Too expensive for multiple day tournaments. The entry fee is $ 5.00 daily which is excessive in my opinion. The concessions are crazy expensive with outside food or drinks not allowed. The outfield are too short for grown men and there is no between games infield maintenance. The good is that there is ample seating and some shade.

My first time playing at Cactus Yards and I really enjoyed the venue. The fields were in good condition, a clean venue, field maps were clear and helpful, and it was only $5 a day to enter. The batting cages, which we spent a good amount of time at between games, was very inconsistent. Although you do get around 20 pitches per token (way more than the Southern California cages provide), it messes up the practice when balls are delayed in being pitched or they are too low/too high to hit. We were there for a big tournament and the parking situation was really tough. Luckily we could park on the dirt and kinda squeeze in anywhere, but for this large a venue, more parking lot space should be available. Overall a great venue and I hope to play here again.

Cactus Yards is a great tournament facility. My son has played in several baseball tournaments here, and my daughter in softball tournaments here as well. The facility itself is excellent and always very clean. One of the coolest features is that each field is modeled after a different MLB stadium. The sunken-in dugouts are especially fun for the kids and really make them feel like they're playing on a professional field. They have two concession areas called Slider Sports Grill. The pretzels are hands-down the best--soft, warm, and delicious. You can get them with a side of cheese that's almost like a white queso with a little bit of spice, which makes them even better. There is always plenty of parking. There is a fee to enter the park, though players are free. The only downside here is that coaches also have to pay. I understand that some teams bring multiple coaches, but it would be nice if at least the head coach didn't have to pay to get in. Another small frustration is that cleats aren't allowed inside the concession area, where the closest restrooms are located. I understand wanting to keep dirt out, but it can be inconvenient for players. That said, the concession area itself is great, indoors, air-conditioned (a huge plus during the hot months), and surrounded by windows so you can sit inside and still watch the games. The design is really well thought out, and they also sell alcohol, which is a nice option for parents. Cactus Yards is a great sports complex with nice fields, thoughtful design, and the Best pretzels!

This facility needs some TLC and a major air conditioning improvement. They operate off of swamp coolers and it just doesn't cut it for Arizona. I am glad for an indoor soccer option for my kids but having to watch them play in a muggy, dirty (windows need a deep cleaning), limited seating venue is not a highlight of my day.

We had a pretty great experience at Cactus Yards. Such a cool place for kids to play. We loved the restaurants on site and the kids loved all the games inside the restaurant. Overall the food prices were fair (besides the $7 bomb popsicle). I didn't give it 5 stars because the fields were really dusty and needed to be sprayed down between tournament games and the major league outfields scenes are needing a bit of an update/facelift. They are pretty faded. Overall it's a pretty cool place and I hope the city will invest in the upkeep. The stadium seating is great--you don't need your own chairs.

We drove in from El Paso, TX to participate in the USSSA Spring Training III baseball tournament and fell in love with the facilities. Each field is a replica of a MLB Stadium! Our games were played in Yankee & Angel Stadiums and our players loved the "Big League" dugouts and stadium seating feel. While there isn't any dedicated seating along the right and left field sidelines, there is plenty of room to set up chairs and camp-out for the game. The stadium seating between the duggouts provides a great environment for spectators and is covered to provide shade! The indoor concession stand is climate controlled and provides plenty of options for snacks or meals. There is also a bar with a select ranges of alcoholic beverages for patrons to enjoy. My wife stopped by the gift shop and was able to pick up a framed team poster and individual photo of our kiddo that really helped commemorate the event! There was a $5 cover per adult and the only items we were allowed to bring in was water (everything else is available for purchase). We're already looking forward to our next visit!

Really long line.... One person working the register and another cooking/prepping.

Great fields. Horrible management regarding concessions. One person working while there's 8 teams playing baseball. Town of Gilbert is missing out on money and the parents are missing their kids games.

I get you have to make money and I also understand the rules..I did not have the $5 dollars needed to get in the gate. The nazi lady sropped me as everyone was going in and told me $5 dollars. I ased " arent coaches free"? She said absolutely not. I get it doing her job. I said, cant i pay you when my wife gets here? Nope absolutely not. So i just stepped aside, embarrassed as everyone else qent in. As I sat on the curb I thought to myself. I would never run a business like this. Bad reviews and an embarrassed customer who will never bring his vegas team to any cactus yard event. You never know who you are holding up at the line. Hopefully my friends from one of the media compines I know will write a story over the greed that softball/baseball has become in these multupark fields.....How nice your policies are. Over 5 buck????. Stepping over dollars to get to pennies..

Updated a former 5-star review for May 2024…read more I'm still a fan of the Club Prep project. I like its goals and enjoy its affordability. That said, my personal recommendation is that if you happen to end up on one of the volleyball teams coached by the head of the volleyball league (who I won't name here, NOT GENE.), you should run, not walk, to another team. Our experience this past season or two was that he was largely an absentee coach, delegating his Club Prep teams to other parents while he focuses on his club teams. Says playing time is merit-based, but fails to carry out that promise by maintaining loyalty to players he previously knows. The roles and playing time of these players are never questioned or in doubt, regardless of performance. Never considered developing new players into certain roles on the team that would threaten the playing time of some of the long-timers. Most everyone else is shoehorned into the few remaining positions, where playing time becomes very scarce. This is not club level, nor is it high school. There is simply no reason for every player to not get some kind of defined role on the court on game days, including tournament games. This was just our experience. The coach you get can either make or break your experience. It put a very bad taste in our mouths this past season and ruined what was previously a very positive experience in the league.

