I found this insurance office after I had walked out of La Veros (Mexican Restaurant).
I was insured under Farmers Insurance and had recently received a renewal on my insurance that was much higher than usual. It had gone up a lot, so out of curiosity I decided to get a quote.
Inside the office was clean and looked normal like most offices; chairs, magazines, a television, and desks.
The agent that helped me greeted me with a smile and offered some water. I declined because I had too much food at La Veros.
I started by telling the agent that I had Farmers Insurance and that I wanted a quote to see if he can beat it. The agent asked why I wanted to switch agents? I told him because the insurance had gone up too much and was looking for a better deal. He then followed by telling me that he will give me a quote, but insisted that I talk to my agent first before I make a change. He said it's proper to give my agent a chance to find me a better price and if he can't then I can move on. I was surprised by this, and liked his respect for his competitors. You don't find people like this.
The agent explained to me that he was an independent agent and had multiple insurance companies that he can offer, unlike my agent which is exclusive only to Farmers. He said he offered preferred insurance companies like Farmers, and others that offer same coverage but are not as big as The preferred companies. He educated me over all the different types of coverages and what they meant. Not even my Farmers agent explained these things to me, she just quoted me and I paid.
At the end I walked out with a way better quote and a very good understanding of the coverages. I went to my agent and asked for a review on my policy, but unfortunately they were unable to save me much. My Farmers agent said that many policy renewals had gone up because of recent high losses in our area. It was understandable.
I did go back to Azteca and got insurance through them. The put me with a preferred company (SAFECO), with same coverages, and for about $30 less per month. That is a $360 savings a year.
Give Azteca Insurance a try, they might save you good money like they did to me. read more
