The food was delicious and so was the service! Everyone was so nice and helpful and the service was fast! Definitely recommend

Rough start. Got sat right away but it took a long bit to even be seen for drinks. Got drinks then our server left. Took another minute for a new server to take our order but he was great! Made the experience better and the food was good. Street tacos and the cheese quesadilla, can't go wrong! read more

Went on a whim after we found Juanita Greenberg's closed unexpectedly & were treated to one of the tastiest and fulsome plates of nachos I've ever experienced in my nacho-munching career. "Special Nachos," my friends, order them once before you die. read more

Let's start off with the positive. Excellent environment. The service and staff was friendly, but that's where it ends. My steak street tacos were tougher than beef jerky. My $24 margarita was absolutely. Horrible. read more

We came to Azul with a rather large party (10+) after the Chs Bridge run. It was the exact chill environment our group needed. We were able to refuel and order post race beers to celebrate. As we progressed through our meal, the resto did get slammed so service severely decreased. It was OK with us as we weren't in a rush but if we were, might have been frustrated. read more

Food was good, bartender was rude and slamming everything down like she was mad at the world. Get out of the hospitality business if you don't like to be nice to people is my advice to her. Atmosphere of the restaurant was nice read more

We came to Azul in downtown Charleston for a very low key engagement celebration. There were only 8 of us, we came on a very slow Tuesday evening. Unfortunately, the server we were assigned had quite a bad attitude towards us, despite us being a very agreeable group. We just couldn't get her to be friendly towards us, and each interaction was quite awkward. The chips were cold and unsalted, salsa was a bit watery and bland. Our orders were taken accurately, and we received our food within fifteen minutes. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, I would say it was average if not slightly below average. The avocado and guacamole were completely brown. The overall ambiance was lovely and colorful, although there wasn't any music playing the night we were there, or it was playing too quietly to notice. Overall, this is the kind of place you would go as a last resort; definitely not special enough for the occasion we went for, and we regretted spending money here. read more

Azul - Quesadilla Fajita - Sports Bars Near Me - Charleston, South Carolina

What a shame, we have been eating here since they opened and always enjoyed the food and service, this time was very different. To be fair, I understand business are suffering with fewer people and higher prices amongst other stressors, this just wasn't a cause for my review. Thursday at about 5:30, simple orders, no special requests, restaurant was not busy ( perhaps 10 diners max). Wife- 2 item combo, chile relleno and taco, chile was obviously microwaved and for too long causing the cheese to harden and the chile impossible to cut. They offered my wife another item which she accepted and no more issue here. Myself- mole enchiladas which were like warm on ends and cold jn the middle, I did not send back as I was hungry and food flavor was great, guessing these are frozen and also nuked but just a guess. In closing, will still likely try again hoping it was an off night, would be sad if we lost a nice addition to our community. read more

One of the last few places downtown that locals can go to and get quality food and drinks for a reasonable price. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. read more

Azul - Great vibes on the porch! - Sports Bars Near Me - Charleston, South Carolina

Though I live only two blocks from Azul, It took me awhile to actually try it. On its face, it looked to me like just another standard industrial-type Mexican restaurant. Boy was I' wrong! Now it's become a regular spot for dine in and take out. Food is absolutely delicious - always fresh ingredients with a nice selection of menu items Last night we took our little dog and sat out on their lovely outside patio and had a few beers and appetizers. I got the shrimp, soup to go (which I hadn't yet tried) tried yet) amd my wife and I agreed that it was astonishingly delicious! . A special, word about the staff. EVERYONE is so nice and friendly. Our server last night (Abigail) was delightfully friendly amd efficient - awesome service. If you are downtown, give them a try. You won't be disappointed!! read more

Food was great and the salsa is AMAZING...Great food and no wait- excellent service from waiters as well

Great food and service! Vegetarian options are great. I'm a bit unsure regarding some of the poor reviews but would recommend it and come again. read more

Sat at the bar for 10 minutes numerous other patrons were waited on my husband and I are both senior citizens so we figure it was because we were old and invisible! Would not recommend. read more

Went for a late lunch - street tacos - tortillas, guacamole and carnitas were awesome

Good food but lousy service. Had trouble getting new silverware due to original being dirty. My husband finally got up and got it himself.

