The tile in one bathroom was discolored, and he said it could be cleaned and sealed, and we needed tile flooring in our other bathroom replaced. Randy was friendly and approachable, and I planned to see how the smaller project went before hiring him for the larger project we needed tackled. Unfortunately, the experience was awful. A subcontractor/employee showed up on the agreed date to clean and seal the tile, and spent a couple of hours what sounded like physically scraping the tile - not what I expected. His coworker showed up a couple hours later, and told me that this plan was not going to work - that even if they could get the tile clean and seal it, the staining would come right back. He told me to have them leave, because Randy would still charge me for them being there. I went in the bathroom after they left, and it literally looked no different except there was dust everywhere - they did not clean up. I waited for a follow-up call or email from Randy - nothing. I was mad, but decided to put it behind me. A week later, I received a bill. I wrote a very frank email to Randy explaining my disappointment with the workers sent, the fact that no work was even done, and my confusion that he didn't even bother contacting me afterward. He apologized profusely and said he would follow up with me the next day. He did not follow up with me about the work, ever. But I have still been getting bills from this company!! I have emailed him multiple times, and he's told me to ignore them, but that is not an acceptable response - every time I see one of these emails, I am newly angry about the time I wasted on this endeavor. I gave him plenty of time and opportunity to make this right, and he did not even bother to try. I am writing this review because once again, I have gotten an invoice for this "work". Would not recommend.

If I could give negative stars it would be at least negative 10…read more Stay away from this service provider and from Peter. He charged me $1500 for a shower tile cleaning and regrouting. No words needed, just take a look at the pictures. In addition to that, I have not been provided with a written estimate. We agreed on $540 for tile cleaning, repairs, recaulking for a shower + $125 for bathtub recaulking. When he started the work he suggested to redo grouting for the whole shower: I'll do it for one fifty" he said. I repeated to make sure "one fifty"? Yes. So I assumed he'll charge me an additional $150 for regrouting. It turned out he meant $1500. This business should not be on a market at all. I was not provided with any receipt as well. Update. The answer from Peter is just a joke. The pictures he provided as "before" are actually pictures "after" so nothing changed accept for the neat unsanded grout that I had was removed and replaced with rough sanded grout, the excess of which was not removed properly, so my whole shower has a rough surface now. Very hard to clean surface. One more time - pictures Peter provided in his reply are pictures "after" not "before", so he didn't even clean the tile in corners! (I paid him for tile cleaning and regrouting. (I didn't pay you $550 for four corners- are you insane?! The estimate included thorough cleaning!!! Which you did do as well. My shower actually looked better before, I regret that I ever hired you. I doubt that any of 4-5 starts reviews are true customers' reviews. I regret that I didn't check all of them before hiring. The only true and honest review is from Charley. This business is a scam and they don't have any experience working with tile cleaning and regrouting. P.M. I request the receipt from you business.

He mentioned that they could also refinish the engineered hardwood floors, which had started to look pretty worn from the last tenants. And, he said they could also clean and seal the Saltillo tile at the outdoor patio. He explained exactly what they would do to clean up the finishes, which products they would use to refinish and seal them, and how long each endeavor would take. The next day, Peter and his crew were out in force, they did what they said they would and everything looked spectacular. Peter even came out the next day to make final touches on the shower. I really couldn't be happier with the work they did, inside and out. I recommend them highly for the quality of their work and professional integrity.

