These ladies were so darn patient with an intellectual and physical disabled person who was having a bad day. I mean I kept apologizing for her behavior and they simply stated it was okay. I know some young folks will get a little upset but these beautiful ladies were beyond professional. I will highly recommend them from glaucoma testing, cataract testing totested glasses.. These ladies areawesome. The optometrist we met with was so nice, asked if we had any questions once I asked my question she answered and then wanted to know anything else anymore questions I even asked for her advice for the lady that I took in as far as surgery. At 2:30 I go to the desk as another patient was called ahead of. I go they said the only have one machine that be used. Okay I get that. At 2:40 I am called back for my exam. The machine in question was covered and caps on the lenses. Machine was off no appearance it was being used. After machine I was told to come back for dilation. WTF!!! At Pacific Eye institute everything done in one visit. Don't come here if you value your time. Tell your Dr you want another service. read more

My 70-something year old mother was forced to make an appointment with this place because it's one of the closest in-network offices for her insurance for the laser surgery she needs. Just reaching someone to get an appointment was a hassle. She was finally able to reach someone, make an appointment (that was a month later), just to show up to be told it was cancelled because there doctor is not available. All this after waiting a month, me taking time off from work and driving her to this dump. Then this low IQ, rude ass female at the front desk has the nerve to say we called you yesterday to notify you (as if that's decent notice)...which they did not! After being asked what number they called...she couldn't even come up with the correct number (even though at the time the appointment was made, the number was provided 5 different time). So either they're liars or they really are that incompetent! either way, not an office you should trust your time or eyes to. Will be contacting the insurance company to put in formal complaint. The office is clean and well maintained, the front desk staff were polite and patient with patients. The provider my father saw Eugene Chang leaves a lot to be desired. I went into the exam room with my dad as he is elderly and hard of hearing. The Dr came in appearing to be in a hurry, left the door open, introduced himself and immediately turned his back to his patient and me, asking questions while looking at his computer. Dad could not hear him well- I had to repeat a question- Dr turned and looked at me and I had to tell him to address his patient. He seemed inconvenienced with my suggestion- he was argumentative and rude to dad. First rule when dealing with a patient is to look at them, keep eye contact and don't turn your back to them when conversing with them. Dad did not take his rudeness lightly and told him a few things. It was very unpleasant, and concerning witnessing a physician treating a patient like this. I butted in and asked what my dad needed today- he said there were no needs today, my dad got up and we left. WHY DID I HAVE TO TELL THIS PROVIDER TO ADDRESS HIS PATIENT AND ASK FOR A PLAN OF CARE? I am a retired health care provider of 40 years. I worked with hundreds of physicians, pa's, np's and have never seen any provider this rude, unprofessional and arrogant. Sheesh where do I start? This place needs a complete makeover. The seating is inadequate. There are people waiting outside in 100 degree heat because there is not enough seating. They have a tv but not turned on. So the older people are stuck looking at a blank wall. Many of them don't use cell phones or have eye issues and can't look at their phones. And their service is so FREAKING. SLOW. And absolutely DO NOT check in early because even if you do, the customers who have an appointment before you and come after you will be seen before you anyways. So my advice to you is go on time (not early, trust me on this) and bring a chair to wait outside. Even if you go on time expect to be there well over an hour. Called to make an appointment spoke with Al (who was rude from the moment he answered). He requested the insurance info to "run eligibility" and placed me on hold for over 20 minutes. The line was then picked up and hung up. I work in medical billing and know for a fact it takes less than 5 minutes to run eligibility. I called my primary doctor and requested a change right away. The front desk is the face of a facility, if they cant manage to simply run eligibility I lost trust from the beginning. read more