Fast service and easy to order correct portions since you can mix and match street tacos and other items. Atmosphere is nice- seems more bar than restaurant, but was family friendly for us. read more

Please do yourself a favor and try this place. At first I was skeptical about trying this place since it only had a few reviews. For an appetizer I got the queso fundido with chorizo. It was bomb. Then I got the fajita texano. It was so good the meats had great flavor. read more

Great authentic food and plenty of space. Staff was excellent and very attentive. Would recommend

Got my food on a chipped all around plate, I am sorry I didn't take a picture, asked the waiter that it was unacceptable to eat out of chipped all around due to the risk of chipped off glass and he said "well, the plates chip off when washed!" and I replied if he could change/return the plate, he hesitated but finally did. The food was horrible, no flavor, salsa with the chips, no flavor at all, this is not a Mexican restaurant, or the cook is not familiar with Mexican food, no spices no flavor at all would not return, and I know this because I am Mexican and I cook Mexican and not even the salsa is salsa probably from a can never returning read more

A great Mexican restaurant where everyone in my family enjoys. I've eaten a lot of street tacos and these rate at the top. Indoor/outdoor seating with good prices on the peninsula makes this hard to beat. read more

We had lunch here after a bus tour of Charlston and were pleasantly surprise. Lady at the visitor center recommended this place which was so close so we decided to give it a try - it did not disappoint! Great food, generous portion, attentive service - A+!!! read more

Best Tex-Mex downtown, period. Nice ambiance/decor and friendly staff. The food is as good a representation of the style as you'll find, and the prices are ridiculously cheap for downtown. If you're downtown and want Tex-Mex, come to Azul before you try El Jefe or Juanita Greenberg's. read more

Came here as a solo diner after running some errands nearby. Interior is cute and open. The food was good, better than any of the other Mexican options downtown. I ordered the Cheese Steak Burritos, which came smothered in cheese and pico. They were delicious, as was the cheese dip I ordered as an appetizer. The included salsa wasn't as flavorful as I expected, and didn't really taste fresh, and the rice was dry. Chips were very good, though. The service left a lot to be desired, unfortunately. I understand service staff pays less attention to solo diners, since they mean a smaller check, and other bigger parties need more attention, but my server didn't check on me at all during the time I was there. She immediately wanted to take my order when I was first seated, not giving me any time to look over the menu. Luckily I had looked online before so knew what I wanted, but it felt like if I had asked for more time she wouldn't have returned. She also forgot to put in the side of rice I had asked for, so I had to wait until she passed by to ask her for it. If the restaurant had been busy I could understand spending more time on bigger parties, but there were only a handful of people at the bar and two other occupied tables. I also had to wait for a while before I could ask for the check, as she was nowhere to be seen. Food was good enough to return, but maybe I'll wait to go with a group and see if the service is better. read more

Me and my girlfriend dined here and while the food was very good the margarita was good as well the place does have a loud/ noisy vibe to it however, we received bare minimum service from our waiter. He did not refill our drinks he was not very attentive to us; we had to get help from other servers to get through our meal. I don't want to bring race into the play however we are a black couple in a majority-white restaurant and could tell that we were not being serviced the same as the people around us. We decided not to tip and when it was time to pay then our server had life to him again. He stood next to me the entire time while I pulled my card out to pay and even though we weren't ready to leave he constantly tried to get the receipt from us. Once he saw that he did not get a tip he yelled out loud at my girlfriend in front of the restaurant stating that he did not get a tip, then went to another table he was servicing and told the couple(who were white) about how we didn't tip him and how he deserved a tip. We did get a refund from the manager who was very understanding, but will not be back here again. read more

We made a mad dash in the rain to this place from the Charleston museum, and this was an ideal spot to wait out the rain! Very nice ambiance as we sat outside on the covered patio, watching the rain, the park across the street, the wrought iron furniture, the large open windows bordering the bar...just all of it was very cozy. We ordered tacos, steak for my wife, grilled fish for me. No complaints from both of us, fresh, sizeable and filling portions (we had 3 each), and I must say that these were some of the best fish tacos I ever had. My wife ordered a margarita, and I beer on tap. Here again I must report their portion sizes, the margarita came in a fishbowl sized glass, and my mug looked to hold near a quart of beer. Again, no complaints with the drinks, beer was fresh, margarita was fine. Great service too, our waiter was very nice. And then the bill came, pretty reasonable, as I recall it was under $40 with a generous tip. Yup, I'm very happy to rep this place, great food, great ambience, great service, fair pricing, thx much! read more
