It was a super stressful drive and I thought I was going to have to write the car off as a total loss after Googling the cost of replacement (the individual parts can't be fixed). Well, it's hard enough to find a shop that knows hybrids AND will replace a transmission (the dude at the dealership couldn't even give me a quote), but they were also willing to do a used one, and at a reasonable price! Since then I've driven my car hundreds of miles around the desert (including up that grade to Yucca nearly every dang day) and now back to Portland and it drives beautifully. Thank you so much for your great work!

His shop was recommended over 10 years ago and I trust no one else with my two vehicles. No BS, just a straight talk assessment of what's wrong and what, if anything is necessary to repair it. This trip was prompted when I spotted a little tranny fluid on the driveway under my Corvette. Dropped it off with a friend to pick me up. He even had Brian take a test drive to put Kevin's mind at ease about a noise coming from his high-milage minivan...NO CHARGE!. My Vette, not so lucky. The original 38-year-old rear seal was failing. Mark and Brian's accurate diagnosis caught the problem early enough to potentially save me $1000's in future repair costs. Also found an exhaust leak and recommended a couple local shops to get estimates to have that welded. Don't have to visit C&M often but when I do the service and turnaround time always meets my expectations by exceeding my needs.

The shop rarely answers the phone and when I do get through, I'm given vague or shifting timelines about when the job will be finished. I've had to call repeatedly just to get basic updates. A transmission repair can take time, but clear communication is the least a customer should expect. Unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience. I would not recommend this shop to anyone who values honest updates and timely service.

They were far cheaper than the first place and they rebuilt it right at their garage. It was quality work at a fantastic price. And Carlo was very reassuring that the job would be done right. So we looked on YELP and Next Door and decided to have a mechanic check her out. At Lou's we encountered the rare species of an honest mechanic. He checked out the little problem and said "I could begin replacing things but I'm not sure that would solve the issue." He then advised us to hold off for a while. My husband was so impressed...especially since with our other car at home the dealer forces us to spend a fortune on stuff we don't need or they will "void the warranty." So if and when the Lexus really needs work that won't wait, we will be back here. Lou's is what local business establishments used to be like--honest, fair and reliable. Five stars!
