Incredible Mexican food - and at a gas station!! Don't knock it until you try it! My favorite thing to get here is a breakfast burrito with carne asada. Their burritos are amazingly not greasy so I never feel bogged down after, just really full! I've also had their carnitas in a breakfast burrito and it was excellent as well. We get tacos once in a while too and they're great. Their green salsa is delicious and if they bottled it, I would buy it to put on everything. My only critique is that I wish they were open for dinner hours! Maybe they operated that way pre-pandemic, but for now their hours don't typically work with my schedule. I went many times in the past. Almost every time they give me something I didn't order. I even have the cashier repeat what i ordered before paying. It's hard to check before leaving unless you bite into the burrito. If you ask them if it's what you ordered, they will say it is. I can't understand why they don't get it right. Good Mexican food - $1 street tacos are good - I like the El Pastor. The Chimichanga was excellent compared to down the street (aka Taqueria Santa Rosa #5). Cooked perfectly with lots of meat, good salsa, decent chips. it's definitely a gas station atmosphere - but we're not here to dine. It's really great food coming out of a Gas Station. And since it's a Gas Station sometimes they miss things, or there are people in front of you paying for their gas. Great place to pick up good Mexican food if you don't want the atmosphere. This place cooks old steak from the fridge and charges you up the ass for the food. I complained because they gave me half warm half cold tacos and the employees were upset that I was complaining. If you get tacos be sure they make the meat fresh. Save your money and get fresh tacos on Sebastopol road. read more

I was sketptical when I saw the sign: "$1 Tacos," yet I couldn't resist. Call me a skeptic-no-more. Aztec Grill inside the Redwood Market Chevron on the corner of Highway 12 and Middle Rincon Road is muy bueno y authentico. The menu consists of 8 kinds of burritos, 4 types of tacos (5 if you count the $1 variety which I'll talk about in a minute), fajitas, taquitos, quesadillas, and various specials like chiles rellenos and enchiladas and tortas, and side orders of guacamole and salsa and such if you need more than a regular order provides. It opens at 5:00 am each day and also cooks up a number of breakfast burritos and both cheese and Denver omelettes for a price that's right. The market itself sells freshly brewed coffee, regular, decaf and French vanilla roasts and other beverages, so it's one-stop eating. And if you're not into take-out, several clean tables and chairs make it convenient to sit and dine. The $1 tacos did not disappoint. The chicken variety came with a small soft shell filled with seasoned chunks of moist meat, cilantro, onions, a choice of mild or hot salsa and a lime wedge to boot. Tasty. I tried the Nachos, too. Yummy fresh chips smothered in jack cheese, guacamole, beans, sour cream, chicken, onions, tomatoes and cilantro. According to the take-out menu, there are 11 Aztec Grills (Including a second Santa Rosa site on Bennett Avenue) located inside Chevron stations from here north to the California-Oregon border. We were on the road and one of my car buddies suggested that we go to Aztec Grill, Mexican food, Santa Rosa. Okay. I dig Mexican food. This place was attached to a gas station. Literally...approximately 1 foot between the counter for Chevron and the grill. I expected ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from the food here. I was ready to prepare a 1-star review. But alas, despite its sketchy factor, the food was decent for "gas station food" Good size, average prices. I got a steak & egg breakfast burrito (for lunch) for only $3.75. I recommend it! The vegetarian burrito looked particularly awesome too. Not much else to say about this place. Just don't forget to ask for pico de gallo! read more

The meat quality was not great, I was disappointed with the flavor. I guess it must have been the BBQ flavor that threw my palate off. I've eaten at a number of gas stations in my time. Never by choice until I heard about Aztec Grill inside the Chevron station. This place is in my neighborhood, so I decided to check it out. Some reviews say it is like having a taco truck inside a gas station. That is a pretty accurate description. I ordered the street tacos - asada. carnitas, and pollo. The meat in all of the tacos was good, not the best ever, but good. The salsa they put on top is solid and makes the taco. You can also get a beer or bottle of wine at the store when you pick up your food. It is not typical fast food, so be prepared to wait until they actually cook your food and put it together. There is a small area where you can eat, but I think this is mostly a take out kind of place. I will definitely come back here. Good Mexican food that is reasonably priced - sign me up! So months back I heard about a gas station in Santa Rosa which had a place inside serving burritos and they were said to be pretty good. At a Chevron station, really!? On a side note I also learned that a couple Chevron stations were now carrying Biodiesel. Cool! They offered leaflets promoting the benefits of using alternate fuels. Something which I hope would someday become prevalent in my home city, Chicago. There is no difference from the gas station and the restaurant. While the counters are next to each other, it's the same staff that man both. Also the counter where I placed an order for food is where people paid for their gas. Thankfully it's a different gal that makes the food. Their daily special is the $1 dollar taco. What a great price and people often purchase them with a fill up. They should really offer a free one with a 12 or 15 gallon fill up, just to create more awareness. I won't nor can't say I would ever on my own decide to buy food at a gas station. I often travel the highways for great distances and have never had a good experience with gas station food unless it was a popularly known chain doing the managing of the food. This was the first to wow me. I kept low expectations. For about seven and half dollars I got an Aztec supreme burrito with carnitas (like marinated pulled pork), they made it spicy with jalapenos and spicy salsa. All orders come with free tortilla chips. I took mine to go, the bag was heavy like it weighed near a pound. Not what you'd expect at a gas station, good flavors and they were all working together. Each bite had a small bit of heat to it which I enjoyed. Also like another review stated they don't skimp on the meat. If I find myself grabbing another burrito on the go, I'd tell'em to go easy on the sour cream as that was making the bottom too wet. I'd probably also try a dollar taco and for sure, their breakfast burrito. Not something to get a group together for but good stuff for the person on the go. As far as dining in. They offer about six or so round tables with each seating about four. It's a gas station with a mini mart so you can understand that it gets a lot of traffic both for food and gas. Look past the fact that this food is made in a gas station kitchen. Think more of it as a perk to get gas while you visit this restaurant. I snagged a little grub and filled up my tank at the same time. The food was good. I specifically got the chorizo tacos. I always base my opinion on the quality of the chorizo and pico. I ordered two breakfast burritos with chorizo by phone, on the strength of the reviews here. I picked these up 10 minutes later, and we ate them at home. The burritos were just loaded with ground chorizo, plenty of egg, and the spicy sauce was just delicious. In short, we were VERY surprised at the quality of the food. As a testament, they were devoured (and savored) in short order. As one reviewer stated, it is a gas station atmosphere, but it's quite a friendly, clean little grill, and their tables were half full even at 9 a.m. To paraphrase again (lazy me) I wouldn't go for the ambiance, but I will definitely be back to try more of that terrific food! I am so tired of this place getting our orders wrong! We tell them exactly what we want and we ALWAYS get something different back! I ordered a chile relleno burrito - no beans and it came back LOADED with beans. (I freaking hate beans by the way) My bf ordered a breakfast burrito - no potatoes, came back LOADED with potatoes! Yes, this place is inside a Chevron. I've only been to the location at 1100 Bennett Valley (near fairgrounds). Border burrito with pork is the beez kneez. Meat, french fries, guac, sour cream, cheese, and salsa. I was thinking the french fries inside the burrito would be low-rent. Nope, it's good stuff.
