I reached out to Valot General Contractors through a friend of mine about my situation and they worked with me on the materials and how I wanted to get the project done. I'm definitely not the easiest customer to have because I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but they EXCEEDED the expectations!! My original contractor half assed the work so they didn't have an easy job to complete because they also had to fix up the previous mess. They did absolutely amazing and Pedro was always on time. He worked with my busy schedule to make sure we could complete the job correctly. Susie, the project manager always made sure I was up to date on the project and what was needed. I will definitely be reaching out again to have them do other projects for me in the future.

His guys told me that they were being asked to do things they didn't know how to do, and it became evident in their slowness. For instance, the day before he walked, he sent two guys to my job--one a painter and another a helper - to tile the bathroom shower. When I asked why it took them all day to only lay 3 tiles, they told me that it took him 4 hours to measure for the tiles, and the other time to lay them. I spoke to the office to complain, and she defended them. In the end, this contractor took a large commercial job, and his workers told me that he would be fined if he missed a deadline. Despite the fact that he was a month past my deadline, he choose to pull his guys after I'd paid him $26,000 (Full payment). I anticipate that he will respond by saying that he ran into things he did not expect. That is true. He had to remove the sheetrock from about 15 feet and replace it, rewire 5 electrical plugs, and do some extensive plumbing work. We made financial arrangements for the extra work, and I acknowledge that it pushed back the timeline a little. But that does NOT give him an excuse to walk away from a job that he was paid in full for. I DO NOT recommend this contractor--he uses amateurs that cannot get the job done. UPDATE: I am having to redo a lot of the electrical work he did, and the windows he installed are wrong. They open crooked and get stuck.

I appreciated that JJJ answered my call, came to my house to give an estimate, and kept me updated along the way. Once I got the estimate, I was able to get the work started. I will say, I also appreciated that the pricing was reasonable as well. I know lumber has gone up in price and I did account for that, but I wasn't comfortable moving forward with something outside of my price range. The work was done on time and completed quickly! Chris Sanchez (owner) and his team spent the entire day (9 AM - 8 PM) repairing the damage (and building a new box for my water heater to sit on) for a price that was so incredibly reasonable, I was floored. The quality of the work is top-notch as well. I know where the holes were, and even I have trouble picking out where they were - and I haven't even had the walls repainted yet. Below is one of the holes (the largest one) before and after. (That is not Chris going through my entryway floor. We had to have another contractor for that. As I said, this was a disaster - all the way down to the foundation of our house! :( I've had several not-so-good contractors over the years and it's really led to me not trusting anyone, but when you're in a desperate situation with extensive damage everywhere, you don't have a choice.