Our experience with the San Tan Youth Football League leadership left us feeling disheartened, not because of wins or losses, but because of what our kids were exposed to. This is no way a reflection on the Bulldogs! There GMs and coaches have been amazing and supportive. Throughout the season and past years we've played, there were multiple instances of inconsistent officiating and decisions that appeared to favor certain teams. In a league meant for young athletes, this sends the wrong message. These kids train hard, show up with heart, and deserve a level playing field where effort and sportsmanship matter more than favoritism. Parents invest a great deal of time, money, and trust into these programs. We expect transparency, accountability, and fair treatment for all teams. When that trust is broken, it takes away from what youth sports should represent--growth, confidence, and learning valuable life lessons. I truly hope the league leadership reflects on these concerns and makes changes to ensure a FAIR, respectful, and positive experience for every player and family moving forward. I hope they hold the refs accountable for their actions and stand behind the children.

STYFL MISSION STATEMENT AND PHILOSOPHY IS JUST A FACADE!!!…read more On December 13, 2025, during the Bulldogs vs. Blue Devils game, I witnessed firsthand how poorly this league is officiated. The referees did not allow the kids to play a fair game- instead, it felt like they were playing against the refs themselves. The league owner has shown time and again that he doesn't care about which team plays the best; he only cares about who has the deepest pockets. My family member has been part of this league for over four years, and issues with biased officiating have been consistent. Now that he is in D5, it's even more obvious that the adult referees favor certain teams. When concerns are brought to the owner, nothing is corrected. These are kids who have practiced and competed all year, working hard to reach the championship. To have their dream taken away by unfair officiating is unacceptable. If you're looking for a fair league where your child can truly excel, look elsewhere. If you're comfortable with favoritism, unfair play, and watching kids lose faith in fairness, then this is the league for you. This review is directed at the SanTan Youth Football League itself and not at the individual clubs, organizations, or coaches of the specific teams.

Title: Disappointing Experience - Lack of Fair Play and Communication…read more We signed our son up for GYFL 10U flag football expecting a positive, developmental experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't what we experienced. The first practice, the coach didn't show up. The second practice was largely spent lecturing 10-year-olds for about 45 minutes instead of running drills or helping them develop skills. During games, my son sat the entire first half both games and only got about two plays in the second half. At this level, we expected more consistent participation and opportunities for all players. When I tried to address this, the conversation was difficult and didn't lead to any resolution. The coach maintained that playing time was being handled evenly, which did not match what we observed. Additionally, my son was singled out during practice for wearing specific college team hat that the coach didn't like. He stated he couldn't ever remember his name and therefore would refer to him by a derogatory reference to that team. That felt unnecessary and could have been handled more appropriately. I also reached out to the league hoping for some follow-up or clarification, but the concern didn't seem to go anywhere. Youth sports should be about development, inclusion, and building confidence. We were hoping for a more positive and structured experience. I'd encourage GYFL to place more emphasis on coaching oversight, communication with parents, and ensuring all kids are given fair opportunities to participate.

We got the director involved and he pretty much said tough luck the girls can't play boys in the same group and if you have a problem you need to forfeit the game and find a different league to play on. We tried to find a comprise but he did not want to entertain any ideas. The director was absolutely worthless. The director said they could all play with 2 different footballs and took off the field because he was coaching another game. The boys tried there best but due to the size difference of the 10U girls and our 8U boys, the girls were aggressive and encouraged by their coach and parents, to physically hurt our kids. Finally, we got kicked out of the game because the older girls kept physically hurting one of the fast players on our team which then caused his tooth to bleed and become loose. Again, encouraged by the coach, parents and refs. These refs only flagged our kids not the other team. (Cardinals). Warning to others who are thinking of joining this league. Spend your money somewhere else, if you have a issue the director is going till you to leave because he already got your money in his pocket. See the following picture of director guy and size difference between the girls and boys. This league is disgusting and I would strongly advise you not to give your money to this league. I will be expecting a phone call from someone other than your worthless director!

Our experience with the organizers and refs have almost always been great, and the few exceptions were understandable and/or dealt with. The coaches are all volunteer parents - so you get out of it what you put into it. If you don't like how the team is run, you should volunteer and try a season yourself... you just might love it! If your coach is not playing every kid pretty close to equally, let them know, and let the league office know. If they don't set this expectation on day one, ask! You should be able to switch teams. Coaches in this league who don't spread it around need to hear it from parents and/or get the boot. If you think that your kid is the next LeBron or Barry Sanders, go put them in a hyper-competitive league and see how they do. As a coach, I know that the parents have entrusted me with their kids to give them a chance to play and have fun. If I win every game but only played 5 kids, I failed. If I lose every game, but every kid had fun AND still wants to play again, then I succeeded. Any coach who can't say the same needs to go manage a fantasy football team or something and leave the coaching to those of us who will do the job correctly. Sadly, we are aging out this year so we won't get to keep playing after this season.
