The eatery gets perhaps a majority business from the adjacent hostel at same address. Sixtus 12 beer was very tasty. Moules (mussels) seemed more about quantity than quality. Generous portion but slightly disappointing in that the white mussels just didn't have as good a flavour as the orange ones. Could be seasonal. Moreover, the veggies cooked with the moules were all a bit tough. Perhaps meant only to flavour broth and not be eaten, but if so, shouldn't they be removed in the kitchen? Dinner was decent. Service was alright. De Passage definitely has de atmosphere. Tables are a little bit cramped on either side of the room and could use bussing and cleaning a little more often.

Very good value; next time I am in Bruges; I'll head to Passages for food for certain. Lodging is very cheap but is small and I was 3rd floor walk up. The walk up round 4 is a bit rough. The room was clean and quiet so I didn't mind it Some would hate it. Was great to go right up stairs to sleep after my awesome meal.

Restaurant itself is nice, with a good outside sitting area as well as a large indoor area. Food: I had gray shrimp croquettes and waterzooi fish, both traditional Ghent dishes. Croquettes could have had a bit more shrimp (they didn't say any thing about % of shrimp like some restaurants so I assume less than 45%). €10 per piece, so quite expensive. Fish stew was DELICIOUS! If it wasn't €28 could eat that stew for days Service: meh. They were only half full, but took awhile to get beverages and food. Had to remind the wait staff a few times. One unfortunate thing is because of the high Asian tourists in the restaurant, who were noisy and rude (taking pictures of EVERYTHING including restaurant patrons), the experience wasn't great. I left as soon as I could.

He spoke perfect English. I had the beef stew which came with the ubiquitous fries and a side salad. I have to say that the stew was not nearly as good as a review for another restaurant from two nights previous. The beef was chewy and a bit tough, as though it hadn't marinated long enough. And the stew itself lacked a full bodied flavor. The fries and salad were both exceplenty. Our dining companions had mussels and we tried some. They were succulent and delicious. This was accommodated by a delicious dark beer, Effective. We ended with a dessert of vanilla ice cream, avocat and whipped cream. Delightful. One of dining partners had a waffle with cream. We got to try one and it was delicious. Portions are substantial and they'll bring as many fries as you want.

It didn't seem that busy at the time, so we were seated right away. I guess there's no host to check you in. You just wait until a server sees you. I seated outside, so only went to inside to go to the bathroom. Steps are very steep going to the bathroom (like most places in Brugge), so be careful. My daughter slipped on a few steps. They have a lot of outdoor seating as opposed to eating inside though. We ordered the beef tare tare. I thought it was pretty good, nicely seasoned and came with creamy froie gras. Hubby and kids ordered the steak for 2. It was a bit overcooked as we ordered the medium rare. I took a bite and it was ok. I thought pretty pricey for what it was, but enough for hubby and kids. Came with large fries and a salad. Hubby had beer and I had tea. It was just Lipton tea and hot water. Staff was not really attentive at all. They must have knew people from a few other tables as they hugged and greeted each other and stayed there to make conversations.
