Located next to the Spam Museum in downtown Austin, this local establishment is a great little spot with some great food options, including Spam-inspired food specials. The grilled Spam and Cheese was fantastic! I highly recommend this sandwich. Choose your side, the fries were fried to a nice crispy finish and the tater tots were amazing too. Great family-friendly atmosphere with lots of kids-meal options on the menu. We were there with a large group and the waitress took great care of us, fantastic service with a smile. This is a must stop when you find yourself in Austin, we will definitely be returning to this spot next time we are in town. read more

This place was recommended by the Spam Museum around the corner so we walked over here with my 85 year old dad in a wheelchair. When we got here it was impossible to maneuver the wheelchair past the high top tables to get to a booth. There was a table by the entrance that had just opened up. The waitress said we could have that table. We waited for 15 minutes - they never bussed the table and were never acknowledged again. We walked out and went to Kenny's Oak Grill where we were greeted and seated right away by a very courteous and friendly hostess and server and enjoyed a delicious meal. We had to try the SPAM sandwich because we had just toured the SPAM museum next door. It's a nice pub with a long bar with comfy stools and lots of beers on tap. There is only one star because we had to wait interminably long for our sandwich to arrive and then it was mostly bread with a small amount of Spam only in the middle. My daughter ordered the Chorizo SPAM quesadilla (chorizo SPAM is available only in Portugal or the SPAM museum). Service was prompt and the food was good, especially the cheese curds. Had a lunch business meeting here so the wait staff delivered the drinks fast but left us alone for a few minutes. Something I appreciate when conducting business! After the order was placed the food was on the table in under 10 minutes. If you have read my reviews before you know that is my benchmark. Probably because there is no way I could get the food on my table at home that fast! Everything was served hot and looked great! I ordered the French dip. They serve it without onions...that is another feather in their cap. Who puts onions on roast beef. Provolone cheese yes...onions no way! The dipping juice was very good. What was excellent is that when it was time to pay they no charged everything including drinks. This never has happened before. In the end we left a nice tip and will be back again. This is a great bar in downtown Austin populated by young professionals. The service is great - they are attentive, friendly, and consistent. The menu consists of typical bar food (not bad, but nothing special). Drinks are mixed well, there's a nice selection of beers, and prices are good. Several TVs for watching the big game but not so many as to be distracting. This is a fun place to relax after work or before a show at the Paramount... and there's a patio for outdoor drinking/dining in the summer, a feature that many bars and restaurants in Austin are missing. read more

I came here after the spam museum. Of course I wanted their spam burger! It was surprisingly tasty, though it lacked mayo (guess you have to ask for it). The fries were frozen; arrived hot but bland. My wife ordered the fried chicken, which was overcooked and chewy. I think I would pass on this place unless you want a spam burger. The place is more bar than restaurant, with a healthy dose of what seem to be regulars. Great beer selection on tap. Definitely a bit on the loud side (conversations mores than music). Service was nice and friendly. Bathrooms were clean and well equipped ( two urinals and one toilet). All in all, I'm not overly impressed with anything but the spam burger. read more

My husband is the most tolerant eater I've ever met, but the PB&J burger had him gagging. Something about the flavor combos just really didn't sit well with him. So don't order that or the tacos. My street tacos were just dry and flavorless and the corn tortillas were raw and stiff, not fried or steamed to make it so they won't break while you're trying to eat it, ya know what I'm talking about? Also we had to wait forever to finally get a our bill. I had to go up to the lady working the bar and ask her for it cause our waitress was nowhere to be found. Just not a good day at the B&J. Stopped in for lunch last week before my meeting started and mainly was there to try my first ever SPAM burger. The place was crowded and they do have free popcorn which is a nice feature while you wait for your meal. I can honestly say that the grilled spam burger with cheese, onion, lettuce, and tomato was quite good and I really didn't notice that it was spam. Not sure if it was due to being grilled or that all the toppings covered up the spam burger but I would not be afraid to order it again next time I am in Austin. Went with my family for a bite to eat on the way back the Minneapolis. My wife and I both ordered the fourth street burger. My tots were fine and her fries were fine, but both of us had burned and dried out burgers. As a local: this is the best place to get a burger. Food is cooked to order and always hot and fresh. Service is friendly, and you're never left wondering where your server is. Not yet old enough to drink, but from what I can tell beverage options are plentiful and there's definitely enough non-alcoholic beverages for the younger set. Two things to be aware of: you seat yourself, so be prepared for that, and if you plan on bringing kids, remember that it IS a bar, so keep that in mind when planning when to stop in- don't bring children during peak bar hours. read more

This is obviously a bit of a tourist town. After visiting the Spam Museum we wanted to grab lunch before we left town. The food was very good. I had the chef salad and my husband had the French dip. We had cheese curds as an appetizer. The cheese curds were a little salty but I blame that more on the cheese itself. My husband said the meat in his dip was of good quality. The sandwich seemed a little small. Smaller than what you typically get dining out. Now for the salad review. The lettuce was fresh and overall the salad tasted good. But, the amount of lettuce was the equivalent to a side salad. I got a nearly $10 SIDE SALAD y'all. They seemed to give more toppings that lettuce itself. The "garlic toast" as they called it was the size of a 1/4 inch slice of a baguette the consistency of a crouton. Now I have no idea what prices were like at other establishments nearby so I don't know if they were higher or lower. All I can say is that if I wouldn't have had some cheese curds I'd have left hungry. Portion sizes at restaurants are generally much larger than one should consume in a sitting so although I appreciate the smaller portion, I was way overcharged. A $9.50 salad should be sized accordingly. The place was clean so all I can fault them for was prices. I don't think I'd eat here again. read more

After visiting the Spam Museum and being tempted by their free samples, we decided we'd try one of the local restaurants that features Spam on its menu. The Museum helpfully provides a list of local restaurants and notates which ones serve Spam items. B&J has an add-on Spam menu in addition to their usual menu. I chose the Spam sliders and my daughter chose a grilled Spam and cheese sandwich. We were both pleased by our choices, and recommend both items. We also had the fried cheese curds, which were good but not noticeably different than fried mozzarella sticks available anywhere else. We were quite satisfied and were happy that we chose B&J's for our after-Museum lunch. We'd come here again. read more

Decent bar food. My husband had the wings and said they were great! Good prices as well. The only negative is that they seem understaffed. It was packed when we arrived and the few empty tables they had were still piled with dishes, the bartender finally cleared one for us, he also ended up waiting on us and taking care of all of the patrons sitting at the bar. He was very courteous though but could have definitely used another person so he didn't have to wear all of the hats. read more
