Absolutely loved this spot. The mala broth was super spicy and the tom yum was so unique, I never had Thai flavors at a hot pot place. The unlimited menu is huge and everything I had on it was great, the brisket, veggies, side dishes like fried chicken. Oh and don't skip tha beef fat rice. I left very full and satisfied.

I really enjoyed eating dinner here! I thought that the cost of the all you can eat option was super fair. The quality of the meat was really good, and I also loved the many different types of mushrooms I could boil! Plus, the egg was delightful. I liked soft boiling the egg and then dipping meat in the yolk. The shrimp tempura was also fantastic. I don't think it was tempura, per se, but it was some of the best fried shrimp I've had in recent memory; I don't actually care about the improper nomenclature. Service was good and I liked the murals on the walls! Next time I come here, I hope the soft serve ice cream machine is working again.

Excellent restaurant. Good service, good food. It's been a year since I discovered hot pot and I'm always happy to find a new place that I can go to. It seems to be one of my favorite types of restaurants now. We recently discovered Azure Hot Pot. It was packed full of people, they asked us if we had a reservation, which we did not, but they found a spot for us. So take that into consideration if you want to try it, you might want to call and book a table. I had never ordered all you can eat style before this. I thought it was a decent price to pay for all you can eat. And I'm definitely looking forward to going back. The food was delicious.

Loved the atmosphere. Artwork on the wall was fun. Was seated quickly. All you can eat hot pot? Yes please! Been a hot minute since we did hot pot, so it hit the spot. Will be back!

Good experience nothing fancy but their births are delicious. Tom young soup is a mild spicy but so flavorful. Great variety of meats and must try the mushroom variety. Less than $45/persom They have beer and sake too.

Very welcoming interior, & friendly wait staff. The sukiyaki and mala broths were tasty. The cuttlefish was a unique menu item I haven't had before. We ended up having 4 kurabata pork, because they were just that good. The pitcher of singha was also a pleasant surprise.

All you can eat hot pot with various prices for kids, adults, seniors which is cool and a nice aspect. Meat was really good but very very thin. But because it was ayce it wasn't a huge issue. Ayce also comes with a scoop of ice cream for dessert which was a good touch! They also make it easy to order more food by scanning a QR code at the table instead of waiting for the servers to come

Excited to find this Thai/ Japanese hot pot on Shattuck so we decided to give it a try. Clean, college vibes for interior, they were not busy so we got seated right the way. It's AYCE with a few selections.for broth. We decided to try the Tom Yum and Miso. Both broths and the 3 dipping sauces were flavorful. For the AYCE we feel the portion they brought out were very small. The ingredients were fresh enough but perhaps the portion were served on tiny plates that made it feel a bit budgetted. They checked in often enough to see if we would need anything else but for the price and how little everything was we didn't find the value in it. Also the side dishes were not good very school cafeteria like, the smallest dingy bowl.of fried rice, dry pot sticker, I can barely finished one tiny tempura shrimp...so I get the little bite side serving, since you can't finish them anyway...lol Btw a small cup of hot tea with a tea bag is $3. You could ask for more hot water but perhaps a pot with the same one tea bag is better...I have mix feeling about it, since there aren't too many Thai and Japanese hot pot in one location we may come back to eat but still feel that it is not worth the price. The convenience and.comfort.of a buffet, self service even for the veggies should be a bit better. So service 4 star Food more like 3.5 Ambience 3.5 Overall 3.5 got an extra half star for the broths ( I could taste MSG but not over powering but that's what brings the umami flavors a quick and cheap fix to a soup base)

Food was pretty average. We wished there was a sauce bar, they have three pre made that they serve you. They were also out of many appetizers that they said were included in the price. Ice cream was good!

Delicious hot pot spot! Definitely needs more love! Unlimited meats, sides and soft serve for a great price. Me and the wifey enjoyed our meat with some sukiyaki and miso soup bases and our favorite meats were the lamb and beef belly. The beef fat fried rice is a MUST try. Def will be back! Curtis our server was awesome!

Great little neighborhood Thai style hot pot. Expect chill vibes, attentive servers, and quality ingredients. Naturally, don't compare this place to places that do a la carte but within the AYCE family? Pretty damn good. Oh! And unlimited soft serve ice cream!

===TL;DR=== - AYCE MEAT only (from my experience) - Tom yum and Mala spicy soup - Street parking ===TMI=== The moment you walk in, you're immediately greeted with their primary color space. Couldn't tell if they're not popping off yet or it's cause we came on a Sunday evening. The server was very sweet and nice. Good meat quality, on the thinner side. Broth used were also tasty. The server was very attentive whenever our meat was running low. Didn't notice there was a time limit so that's always a plus for those with bigger appetites. Don't let the thin slices fool you cause before you know it, your belly gets filled to the brim! The highlight was their sauces! Personally the Thai one was my favorite so don't be shy to ask for a refill when you're running low! Although they were AYCE, we're not sure why we got charged for extra udons.. -shrug-. The menu state "All Hotpot We serve with Vegatables and Noodle" but they also have an add on vegetable menu so I'm assuming you don't get free refills... and ONLY the meats were AYCE. Right when you thought your battle is coming to an end, they remind you that there are still soft serves to end the meal! Yes, soft serves, not ice cream. Thai tea and vanilla. They don't have an elaborate menu but have all the shabu staples. Give them a go if you're a shabu fan!

