I contacted Arizona Soccer Skills Academy because my son was begging me for private soccer lessons…read moreover the summer. I spoke with Coach Rizzo on several occasions about it, and he kept trying to push us to the summer camp group sessions, which I made clear I did not want. Eventually, Coach Rizzo agreed to private lessons, and I registered and paid the $414 for 6 weekly lessons. After the first lesson, Coach Rizzo suggested we join the group sessions, which I took to mean in addition to the private lessons. Yesterday, we showed up for lesson #2, and Coach Rizzo was not there. When I texted him, he said he transferred us to the group sessions in lieu of private lessons, and when I objected and requested a refund, he said they don't issue refunds. So, it was a bait and switch, and I'm out hundreds of dollars. Their website says they offer private soccer lessons, but only if your child is good enough, apparently, yet they will gladly take your money and provide nothing in return. It should be noted we did attend a trail group session before registering AND PAYING FOR private lessons and then a group session after the first private lessons. We were less than impressed. The teenage coaches kept the kids in a tiny practice space, no even large enough to run in, and did extremely basic drills. (My son is 13 and has been playing recreational soccer for years.) My son was bored and not at all challenged. I do not recommend this organization.

Kids are grouped by skill level to practice drills & scrimmage with others. I really like the practice times/locations (Cooley middle school & Power Ranch) and the coaches (James runs the show but has many assistant coaches working with small groups). My kids understand the game now & have improved as athletes. We've referred a few friends. Great set up all around!

BEWARE..............these guys are a scam and will take your money and run…read more Since we registered our son, most of the classes were cancelled last minute and there is only 1 other kid. the "coached" are kids themselves and literally don't do anything. I can just take my son to the park and do the same. So we emailed them a few times and left a bunch of VMs to call us but not once did we get a response. And when we cancelled the rest of the sessions, they still kept taking the money( at this point they are also thieves). SO be carefully and keep away !

But he loves it! I think the things that make this program great are the short classes ranging from 30-45 minutes. The coaches also cover the basics of soccer in an environment your kids are already familiar with. My kiddo often comes home showing me how he can "tick tock like a clock" (alternate his legs when kicking a ball) or how he has learned to go "fast like a bunny and slow like a turtle". The sessions are low key and they never force the kids to do anything but they are learning even when the kids choose not to participate. I highly recommend this to all my mom friends.

That being said, Paloma Soccer Complex is one of the places that my son plays on occasion. It's nothing super special... If memory serves, the parking lot can be a challenge and I've had to park in the way back past the paved area on a dirt lot and make the trek back to the fields... I also think that porta-potties are the only option for a bathroom and there is no concession (or at least there wasn't when I've been for tournaments). I will update next visit, however! Go with low expectations and you'll be just fine!

I guess on a positive note, I've never been robbed or stabbed while attending soccer matches here. There is a church on the property. If i were stabbed here, does that mean I'd go straight to heaven? Or does it mean that the bad guy immediately gets forgiven for stabbing me? I'm not sure if I'm comfortable at these soccer fields anymore. I prefer the GYSA fields or Reach 11.

They won't let…read moreyou use the facilities because of "COVID" so there is a lot of sitting around in your single room. If they can schedule training time then they can schedule something to do in the down time. Both my brother and I were here under RSL and it seemed more organized and planned. I understand the COVID issues but this is an easy fix. Not sure I'll bother coming back for a second visit this year. Disappointing.

Food was not great, and got old very quickly after a few months. There was nothing around to do because of how secluded it was. I would sit for hours and have many incredibly boring hours of free time even during the school year. The training itself was decent, but nothing you can't get from a local competitive club team. The tryouts were very selective, considering that most of the teams were already selected before the first round of tryouts even arrived. It was very unorganized in that manner. The education is online mainly and you usually finish classes early making it even more boring. I have had friends who had left after a year because it was so boring when no school or trainer IMG was going on. Another thing that disappointed me was that they never would openly share anything about the tuition of the academy, which was around 30000 before the affiliation with FC Barcelona when the tuition shot up. We didn't even get to keep the shirts from the tryouts. The "evaluation" at the end of the tryouts was very general and not helpful at all, as anything the coach said could have been generalized to any player. They didn't even have trainers on the field for a majority of the tryout. Overall, I would not recommend spending the money to send your kid to the Grande Sports Academy. Not worth it.

When I told some soccer friends that my daughter had a game a Pioneer Park in Peoria, they suggested we stop by this nearby store to look for some new cleats. After a bit of research (ie: on their website), I learned that "Soccer Post is the largest retail specialty soccer chain in the United States, and that Soccer Post Arrowhead is a family-owned and operated store for soccer players and enthusiasts of all ages." While unfortunately, we left our visit empty handed due to the cleats my daughter wanted not being in stock in her size, I was pleased with the overall selection, friendly staff, prices, etc... I would definitely return if in the area and in need of soccer stuff!

Park conveniently located on Southern ave a few blocks west of Val Vista. It's above average sized…read morewith a baseball field, volleyball, dog park and ramadas for groups. I was disappointed there are no exercise machines/stations which is common at LA parks. A Ramada reservation glass had an old reservation notice that should have been removed. Another one was broken. While 2 maintenance staff were just standing around chit chatting, I pointed out to one a water fountain was inoperative(important since this is the hottest large metro in US with alot of seniors). The guy acted like I was bothering him and didn't seem to care. The Park is rundown and needs new grass.
