The symptoms were so obvious that my wife even diagnosed it after quickly looking that it was a bad alternator. After these shade tree mechanics did their inspection, the said that it was 100% a transmission failure. And that to replace would be $4500 in parts and labor. Of course we had our suspicions, so we had it towed from there to our local mechanic in Rockland County. Turns out it was just the alternator after all. $550 for a new alternator with labor included. These guys are either the most stupid, incompetent mechanics on earth or shameless crooks who take advantage of people they think don't know any better. So either way I hope I can pay them back with a warning to you all. To mechanics have a obligation to be fair, honest and ethical. I truly hope I hurt their business. What the did was despicable. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!! My daughter is a single mom with a disability. That 4500 vs 550 repair bill was the difference between her giving the car back to the bank vs being able to afford to keep it.

I dropped it off just hoping for a quick inspection. He was very busy which actually made me feel good about the place. He was nice enough to let me leave it and he got to it within a couple of hours. He showed me that the back brake pads needed to be replaced instead of just telling me. It was explained to me in detail what was happening and why with the brakes. In my opinion this a very honest and stand up place of business. I wish I lived closer because I would make this my new go to mechanic.

Unless you go here. Then, THEY'LL pump the gas while you remain in the warmth of your car or fix yourself a cup of coffee inside. There aren't many full service stations around anymore, and fewer still with a nice clean well stocked convenience store. They open early and close late, the guys here are always friendly (it is amazing what a difference that makes), probably because they can set their watch by me after 10 years of regular patronage. All I asked was for an oil check, in a very calm voice. I am in total disbelief that this is how they speak to a paying customer. Will never ever return!!