My favorite is the Lamb Hot Soup, and today my husband ordered the Curry Flavor Hot Soup -- he said it was delicious. For the service, I have to say the lunch service wasn't great this time. We had to grab most things ourselves. I could've asked the staff, but since our table was behind the counter and the staff didn't seem very friendly or smiley, I didn't really feel like calling them. When we came during dinner time before, the service was much better. I like that this place has a reward program, and the restaurant itself is pretty clean -- including the restroom. Overall, it's okay. Not bad at all, but I do hope they can improve their lunch service.

It was our first time, but the process was pretty straightforward grab a bowl and tongs by the entrance and start picking from a great variety of meats, veggies, and more. I went with the signature spicy hot pot broth (medium spice), and I highly recommend it so flavorful! Prices were fair for the quality and amount of food, and I'd definitely come back. Only downside was that a few ingredients in the freezer weren't fully stocked, but honestly, still an easy 5 stars from me.

"Hot Pot, Mongolian Grill style, in downtown Berkeley"…read more Came here on Black Friday evening at 6:45pm, and it was pretty empty in the restaurant. The place is BRIGHTLY lit, but I confess I would have been confused on protocol without coming with two past diners. There are some large bowls on the side and tongs, and you stack the meats, veggies, and starches from the adjacent fridge/ freezers in the bowl as you walk in, then hand it to the cashier and note which broth you'd like. They then cook it up and bring it out to you. Because they cook it with materials you picked (rather than then giving you ingredients and you cooking it), that's why I call it "Mongolian grill style". The process was a bit difficult-- I don't know Mandarin, and some choices were only labeled in Mandarin (or were clearly mislabeled). For instance, I saw something that looked like fake crab meat sticks, but later discovered it had some sort of meat filling that was not obvious. I picked as best I could though, and everything looked to be in good shape/ quality. The choices were broad-- many veggies and meats, some starches like ramen or other noodles, etc. I got the signature spicy with a setting at mild, and it had some zing but was very doable for me. One of my dining partners had the tomato and asked for "no" space, and she got what she requested-- said it tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. Meanwhile others with us got the Sichian spicy and were sweating hard. The food took maybe 10 minutes to come out, which was fine. The price was about what you'd expect for the downtown Berkeley area-- not "cheap" but reasonable for what it was-- cost about $150 for the 5 of us. Overall, I enjoyed it. Not something I see myself craving and running back to, but a decent choice in the area.

He told us to hurry up and get out rushing us, whilst giving attitude and throwing a napkin or rag on the table. As well as everyone who has also said a review, this is a self-serve hotpot place as the waiters do not do much as just bring us our bowls and clean up every now and then. But most of the time you will just see them standing there staring at you, if anything the people in the kitchen probably deserve more than the waiters out there. I just find is severely disappointing that they treat customers like this and over a one-time tip they decide to ban regulars at said restaurant. I find it shameful that they act like this in broad daylight, where was the professionalism, of an adult, nonetheless. It was pretty busy with not a TON of tables, but the service was still fairly quick. Our rolls came out faster than our appetizers, but at least we got everything eventually. We each ordered a miso soup, which was honestly kind of bland. We added some of their red pepper-type seasoning to it & it made it a little better. We also ordered their vegan bao buns & they were SO delicious! Super doughy, & the stuffing was seasoned really well. Their vegetable tempura wasn't bad. Didn't have the same assortment of vegetables most places have, but it still tasted pretty good. Ours primarily had yam, broccoli, & green beans. For our rolls, we ordered: The Cha-ya Roll (The entire sushi roll, filled with asparagus, yam, avocado, and carrots, is lightly battered and deep-fried, Tempura style. Served with special house sauce.) This one was my personal favorite! We also got the Vegan Roll (A large roll with spinach, atsuage tofu, cucumber, broccolini, pickled burdock, seasoned shiitake and campy gourd, and pickled ginger.) I ended up choosing Cha Ya since it was around the area where we needed to be and it turned out to be the perfect choice. We happened to come around noon on a Monday so it was pretty empty. Parking can be a little hectic around the area, but you can get lucky with residential parking as well. They accept cash or Venmo at this time only. Between my partner and I, we got the Senroppon Salad, Hasami Age and a Hana Gomoku. The Senroppon Salad came pretty quickly. It's composed of a lot of shredded root veggies, some tofu strips, edamame, sprouts and seeds mixed with a light soy vinaigrette. I found some inspiration while having this. It's a very refreshing, non-green, healthy salad. Quite unique! The vinaigrette gets a little stronger when you get to the bottom of the salad since those have been sitting in the dressing for a while. Next, the Hasami Age was something my partner was intrigued about. It's almost like a sushi roll, but made the filling is just corn and tofu. They're wrapped with a soybean sheet and nori and then lightly battered and fried. It turned out really delicious! The batter was indeed on the lighter side and it didn't feel heavy or oily at all. The corn and tofu mix was a little bland, so I wished they put a bit more veggie variety in there for different taste and texture. The almond sauce worked really well with it. If I have to describe this dish, it's like the offspring of a sushi roll and spring roll, haha. Lastly, the Hana Gomoku! This is like a very healthy Buddha bowl. All the ingredients were laid out neatly on top and there was a lot of veggie varieties! I love that they mixed hijiki into the rice, so it not only added flavor to the base, but also some texture. It was beautiful and delicious. We had a nice, quiet, and enjoyable meal here. I hope to try some of their other menu items when we're around Berkeley again!
