Awsum Salon is being sabotaged. Dana has done my hair for 20 years and she is amazing! I have waist-length, ridiculously thick locks and she cuts and colors them to perfection. Whenever I am complimented on my hair, I give Dana all the credit. She's truly a miracle worker. If I were reviewing Dana, I would give 5 stars. When her salon opened, it was a vibrant, positive, sparkling place. Customers were naturally drawn there by her skills and the positive atmosphere. It didn't take long for all of the chairs to be filled every time I was in on a Saturday. Unfortunately, her business partner, Chris, is a petty, vindictive, jealous man. When I went for my appointment this past Saturday morning he had changed the locks, leaving Dana and me - a paying customer - literally standing outside in the cold. Even though the sign on the front window clearly says they open at 8:00 on Saturday. Even though I have seen him in there before 8:00 for every Saturday appointment I've had since they opened the salon. Even though my appointment had been in the books since November. Even with all of this and knowing that he had changed the locks the night before, he didn't show up until almost 9:00. Dana handled it as professionally as possible, especially since this was clearly designed to embarrass her. She called him twice to come and let us into the salon. He hung up on her twice. When Chris finally showed up, he unlocked the door and turned and walked away. He didn't apologize to me (or to Dana) in fact, he didn't say a single word to either of us. His childish behavior is completely unprofessional. And frankly, it's taking a toll on the business. For the first time since it was a brand new salon, I looked around midday on Saturday and saw more empty chairs than full. His unprofessionalism will kill Awsum Salon. I can't recommend Dana highly enough. At the same time, I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone else at the salon, as long as Chris is having his temper tantrum. If I were rating the salon only, I would give one star. read more

Not So AWSUM Salon! The sign on the window says they open at 8am. I saw the new salon yesterday and since we are new to the area I decided to try them out. I made an 8:15am appointment for today. I pull up at 8:10 and the salon is dark and the front door is locked. So I wait till about 8:16, a guy shows up and starts to unlock the door. I get out of the car and say, "Is the salon open today (kidding)". The guys says, "I am opening it now" and gives me a look. I then ask, "Is your name Chris" (because that's the person who was supposed to cut my hair). He says, "Yes". So I get back in my car and leave. It's obvious he's started off to a bad day. I get a voicemail about 8:20 and it's Chris who proceeds to tell me he was at the salon at 8:15, he thinks he just met me and I pulled away. That's exactly what happened. He then gives me an excuse about a toilet situation. No apology for the Salon not being open at 8am or acknowledgment he was late. His temperament on the phone is an attempting to make me feel like he was there and I am missing the appointment. Whatever!! Sorry I missed the appointment and you had toilet problems Chris! Here's the point, these places try to be all high tech/automated with text messages, emails and voicemails telling you have an appointment. Which means they have your contact information (which is how Chris was able to leave me a message). However, they can not call you or send you a message if they are going to be late for an appointment. I get it, things happen but being one sided doesn't cut it. Let's be honest, prompt, courteous, kind and stop with the excuses. It's easy to send a text, call or email when you have somebody's info. I will give them one more chance because they are close to my house, let's hope I have a different experience. I hope Dana is better. I'll let you know. read more

Been looking for years for a place I could/would stay with. This is it! First they corrected a terribly botched cut on myself, as a walk in no less. Second, brought my daughter of 7 in...in few words, she has autism and is difficult with hair cuts...they were so great with her, they've undone all the anxiety she's built up and she'll be happy to return anytime. Third, my daughter of 21 wanted a very specific haircut and they took the time to discuss her wants and choose the best person to execute her cut. Turned out perfect. And forth....took my daughter again for color. Going from a brunette to an ash grey. I watched as she had not only the experience of her stylist, who was great, but the combined experience of every stylist in the salon as they all checked in, and discussed the plan and progress. The owners (husband and wife team) truly work to mentor each of their stylists for what ended up a beautiful finish and great experience overall. The finishing touch was watching as they all took pride and lots of pics of their finished result...you can now view it on theirs social media page. What an investment in their employees and clients! Check it out, my hair was fried, roots grown out, and I was positive I would of had to chop it all off (Britney Spears Style). I came across Awsum Salon and booked an appointment with Kelly. After going over the details with her and filling her in on my dream of having beautiful blonde hair, she was enthusiastic and confident that she could deliver. A couple hours later, my hair felt renewed and I felt like a whole new person. Kelly is seriously the best! I have been a client of Dana for 18 years. I have always been unbelievably happy with my hair. I had extensions to grow my hair out at one time and have had long beautiful hair. Dana and Chris both are so talented when it comes to color , cut and style that I am willing to drive for 4 hours to get my hair done. I can always count on Dana and Chris for the most updated and stylish hair because they follow the trends and are often followed because they set the trend. I have recommended many of my friends and family and all have been happy. You need to call early and schedule appts in advance as they book up early. Highly recommend this salon. Dana really listened to me and is absolutely fabulous at Blonde hair. So hard to find a stylist that gets it right. She is the best I have found in many years. She fixed the messy brassy color that I had. She's a true perfectionist! Her husband Chris is also wonderful. Very nice friendly family atmosphere. Definitely will recommend and am very happy with my experience! Update- I've been seeing Dana and she always delivers. Gave her a picture and did exactly what I asked for to a tee. I was in need of a hair cut and drove by Awsum salon coming home from work. I don't normal go to salons and most of the time end up cutting my own hair because I can't find somebody that will cut it right. That all changed walking in their doors. I was greeted by Kelly who was very nice and knowledgeable! (I didn't give her much to work with on style). This was hands down the best haircut I have ever had. Sarah is an amazing stylist! I came here to do something different with my hair. I have never been brave enough to get it colored but decided to try something new with a balayage. Sarah set me at ease by explaining exactly what she would be doing and I had complete confidence in her that she would make my hair look amazing. She did! Savana is the BEST person I know for blondes. She is always honest, won't kill your hair, and makes it look GOOD. I have been to a LOT of places and people for my hair since I was 14 but she is by far the best and I will always recommend her! I ALWAYS leave loving my hair because of her!