This is the only place in my life that sets an appointment and keeps me for 2+ hours. The procedure and waiting for dilation process total is about 15 minutes but in the interest of jamming more people in a day than they can handle it's takes more than 2 hours just about every time. Why do we as people come here you ask, because insurance dictates it. If that wasn't the case believe me, I would not give this business any patronage. My wife had an eye issue and while she was there had an exam for new eyeglass prescription. She got the prescription and went to Costco for eyeglasses. When the glasses came in her vision was blurry and gave her a headache. She went back to Costco and the eye specialist reviewed her prescription and said it was way off and we need to go back to the dr who wrote the prescription for a correct prescription. She called several times to contact CES but was put on hold for over an hour. Once someone actually answered, she tried to schedule an appointment but was told they only take appointments for new exams and she would have to come in and wait for an opening with the dr. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. This is my wife's second attempt at eye exams from them and both were a disaster. We should have learned our lesson from the first visit. Follow up to this review- still can't get in to get the correct prescription, it's been over a month with the wrong prescription. First available appointment is March 7th. 2 months with the wrong prescription. We're getting an attorney. This is the worst eye dr in Southern California by far. read more

Avoid this location. It was my mother first time. We don't know the office well. Once she was seen she was told to wait but never said for what. We asked after 10 min and the Dr came out and said she's waiting for be the Dr. The Dr. Seemed annoyed but it's not our fault the assistance didn't explain what was next. She didn't even say what her pressure was. Reading all the other reviews explains how u professional the staff is. FYI to the assistance it will help once you're done with the procedure to explain the next step and not let the patient wonder if they are done. We had an emergency appointment for my son to be seen by an ophthalmologist, and these guys didn't disappoint. We saw Dr. Shelley Tu, and from the very start, everything was clean, well presented, professional, and courteous towards me and my son. They were knowledgeable and quick with their work, but also respectful of our questions. I felt Dr. Sheet was thorough in her examination of my sons eyes and felt she gave due diligence to my concerns. I'd recommend this clinic again, for sure. The staff is here is so friendly and they make sure that you are safe and well taken care of. They are true to their time and the facility is clean with enough staffing to assist you. Dr Chang is the best! i came in with a detached retina on my right eye and in 2 months after a successful in surgery and lasik procedure my sight went from being blind from 2pm to 7pm to now 20/20. Dr. Chang also performed another short lasik procedure on my left eye for preventative measure. Because of Him and the Staff, I am able to play tennis again and enjoy the outdoors. I would recommend this clinic and Dr. Chang. Truly cares about the patient. read more

Office staff's attitude is an absolute disgrace. The place should no longer be open. I had two visits, My first, a few months back, was just as bad as today. Terrible atmosphere, staff have totally zero compassion with a cold attitude. SO called doctor (Asian lady) was completely incompetent. Her fragile inexperienced demeanour really showed. I visited there today under instruction of the practice to return and discuss a plan for long term care. There was no discussion, it was a brief flick through some notes, a 10 second quick look into each eye, then shown the door. I have no words left, totally rude, and I will not be retuning. Been going to Pacific Eye for over 15 years and was very happy with them. My primary joined "Optum" who literally forced me to go to California Eye. First off, I have diabetes and my referral was for an Opthamologist. They had me examined by an optometrist. The exam(s) were minimal, at best. I felt like they could not wait to get me out of there. They initially told me I had to see an optometrist for my first visit so they could determine if I needed to see an ophthalmologist. The next visit, about a year later, found out the week before that I was again seeing an optometrist again. I called them and they told me I did not need to see an opthamologist as any of their optometrist were capable of my needs. They finally agreed to give me an appointment with an ophthalmologist, but first available appointment is 4 months later. I did call Optum and they told me there was no other ophthalmologist that I could go to. I checked with my insurance and they told me it was not the insurance company's instructions that limited me, but Optum's, so I am stuck with totally inept Califonia Eye.I can only pray my diabetes does not destroy my vision. read more

