I had a great experience getting an art print framed. Although my print is cheap, they treated it carefully and helped me pick a mat that really complements the piece. Furthermore, I needed the backing to be applied in an unusual way (because of a weird fixture on my wall), and they were able to find a creative solution. I found the proprietor really pleasant to talk to and I look forward to working with her again. In general, framing is currently quite expensive because of supply chain issues, but I was glad to be able to support a local shop rather than settling for a pre-made plastic frame from a store. I went to a bunch of framers in the city and so glad I traveled here from word of a friend. I had a lovely oversized print that was sitting in my room that needed a custom frame and everywhere I went was ridiculous. I walked in wanting a simple black frame and walked out with a frame that I'm still geeking out about after a couple of months. The lady who works there has a such an eye for framing, it really is an art. She spent an hour with me showing the black frames I was thinking, then last minute showed me this beautiful Italian clear frame with a mirror inlay. Honestly, just wow. It is definitely worth investing in a framer then buying something cheap online. My friends & family are in love with it just as much as I am! Two weeks turnover. Would 1000% recommend! read more

Do not waste your time to get any of services from here. The guy came to my house with my apartment super to get an appointment for fixing my window and he would come on Wednesday around 10am. Even my super wrote down what he said right next to him. He did not show up without any notice and he called me a week later he was supposed to come now but not possible so cancelled in last minute and then re scheduled to week later, it was yesterday. He did not show up again. I called him today and he promised me to come between 2pm and 3pm so I postponed to go to Westchester where I had to pick up my stuff. Guess what. No show without any call or text. I have no idea how this store runs the business in this neighborhood. No honesty, lack of professionalism and give a shit about future customers. STAY AWAY! AMATEUR HOUR. Completely unprofessional, low quality materials and shoddy work. If you're going for that institutionalized prison cell look, go right ahead! Screen frames were made out of heavy duty stainless steel, which were bolted down with must have been spare parts from the Brooklyn Bridge, blocking opening of one of our windows and left a nice gap on the other side for some critters to come right in this summer. In the event we really needed to break out of Riker's, 4 nice heavy duty handles were screwed into each screen so we could get a good grip just in case our doorman building went Mad Max and we needed to make a beeline like batman and robin. Spoke to Tony and had to chase him down to refund us on his engineering marvel. He agreed to refund after explaining he created a fire hazard by bolting us in. 5 weeks of chasing him down and having his wife cover for him ended up with a special trip to his store where he denied me a refund like the tough guy he is. After threatening to setup up camp in the store, his wife talked some sense into him and we FINALLY got our refund. Plenty of better screen guys out there. Save yourselves the hassle read more

Framing things is VERY expensive. That said, this place is wonderful. They have been in the neighborhood for a long time, and the service was excellent. One of the owners suggested frames for two prints and understood perfectly what we were looking for. When one of the frames came in damaged, they rushed the return and had them done in a day. The work is really beautiful. They also do home decor such as window treatments, and I think I saw some carpeting...? Really, really fantastic business. Makes me glad to live in Inwood. read more

Delivered a painting for framing they would have it ready in two weeks. The first time i came and tried to pick it up, they didn't have the painting ready, and asked me to go to the workshop to pick it up. Anyway went down to the store to pick it up later, when i gave the manager the recite, she didn't know anything, so i had to read her the recite, She looked very distracted, when she finally found out what to look for, she didn't give me the right painting, she gave me a empty frame if i hadn't checked it, i would be without any painting at all. so i went in again told her it was no painting in here. And then she gave me another wrong painting. And then when i asked her if she knew where anything is, she started yelling and acting very inappropriate and very rude. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there, they have no system there, no labels on the pictures. The place is a mess.... I really regret going there... read more

Local Artists are moving into Inwood in Upper Manhattan so one would think that these professional framers would know their business. For one thing they are very very very slow. If you need something in a week or even two don't count on it. This is a general consenses based on experience from individuals and businesses in the area. Secondly, besides knowing they were slow working, I had brought in a soft pastel painting to be framed for a juried exhibition. It was on the short list for an award. We picked out a frame - which took over an hour since so many they had on display were discontinued, and finally picked one. Here is the real problem: I was told by the woman who owns B&H that she deals with lots of artists and knows what to do with pastels. I had told her not to bang or do anything to upset the dust on the paper as it will come off and smudge. After being assured - SHE USED A STAPLE GUN to keep the painting and backing on. THIS SHOULD NEVER BE DONE WITH A PASTEL EVER. Very angry I told her to just give me the frame, glass and backing and I will do the rest. She gave me the "good" price of $85.00 then reduced it to $80.00 and was going to charge me $5.00 for putting on the screws for the wire. The frame was 52.00. The rest was glass and backing. BEWARE PASTEL ARTISTS! Speaking to other pastelists, words were used such as; horrific, stupid, get yourself another framer, "yeah, they will tell you they know what to do but don't". I agree with all of the positive reviews here and found B&H from their others. I moved into a new apartment and needed window screens. I called B&H to explore screens for casement windows in my apartment. I set up a consult with Tony and he came by, as scheduled, a few days later. He measured and provided me with options. I chose one and Tony gave me a very reasonable quote along with his expected timing to follow up on the installation. I paid him the 50% deposit (he would not take more than that until completion) and heard back a few weeks later to schedule. Again, everything was completed exactly when and in the way he explained. I was very pleased. I also needed to replace a hung window screen and he would not even charge me for that and made a separate delivery when it came in earlier than the new casement screens. What impressed me the most was the high level of service and personal attention I received. You could tell that Tony and his family (it is a family business) really take pride in their work. read more
