I am writing this review based on the food only. If there was a category where you could rate the service, I would hands down give it a 5-star review... But the food was disappointing to say the least. We ordered the tlayuda with 3-different kinds of meat, the flor de calabaza quesadilla, and the amarillo empanada. Everything we orders lacked flavor and the Amarillo empanadas were as tasteless as a food can get. The only salvageable dish was the flor the calabaza cream we got prior to our food coming in. It was very tasty and smooth. The rest of the dishes lacked the flavor a Oaxaca is known for. The tlayuda was folded like a quesadilla, and they added lettuce inside, so by the time it got to our table, the lettuce was soggy and kinda bitter. The flor de calabaza quesadilla was bland. We had to add a ton of salsa roja to get some taste to it, and the worst of the offenders: the Amarillo empanada... Not only was it folded like a quesadilla just like the other two dishes, but it was soggy, tasteless, bland, and just plain inedible. My husband had half of it and spent the rest of the night throwing up in the bathroom. Out of all the things we had in Oaxaca, this was by far the only disappointing meal. If you have the chance, don't eat here. Go to the mercado and look for the places that are packed with people as this is an indicator food is good. Or go to the underground torta places underneath the gazebo in el zocalo. This never failed for us while we were there. I guess we should have known the food wasn't good at this place from the moment we walked in as the place was pretty much empty and they had a worker advertising on the street. read more
