We did not like the food, the prices, or the service. --My meal (chicken and rice) was salty and overcooked. --My wife's meal (shrimp fajitas) was incomplete. They did not bring her the usual topping like pico, sour cream, and lettuce, and they did not bring us tortillas. When we pointed it out to the server, he did not remedy the issue. In fact, the next time he came by he dropped the check on our table as he walked quickly by, and never came back. We decided to cut our losses, pay our bill and leave. --Chips and salsa came right away, took our drink order right away. Never gave us the opportunity to order an appetizer. Food seemed to take a long time to come out even though they didn't seem unusually busy for a Tuesday night. --Expensive We were excited to try the restaurant, because it looks cool and trendy, but we won't be back. Not a good visit. This is our second time here and we won't be coming back. I got a regular portion of tacos and they brought out a lunch portion. Before the check arrived, the manager walked over and asked how our food was. I told her I asked for the regular and got a lunch portion. She said I would only get charged the lunch portion. I got charged the full portion. Also, we got 2 orders of fajitas. Both came out like warm and the beans were cold. Good portion of meat for a lunch portion, but not very flavorful. We also waited once the server came about 5 minutes for a box to take extras home. The restaurant wasn't crowded when we were finished so while they may be short staffed, it shouldn't take so long for a check and box. We won't be going again, which is sad because the tacos are good and the food was better the first time we went. But with so many options in mentor, we will be eating elsewhere. read more

We stopped by on a busy Sat. Night. Had to wait for a table so went to the bar or a pre dinner drink. I ordered the "Top Shelf" Margarita which was $15 or $16. It was pretty ordinary. Then we decided to eat at the bar as we were both hungry. So, we could see the bartenders up close. I was horrified to see one of them pop a drink spoon in her mouth, and use it again on other drinks. With this pandemic - I was absolutely astonished. I would have had a conversation with the manager, but I think he was in a group of bartenders doing shots, with a bar full of patrons. The food was nothing special, for my husband or me. They need a refresher course in sanitation, but I don't think we'll ever go back, which is disappointing, because we were hoping for a high end restaurant. I was surprised to see this place only had 3 stars. I found the food to be good and the staff friendly and attentive. I had the Burrito Azteca for dinner and it was quite good. The Pico de gallo they use was quite good. I learned talking to the staff that it is made in house daily. So based on this first visit, I would recommend this place. read more

The service was unbelievably bad. I had to send practically everything I ordered back because it was wrong. The waitress seemed very uninterested in serving us and didnt seem to really care she messed up my order and my sisters order as well. The food was subpar and bland. Decided on Mexican food, since it's been a while and we were going stir crazy. After taking in the Michelangelo Sistine Capel art exhibit, we headed here. Newly opened, we were pleasantly surprised. First the menu has great dishes to satisfy anyone's taste. Second, the dishes were served in record time, based on the place being jam packed! (Guess everyone needed to get out, freezing weather not withstanding!) AND, third, the dishes were served HOT! Steaming HOT! How often can one say this? Tonight Axteca came through. And finally, fourth, the servings were plentiful, Not often do we ALL get take home boxes, but tonight we did. Looking forward to a second serving at home. Only draw back, 4 stars instead of 5, was the overall restaurant noise. WAY to loud. Not sure if it has to do with the remodel since the building is way opened inside, or just the crowd tonight. Food is good, but I ordered to be delivered through grub hub. They gave the delivery guy the wrong order. When I called Azteca, I was told they couldn't do anything about it because "ma'am, it's cinco de Mayo " No apology. The orders do not have receipts on them, they are not labeled. I was with a decent sized group of 6, a few of our group were from California, or had lived their previously, so you know they are Mexican cuisine snobs. One guest said it was the best carne asada they had ever had, all of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, I had the street tacos and chicken soup AMAZING. Also, the salsa was super delicious and had a great spice to it. Will definitely go back next time I'm visiting Mentor. Just went there for lunch today. My mom got the pablano stuffed pepper thing, that's her go too. She loved it always fresh and flavorful. But let me tell you about the three fish tacos I got. Oh my... grilled fish with a spicy slaw and chipotle sauce. Splashed it with a bit of lime, and my goodness. So fresh. So flavorful! I can't recommend it enough! Our server was awesome. The salsa and chips they give you, is just ok to me. A bit watery salsa, but I still did eat it. It's not like it was bad! But I highly reccomend those fish street tacos. My husband had the street tacos Al pastor and I had the vegan tacos and we were both very satisfied! The food was not only delicious, but presented beautifully. I was truly expecting this place to be really good; but, boy, did they fall flat. I order street corn and the arroz con pollo. This is something that I can get at the other places that I go to so I knew what to expect. The street corn had been sitting out for awhile because the kernels had started to dry up and wrinkle. The lime zest was so over powering that it was difficult to eat. The arroz con pollo came and I was excited to try it. Needless to say, I was horribly disappointed. There was absolutely no taste to it-not even salt! For the prices they charge you would think they could have afforded some spices! I think our server had any understanding of the king's English nor was he properly trained for food service or menu options. He was clueless when we had menu questions. He never checked back with us and twice we had to leave the table to track down help for chip and drink refills. As for the food, on a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 3. With all the Mexican restaurants in lake county this one seemed to be upscale. Wrong! I have been to Azteca 3 times each time was mediocre at best! Tonight was my third and last time! The place is loud and most of the young help just stands around. The staff in general is not very pleasant . The food is overpriced for the quality. Don't waste your time. The food is overpriced. The service is terrible. At 4 in the afternoon, we had to wait to be seated. After we were seated it took 15 minutes for a waitress to come to us. Then we waited over half an hour for our food. It looked like slop on a plate and had no taste. I can cook a better meal at home. The servers treat you like you are doing them a favor by coming in. This chain does not care about customer service. I have been there multiple times. each time, I have had a negative experience. I try to give benefit of the doubt since they just opened, and I would like go support local businesses, but they make this extremely tough. First time we came in, was the 2nd week of opening which I understand was still fairly new, but we were the only couple at the bar, waited 15 minutes to get greeted. we were one of 2 couples at the bar. The food was actually pretty good, so we wanted to try again. We left a decent tip and because we understand this happens, we decided to give it another shot. The most recent time we went, my beer was watered down, and I was trying not to complain but decided to say something, waited 15 minutes for her to come back and nicely mentioned that it just did not taste correct, mind you we know exactly what it should taste like. The response from the bartender was "well you know if I give you another one it will taste the same" the rudest response and without any care for the customer, without even consulting or asking me any questions. Then she proceeded to demand they just changed the keg and did not even listen to what I was saying. I was truly appalled at the way these employees are allowed to talk to customers. The food is pretty good, but for me, customer service is #1. I refuse to support a restaurant that does not understand this. If you want great Mexican food along with the BEST service, Don Tequila is right down the street, we went there and had a great night with amazing service. read more

Very disappointing. The margarita tasted like spiked Mountain Dew and my food tasted like a more adult version of Taco Bell. Nearly $70 bill (which included a 3% credit card fee), food that tasted like fast food, and the server never came to check on us. We won't be back.
