    Orkin

    Orkin

This is an email I sent to David Murphy, Operations Manager, about why I gave Orkin a "would not…read morerecommend' review....... I initially setup both my termite and pest control service with Orkin in Mar/Apr 2017. Initially, communication/feedback/responses were both effectively and efficiently communicated between your staff and either my wife or myself. However, ever since our initial treatment for termites and pest control, I have been continuously dissatisfied with the services received both administratively and on-site. For example, when I called to schedule my annual termite inspection, I spoke with an employee at your agency; however, they could not schedule my appointment at that time and indicated someone would call me back later that afternoon or the next day. At no point did anyone call me back to schedule my appointment. As a result, I called the office again to schedule the appointment. I elucidated to the customer service representative that I spoke with someone previously and no one called me back. Instead of handling the problem at that point, the associate wanted to have someone call me back again (implausible!). Due to previous experiences, I indicated that I wanted to schedule the appointment now and did not want to receive a call at a later time. Instead of handling the scheduling of the appointment, she simply transferred me to a manager who had no idea why I was calling. I was able to schedule the appointment at that time, but I feel a customer should be able to schedule an appointment when they call the agency instead of always receiving a return phone call. Moreover, this morning I received a phone call from Lenny who indicated he wanted to schedule my annual termite inspection. I had my renewal on 10-Mar-2018, which is 11 days ago, and I am now receiving a phone call about making an appointment. Apparently there is some disconnect between your office and employees in the field. How does your office not know that my renewal was already completed (incompetent!)? Another thing that is staggering about Orkin is how your on-site staff members go about scheduling an appointment. To clarify, instead of calling your customers a day or two ahead of time to make an appointment, your employees are notorious for calling the day off to say "you are due for a service, I'm in the area and want to come today". In fact, this happened again today when Lenny called me for my termite inspection. He explained that he wanted to come out today even though he knew I was probably at work. Again, this is extremely unprofessional and I find it intrusive to one's schedule. I am a flexible person and can work with any organization to schedule an appointment; however, I expect at least a 24-hour notice before someone wants to come to my residence. These are just a few examples of my dissatisfaction with your agency. I have had no-shows by your employees who scheduled times for servicing and have be given a handful of excuses about why things haven't been conducted in a professional manager (i.e., saying the reason for a no-show was due to an employee having knee surgery). It seems like your agency is failing to follow your company's philosophy of "remaining committed to providing our customers with the most extraordinary pest and termite control service available today". I have voiced my issues/complaints with your organization over 6 months ago when I called due to scheduling problems and it seems like things haven't change since then. In my opinion, the processes you have in place to ensure you are offering superior (far-fetched at best) customer service are both ineffective and inefficient and should seriously be reviewed prior to taking on any additional customers. Unfortunately, I am locked into my termite contract for a few more years, but effective immediately, I am planning to utilize another organization for my pest services. I should have done my research on the front end and utilized another company thus allowing me to eliminate all the legwork I have had to do to get service (which sounds absurd! A customer having to work to get a company's business. I'm thinking it supposed to be the opposite way). Thanks for taking the time to listen to my frustration with your organization. I'm sure this will change nothing, but figured I would give it a whirl. To date, I have not received any communication back from this manager after my email and I would not recommend this company for termite/pest control. Additionally, when I did my research and found another pest control. I discovered they have a better price point. Orkin is $113 per service, but I'm switching to James Pest Control, which is $85 per service (which saves me $112 per year and a headache when dealing with Orkin). I used James before I moved to Nashville area and always had great customer service.

When the guy arrived he informed me that wasn't how it works and was very pushy about trying to get me to sign a contract. Then they are suppose to call ahead and make sure you'll be there to let them in. That never happened and he would show up and spray the outside and charge me fir spraying the inside as well. I called Irkin and they sent him back out to give me a free treatment inside and he ended up doing a full treatment and charging me for it. On top of that they never got rid of any bugs. When I called the office and cancelled I left a message on the managers voicemail and he never returned my call. That was the second tome he ignored my voicemail. Obviously they don't care about their business.

I called 3 times to talk to them about an ongoing issue and each time they were going to have a manager call me back. They never returned my calls. Each call I asked to just cancel my service but they assured me a manager would be calling. No one ever called. But I was finally told I could send an email to cancel my service. I have requested a refund for any unused quarterly services I have left. After using them at my current address for 12 years I will be going elsewhere. Terrible customer service.

The company was given as a recommendation from my HVAC company. Earlier in the 2021, during my annual termite inspection with my pest control service, there was standing water, one dead snake, one small live snake and other debris found in my crawlspace. I contacted 3 different companies for estimates and recommendations to address the concern. Here is the BLUF---Encapsulation is not always the answer and doesn't have to be your only choice!! I learned that from Ameri Care. They were the only company that immediately recognized other water intrusion concerns from the exterior of the home and provided options to address the issues. The estimates I received from the 3 companies ranged from $3500-$12K. Only one company, I believe was the one who gave me honest recommendations--Ameri Care Services. My inspector was Darren Kidd and he was professional from the time he arrived until I made my decision. The day the work was completed the crew worked 100% until it was complete and then made sure that i saw the work before they left. There was no pressure to "get this special deal" or "fully encapsulate" to "fix all my problems". Very satisfied with the work, the communication, and the process.
