This place is a GEM! I will definitely stay there again. In fact it's so great I don't know if I should put a review on here as I don't want the prices to go up or the place to be fully booked next year when I go back!
A 5 minute taxi/bus ride from the train station, 2 minute walk from Piazza Bra and the Arena (in fact you can see the Arena arches from the balcony), yet on a quiet side street and two doors from a supermarket this place couldn't be better situated.
Very cheap compared to other hotels in Verona (half the price of some of the two star establishments) and with good reviews everywhere I looked online, I can't rate this place highly enough.
The wonderful landlady Vittoria doesn't speak a word of English but will happily use the translator on her computer or let you struggle through with your phrasebook (giving you a glow of pride at being able to make a sentence understood!!). She is very friendly and welcoming, happy to book taxis and make recommendations. We wanted to eat breakfast on the balcony and after the first morning when we had just taken our stuff out there, when we got up the next day she had laid the table especially for us, remembering who had coffee, who had tea etc. The breakfast was very good; warm croissants and olive ciabatta, ham, cheese, freshly prepared fruit salad, muesli, yoghurts, fresh orange juice and tea and coffee.
I was almost put off from booking when I read that there were shared bathrooms, but there are three - 2 with large showers, one with a great bath and only 4 bed rooms: 3 doubles and a family room, so plenty really, never had to wait.
The whole place is clean and well maintained with eclectic but tasteful decor from Vitoria's various travels and I just love it!
One word of warning, it is on the 5th floor which is accessed by a bit of an old rickety lift so if you have a problem with that. read more