If you are looking for a simple repair or a straightforward project, Eshed may be a great option…read more However, if you are looking for very utmost craft, precision (ie. 1/8" grout lines), working with curved tile shapes and expect a professional partnership throughout where there is no harassment and unsolicited comments beyond the scope of the agreed upon project, then this is not the small business for you. I, too, found Eshed via his five star reviews but was completely disappointed with the way the project unfolded. The initial project quote was 15 business days. Though I had to unexpectedly travel for work and attend jury duty, I ended up being without a kitchen for 2 months. Expectations were not met. Partway through the tile project, my closet broke and a closet expert came to assess my storage needs while Eshed was at the property working on the kitchen backsplash. While showing the closet designer my dresser drawer, it tipped over due to all the drawers being opened. We called Eshed in to help us rotate the dresser back upright and I thanked him for his help. I carried on with my closet consultation. At the end of the work day, while Eshed and I were discussing progress, Eshed made a comment about seeing all of the underwear in my dresser drawers and breezed past it as if it was part of standard conversation practice. In addition to this, while wrapping up on a Friday, he has sent me photos of where he's headed for the weekend and at one point even verbally suggested that I go with him to climb rocks on the beach. These instances, though not tied to the project, demonstrate a lack of professional standard that I expect from the highest quote that came in during my research for a quality tile installation. When all the tile was installed, right when the first wall's grout was applied in the kitchen, I was shocked to realize that the spacing that we were aiming for (1/8") was not at 1/4" or greater in some areas. I asked him if he used spacers to control the spacing and he said no. I asked him why he didn't use spacers and his response was aloof, telling me it was inefficient. This is not the bar of craft of excellence once expected from a project where the tiles cost more than the labour and the labour was already the highest bid across 5 businesses. Upon project completion, the matte black door knob on my front door looked like a blender had been taken to it because of all the broken tiles he was managing while going in/out of the property to cut tile pieces. I pointed this out and he did not make any suggestions to make this right or compromise. Lastly, he had an unprofessional meltdown in front of my electrician, a fellow tradesperson after passively suggesting that the electrical outlets need attention and that I should bring the electrician back (for the 3rd time). He raised his voice, got overly dramatic and read the text message he wrote me in front of the electrician to prove a point that only worsened his credibility. On the final day of completion, instead of calling me out of my office to confirm that the project was complete, he texted me while leaving the property and told me to send a check. No final walk through of the work was discussed. It is likely Eshed will respond publicly with a rebuttal, but I hope these examples as a whole give you the context you need when considering your next tile needs.

I was looking to get some glass tile repaired in my Master Bathroom. It was a small job. I sent out…read morea request on Yelp and got quite a few replies. Unfortunately, of all the responses, only two were interested - mainly because of the tile being glass. One company came out and looked at the prospective work and DTLA wanted some pictures and specifics via text and or email. Both company's bids were the same. I sent messages to both to discuss the job further. DTLA responded, and the other one - blew me off! So I spoke with Bill at DTLA Tile. He explained a lot of information about the glass tile, and the possible reasons for the cracking. We worked out the details and set the dates for the repairs - which were planned for one and a half days. On the first day, I overheard the tile technician (Alesandro?) talking to Bill on the speaker phone speaking Spanish. (I speak a little - enough to get by when necessary) He was discussing the difficulty of the work, and Bill replied that there was a "contracto" and they had to honor it. Alesandro worked all day chipping away at the glass tiles removing them. It's a very slow process with glass and makes quite a mess. He was always wearing proper protective gear to prevent injury. Had to make a Home Depot Trip for supplies. He got all of the tiles removed on the first day and on the second day began cutting tiles - when he discovered that he was going to need the wet saw to make the proper cuts on these tiles. He left and came back shortly with a saw and proceeded to cut and install more tiles. At the end of the second FULL day of work - the tiles were installed and he would be back the next day for grouting. We found a couple of MINOR issues that we wanted to have modified. One - meant removing and replacing a tile. But they gladly did that and even made another Home Depot Trip to get some Grout/Caulk to finish up the job. Alesandro left in the early afternoon of the third day. The job had taken almost twice as long due to the complexity of the glass tile. But the price was the same as agreed upon in the "contract." Bill contacted me a day or two later wanting to stop by to pick up payment due, and to inspect the final job. He came in and took pictures of the work and we had a nice conversation about the project and he was complimentary of some of the work that had been done in our house. I had some questions about some other things and he gave me a couple of referrals. This is a GREAT Company to deal with. They EXCEEDED my expectationsI highly recommend DTLA Tile and Stone.
