I've been searching for a reliable tailor in the San Francisco area, and Tina's Alterations was…read moreexactly what I was looking for. I had four dresses that needed alterations for several upcoming weddings and initially sent Tina photos of all of them. Rather than accepting every project, she carefully evaluated each dress and agreed to work on only two. She explained that while the other two dresses could technically be altered, the fabric and fit would make it difficult to achieve a result that met her quality standards. I greatly appreciated her honesty and professionalism. Many businesses would have accepted all four dresses, but Tina was focused on delivering work she could confidently stand behind. Her transparency and commitment to quality immediately gave me confidence in her expertise. During my first visit to Tina, I brought both my dresses to try on to assess the alterations that I needed done (mostly hemming). She provided a quote at that time, and stated that payment could be made at pick-up. I found her pricing to be very reasonable given the complexity of the dresses (material and multiple layers). The two dresses she altered turned out beautifully. The craftsmanship was excellent, and the fit was exactly what I wanted. The turnaround time was about two weeks from drop-off to pickup, which I found very reasonable (especially since I had told Tina there was no rush). She clearly takes pride in her work and pays close attention to the details that make a difference. One thing to note is that English is her second language and Mandarin is her first, so there can be a bit of a language barrier. If you speak Mandarin, communication will likely be even smoother. That said, I found Tina to be thoughtful, professional, and genuinely committed to achieving the best possible result for her clients. I would definitely return for future alterations and would highly recommend Tina's Alterations to anyone looking for quality workmanship and honest, trustworthy service.

She wanted to make sure her seamstress was there & available to measure me. I needed alterations for my sister's upcoming wedding and had about 1-1.5 weeks of turnaround time. Shay assured me that alterations were definitely possible and they delivered on their promise! The pants just needed a simple hem and new waist button, but the dress was a double-layered fabric that I needed to take up a few inches. I think I paid about $70-90? for both, which was a looooot more affordable than other quotes I got from other tailors in the area. They have a small fitting area that's curtained off, so you can try on your alterations to make sure they fit well. I was very happy to see myself in the dress for the first time. Parking is usually available in the lot that the store is at, but there's a couple bumps and potholes to watch out for -- that's not Broadmoor Cleaners' responsibility, but naming it for folks who might have accessibility challenges. The best part is that they're open later into the evening, so you don't have to rush on the way back home from the city for pickup/dropoff. 10/10 experience, and will definitely be back for future alterations!!

Generally, they do ok work in a timely fashion on low-stakes items. I was a bit shocked when a…read morefamily member took a very sentimental suit here. I would've warned them based on my previous experience (see previous review). I was curious, so I went with them to pick up the suit, and it was completely ruined. Shay blamed the maker of the suit for the material rather than their shoddy work dry cleaning the suit. I was appalled because the quality of this brand of suit was why it was purchased! It was meant to last and was meant to be cleaned using dry cleaning methods. It was a recent purchase worn at their wedding and the first time it would be dry cleaned. The awful dry cleaning splotch wasn't just a small ruined spot, but all over, so this suit is no longer wearable. The owner of the suit was so heartbroken because of the sentimental value of it plus it was tailored previously. Shay refused to take accountability, and because my family member already paid, she refused to refund or apologize or anything! She kept blaming the suit maker and material used. Yes, the suit was ruined, but Shay's demeanor made an awful situation feel more terrible than it had to. She looked kind of scared and seemed only concerned for herself and her business and didn't show an ounce of care about her customers. She stayed respectful but very distant and didn't make an effort to right a situation where her business wronged the customer. In fact, they kept the payment for this awful work. And dry cleaning a suit is not cheap! I was right in my previous review. Hence, lowering to a 1 star, and I hope you take heed and won't have to go through what we did! We both had sentimental items dry cleaned here and we both ended up with ruined items. Not worth it, and I'd think twice before coming here.

Since then, every time I've shown up in person to get it, I'm told to "come back later" -- this has been going on for over a year with no resolution. I've lost confidence that my duvet still exists or will ever be returned. Be cautious leaving valuable items here long-term; communication and follow-through have been a real problem. Update: I received a call from the owner stating he has my duvet and it's ready for pick up. I was excited and went to go pick it up. When i looked at my duvet, it is covered with mold. He insisted to tell me that it came with mold, excuse me? The audacity. It didn't come with mold. The mold build up was due to my duvet being in his storage for year and half. Instead of patronizing and gaslighting me, he could of simply tried to at least returned it clean as courtesy. I paid and again left frustrated. I don't understand how anyone does business like this. I called him as to why he would give it to me back like this and he said oh, i can clean it again. Absolutely not!! I feel this was a retaliation for my review. I just went to another cleaner and begged them to help me. So I'll be paying double to clean up his mess. Unacceptable.