This place is so inconsiderate of peoples time, when you have an appt at a certain time, show up early and still 3hrs later are waiting!!!! Not to mention the person(s) who are driving the patient there and back are waiting! I'm beyond pissed because my mom is diabetic and having to wait this long already pushing back lunch because of this appt. We have to drive 45-60mins here and back depending on traffic as it is.....so waiting 3+hrs is VERY FRUSTRATING AND INCONSIDERATE! When I first started going here it was a nice place to go. I was going in and out. I waited not even 10 minutes in the waiting room. But ever since they moved a few doors down it's been terrible. No matter what time of day you go. You're going to wait a very long time. I had an appointment at 4pm. I had to wait outside because the waiting room was so full. I was finally able to go inside and wait but that was an hour later. I had to wait inside just about another 45 minutes. Then they finally called my name I thought good about time. Nope they took me in the back did the whole take a picture of my eyes. Then they sent me back out to the waiting room for another 40 minutes. At this point I was so angry. So I had no more pleasantries left in me. When I finally got to the back again the nurse did her thing with the dilation drops. I had to wait for the doctor. I can hear him talking and talking and talking to every patient about random stupid things. About cars and stuff. I was just thinking omg, come on now let's go there are people waiting for you. Then I hear him giving a sales pitch to other patients about test trials they can do way over in Pasadena. He was really trying to sell it. All I can hear are the other patients saying no thank you over and over. But he kept pushing it. So he finally comes to me. Looks in my eyes then gives me a eye drop. Then he goes away for a good 15 minutes. I hear him again in the room next to mine. Again with the same sales pitch. I was getting so frustrated. He came back to my room finally gave me the shot in my eye. After looking at the doctor you can tell he was exhausted and not in a very good mood. He was the only eye doctor working there. I finally was done. But I got out of there around 7:30. Sorry but that's not acceptable. 3 and a half hours is just ridiculous. This was 8 weeks ago. I had to go back today. But this time I made my appointment right after their lunch at 1pm. While I was standing outside waiting I over heard this lady talking to an hour. This was around 12:45. She was saying that her dad's appointment was at 10:30 and they're still inside. I was like oh hell no not again. This time I was seen at a decent time. But what bothers me the most is that there is still only one eye doctor working there. So I'm sure the crowds are still as bad as before. Think I'm going to look for a different place to go. Cause this place just went downhill. The wait times are not acceptable. Before there were numerous doctors. Now there is just one. And with just one you can see that he is irritated with people. And you never get that connection with your doctor like you should. Oh and if you're going to make patients wait outside provide some chairs or kick people out that bring so many people with them. read more

Office staff joking around and swearing to one another within the reception area, focusing more on their DIVA attitudes, than the care of a patient. The eye technician unable to fully operate the imagining device as she chews and blows gun while rolling out robotic non-caring demands. "Doctor" - seems inexperienced and unprepared for questions. Also with the worst attitude. Hopefully this is being read by the practice. Try PRACTICE some simple professional mannerly greetings, and for the 'doctor'. The least you could do is say goodbye' - when the exam is finished. I wasn't even looking for a handshake or eye contact, just mumble a simple goodbye, if you do care that much of course. A change in insurance forced me to these people and away from Pacific Eye Inst. A better rating would have been possible except for Dr. Luke. The young lady that was greeting people outside, due to Covid, was not all that nice, but that was not the issue. The staff inside and the tech, Laura, was super.. Now, Dr. Luke, she is a class-ass.. rude, sarcastic, UN-professional jerk. She needs to learn how to speak to people with respect and accept the fact we have the RIGHT to question her on anything that affects our health or if what she says is different from what the patient is experiencing or have been told by another Dr. When I questioned her about my cataracts and the fact that I have fuzzy vision, spots in my eyes, hard time seeing at night and ghost vision, I am a hunter / shooter and have trouble seeing my sights, she said that it needs to get worse before she will fix it. I was told by other Doctors differently and that I should get eyes fixed now. I explained that I drive for a living and when my eyes get worse then 20/40 I will fail the DOT physical and could loose my right to drive trucks and I can not afford for that to happen. She asked if I wanted a second opinion, I said sure. That is when I could see that she lost it and was in a controlled chaos in her head and getting more and more pissed off by the second but, doing her best to hide behind her mask and not show it. After I DARED to question her, she very disrespectfully told me that I could start smoking, that will help my eyes go bad faster, of eat more sugar and become a diabetic, that will get me to where she wants for surgery or hit my eye with something and damage it (which is what damaged my eye in the first place) to make it meet her standards for repair. She said I could pay for it myself, $11,000.00, if I want. She then flung the door open and stormed out and said, you are done and refused to answer any questions. She put my chart on the front counter and stormed back past me, I had to move out of the way or I am sure she would have ran into me. She, over all, is just a complete insecure person that is so stuck on her self that NO ONE dare question her. I have already filed a complaint with Blue Shield, prime care and will be calling my prime Dr for a new place to go. If she is permitted to act like this, the other Dr's may be worse and I am not willing to take that chance. They will know who I am, if they wish to reach out. read more

