High Ground Electric (great name given high grounding is an electrical term) came to do the…read moretroubleshooting on an electrical problem in our home through the serendipity of another electrician who was recommended by a trusted source being too busy to do the work and they, in turn, highly (no pun intended) recommended this business. We had an excellent experience with the electricians (two on the first visit) when they came to troubleshoot the problem and discuss options to resolve it and then returned (one this time) to do the work on the selected option. We so appreciated the discussion of options because my husband and I have had four custom homes built in the last 28 years and except for this one in Idaho, all of the previous great experiences with the builders and electricians and so we have learned from the previous electricians enough to understand options when presented. It takes time for licensed electricians to present options and we value that they took that time and their recommendations and also that they listened to us for what we were trying to accomplish in correcting the original problems. We also valued the care with which they did the follow up work to implement the solution to the problem. If there was a teensy hitch in the giddeyup it was some confusion in their administration of the scheduling of the follow up appointment, but things happen in that regard when people are busy. The important thing is when the scheduling snafu was resolved, and it was resolved quickly, the work was top caliber. We would trust High Ground again to do any kind of electrical work for us. And here is another great thing, both electricians were such nice men, in addition to being expert in what they do, and when the job was all done the man doing it thanked my husband for his time! Imagine that...it was we who felt they were the ones who should be getting the thanks. I notice Yelp shows this same business in two different locations on Yelp, different only for the street address listed but it is the same business location. I'm going to take the time to post this review at both Yelp locations, and hope eventually Yelp will consolidate the reviews into one place.

Buyer beware when dealing with this company. We called them to ask them to come and check out an…read moreoutlet that wasn't working. This company supposedly does not charge for estimates. The electrician came out and told us that the job would cost at least $1000 because they would have to cut through the concrete. He did not give us a firm estimate because we knew that was much more than we were willing to spend. The electrician told us that there would be no charge since he didn't do anything. Imagine our surprise when we received a bill from Doherty Electric a week or so later for $65 for a "service call". When we spoke to them about it, they said they deserved something for coming out and looking at the outlet and breaker box. After some discussion we told them we would pay the bill and write a bad review about the experience. At that point the owner told us that he'd rather we didn't write a bad review and not to pay, but we sent the check anyway because we don't want another surprise bill from a collection company after they told us again there would be "no charge". I cannot speak to the quality of their work as their electrician didn't do any. But I would not recommend doing business with them unless you get everything in writing up front. They are not ethical or trustworthy.

They confirmed the leak, and checking their schedule, found the soonest opening to be the following Tuesday. (we were without water except for exceptionally brief periods when we turned it on to fill containers). We got a call from the company saying they worked us into their schedule, and would be out the next day - Friday! Everyone we have dealt with have been professional and helpful. They fixed the leak, and then sent out a plumber to check on why one toilet was slow in filling. Everyone has been exceptional, from the office staff we spoke with to the guys who fixed our problem. I spent 30 years in organizational development as a training manager in a large organization. I am not an 'easy sell'. This company has been exceptional.

I will give them props for communication, they sent a text the night before to remind me of the upcoming appointment. The technician Dorian (super nice guy BTW), called when he was about ten minutes out. He was super nice and knowledgeable. The problem started when Dorian found a bad capacitor which needed replacing. He had the part on-hand and when I asked about the cost, he said it was about $200.00 I excused myself for a couple of minutes and went inside to my office (part in hand), and when I checked the price on-line, they ranged anywhere from $17.00 to $40.00 (ish). I'm but no means a cheap skate but take great offense to being taken advantage of. I can only assume they believe they are dealing with uninformed, uneducated morons. I felt zero respect from the owner towards me as a woman and believe he thinks he should get away with whatever he wants to. I wish I could go into more detail, but I believe he would retaliate. They claim to be A+ BBB Accredited when clearly they are not. They also claim to be veteran-owned and I really doubt it based on their other tactics. In my opinion, they act like any lying and stealing from people is their right as a business. My advice is to stay far away from this company. I wish there was a way to stop them from doing this to other people.
