 10 minute wait. Was still there 30 minutes later when we decided to leave. They barely speak to you but don't be fooled they speak English. My very pregnant daughter asked about the gel nail selection and the lady tossed the nail polish selection toward her and it landed on the chair. During that time, my daughter went to their bathroom which looked like it was in a third world country. She actually said, "DON'T let them use any tools on you!" The owner of this salon is disrespectful. I walked in at 6:45pm to get a nail repair, and she turned her back to me and insisted "I waited too long." I found that interesting because she acted like she was about to service the woman ahead of me for a full set, but the woman walked out. I should've followed suit in the first place, but I figured I would give it a try bc I really needed this nail fixed. So again, after they asked me what I needed done and told me she wouldn't assist, I respectfully asked, "weren't you about to service the woman who just left?" After all, it was only one nail I needed fixed and the salon I originally went to wasn't opened. Y'all. She got an attitude and raised her voice. I will never get service at this nail salon again. The workers are rude and did a poor job on my nails. I received a gel manicure and a pedicure. After 1 day, the polish on my toes looked as if they had used nail polish remover to stretch the polish out. When I went back to see if they could redo the job or get a refund, the owner became very loud and defensive and told me that I would not get a refund and that I messed up my nails. I proceeded to say that I did not mess up my nails, there weren't any smudges, but the polish was not quite right and there were some faint scratches present. She insisted that I put my shoes on and messed them up. I didn't feel like arguing, so I just told her to have a better day and left. Just had a terrible experience. I am 8 months pregnant and went into BK Nails to get my eyebrows waxed. The lady started to put wax on me without even finding out how I wanted them done. When I stopped her and told her not to make them too thin she got angry and started to yell. I then asked her to stop yelling at me and told her that her customer service skills sucked, she then started talking in a different language. So I let her know that was rude and she started yelling again. I will never go back there and suggest no one else does either. The lady just did a terrible job my nails weren't the same shape, she filed them down way to much.. You could actually see my real nail sticking out of the side it was that bad. Just moved to the area 1 week ago. I was desperate for a pedicure so I decided to try this place. I wish I had checked the reviews before deciding to stay. It's unfortunate I cannot give a negative rating. I sat in the chair waiting to be serviced for over 30 minutes. The tech completed my pedicure in approximately 10 minutes (not an exaggeration)! The polish job looked as if I had gone into a kindergarten class and let the students polish my nails. This was the absolute worst experience and pedicure I've ever had. I should have known something wasn't going to go well when I saw a sign stating that if you receive a service you will pay or they'll call the police. Boy did I know better. I only went to this salon because my usual one was closed due to snow. I had a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE from the beginning. She COMPLETELY RUINED MY NAILS. She did such a poor job with putting the polish on that it was "melting" and blamed ME for not telling her I "didn't like the color".. the color was fine.. her painting ability was not. Totally sloppy. I got three (red) coats and it was still see-through, the nails were so fragile after she filed them that they have all broken. I came in with claws and left with nubs. She cut my nails so short and ruined their strength. By day 2, they had all chipped off or broken. I walked out not wanting to pay for my service given that I'll have to have everything re-done (and get acrylics which I hate to have a proper length for the holidays). I however overpaid her since it's the holidays. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. My pedicure was given with cold water and no massage. The paint and decor are falling off the walls. You know they do shitty work all the time because they have a sign saying "if you walk out we will Call police and write down your tag".. they don't deserve any customers. Rude. Poor work. I shoulda known it was gonna be an issue when I saw a sign posted that said if you don't pay for your services the police will be called and we will take down your tag number....smh. All I wanted was a manicure with black gel polish boy oh boy it went all down hill when it took five coats to make the black not be see thru, then the polish was super sloppy so I complained to her twice that it looked terrible! She she was about to take irbid and start over HA! WRONG!! I'm not letting you redo it!! It was already 6:30 I had to be back home by 7 so my husband could go to work. I went to bk nails on Friday evening to get my gel nail color changed. I was in a rush so I just got a gel polish not a manicure. A lady who I assume was the owner told me it was $21 to get my nails done with or without the manicure (cuticles cut lotion etc). I got a French gel manicure. While I was there I had to ask the lady doing my nails who didn't speak English to fix the white part of my nails more than once because they weren't the same color as the others or they weren't completely painted. After leaving and putting my glasses on I realized they weren't straight. By Sunday afternoon 3 of the nail paints were chipped off (gel nails don't chip... And typically you don't have to get the paint changed for 2+ weeks). I went back Sunday to get them fixed and they sent me away because they were too busy. I went again Monday and the owner "fixed" them. I asked her to cut my cuticles since it was the same price and I didn't get them done the last time and she tried to charge me $10!!! There are places in the middle of my nail where it looks like i scratched them with a nail file that she claimed is my skin? I had to ask her multiple times to fix the white part as well because it was uneven and she got an attitude with me. Not only was my service crappy and the customer service even worse but it's so dirty in there. I wish I would have had my glasses on the first time to see that. When I went back Sunday she used a dirty shot glass with acetone to clean up my nails and the disgusting blue towel that I had to put my hands on while she was painting my nails was the same one from several days before that never got washed. I'm extremely glad I didn't get my cuticles clipped because o could have walked away with a disease. STAY AWAY! this place is terrible!!!