I wish I could give this company a zero but Yelp won't let me. This office staff cannot run an office efficiently! We have not seen our doctor since November 2020. Three (3) scheduled appoints have resulted in : one (1) "no appointment on their books" when we were standing at the their door with the appointment card in our hand, (2) appointment we sat in the room waiting for the doctor for 1 hour until staff came in and said "sorry, Doctor has an emergency" & third (3) appointment ANOTHER doctor sees us, not surgeon from November and says we need to see the surgeon. YES, THATS WHO OUR APPOINTMENT WAS WITH!! Now had an appointment May 12, 2021, called day before to confirm.....they moved the appointment to June 8 without even contacting us! Beware! Awhile back, the office was rude and had poor people skills but the Doctors were very nice and considerate. This time, management must have replaced all of the front office receptionists because now, the front office ladies were friendly yet professional, knowledgeable, and considerate. But Dr Tu seemed irritated that I could not understand her English because of her accent and pronunciation. For example, during my eye test, it was difficult for me to understand her when she said, "1-2? 1-2 are the same." I kept asking ,"What did you say?"I thought she replied,"1and 2 are the same." After the 2nd time, I could tell she was extremely irritated and impatient with me. I finally realized what she must have been saying each time, but by then, the exam was over. I'm 75 yrs old but I have excellent hearing. Dr.Tu was also was sarcastic about my questions. 5 times she replied, " You made the appointment, so you should know what you are here for." I asked if I was here to get some glasses, TODAY? She just replied over and over, that I should know why I'm here. She never explained what we we going to do, the process or the reason we were doing certain things. She seemed to be in a bad mood and I thought was quite rude to me. read more

Not only did they pay attention and listen to my concerns but had a couple suggestions. Sometimes because of my age , change is sometimes difficult. READ THIS REVIEW.... In 2022, after a regularly scheduled, they were incapable of making an follow up appointment for me in the new year, i.e. 2023. Apparently, their computer system is so antiquated, they're not able to make an appointment after the present year ends. They told me to call back after January 1st, of 2023 to make an appointment. My wife called them today, and was put on hold for 13 minutes before she finally hung up. Called back, and after 7 minutes, the wife was told that their appointment system won't allow them to look at April of 2023, which is when I'm supposed to have a follow up appointment. It is ridiculous that staff leaves people hanging on hold for this long, and even more ridiculous that they can't make a follow up appointment due to their computer appointment system won't let them look ahead in time. If you get referred here because you have crappy insurance, my advise is to demand a referral to some other eye place. I've been on hold on the phone with them for 1.5 hour just to try to book an appointment. It's like that every time. Then they would pick up and hang up the phone. That was just the beginning. It's so frustrating dealing with this office. Staff is so stupid. A few of their doctors aren't any better, from personal past experiences. They bounced us around between 3 different doctors within their office. We ended up having to go to a different clinic because they didn't have the proper testing equipments and their doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong. But the worst part is they let the vision in the eyes get worst and wasted so much time before they transfer us out. It's ok if you don't know how to fix the eye problem, but then waste time and let the eye get worst and not transfer us out to another doctor right away who actually knows how to fix the problem is just wrong and harmful to the patient. Lack of care, lack of follow up, lack of knowledge, lack of logic are just a few understatement about them.
