Today, while enjoying a casual family round of golf, another golfer claimed they had called the owner because we were supposedly holding up their "big money game." Instead of promoting patience and good sportsmanship, we were essentially told to move aside and go play somewhere else. If a golf course values gamblers and fast play over families simply trying to enjoy the game, that's a disappointing business model. Golf should be welcoming to everyone, not just the loudest people on the course. To top it off, don't plan on stopping at Three B for a bite if you're playing there. Apparently, taking a break means the course doesn't want you keeping your place. Customer service and family-friendly values clearly weren't on display today. We'll be spending our time and money at a course that actually appreciates all of its customers.

Oakhurst golf club and river plantation is owned by the same people and both courses are 0/10 unplayable, rude staff, sand all over greens, tee box's are mud pits, sand traps hard as concrete. We played 9 holes at oak hurst and it start poring rain so we go to get a rain check and the 2 ladies at the front are straight up rude about it and say NO. There is no lighting when on my groups phone we all got lighting alerts. Clearly the guy that owns these 2 courses is just taking the money to himself and not putting a dollar back into either course. The staff is so rude it's unbelievable. This course and river plantation both need to be shut down. PLEASE NO ONE WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. Lost me as a customer to both courses. There is nothing good about any of these courses.

Unfortunately, after this experience, we can confidently say that WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING or RECOMMENDING ANYMORE. Pricing Discrepancies: We were excited to splurge on a round of golf, but the high prices felt utterly unjustified after the customer service and lack of care we received. We typically enjoy driving the 45 minutes from Houston where we live near Memorial Park Golf Course to indulge in a premium experience out towards Conroe. Inadequate Communication: Upon arrival, we discovered that we were not informed about the cart path restrictions until AFTER we paid...which significantly impacted our enjoyment of the course. It's frustrating to pay a premium only to face such inconveniences without prior notice. Customer Service Catastrophe: Our experience took a further nosedive when, just three holes into our round, a sudden downpour forced us to return to the pro shop for a rain check. We were met with rude and snarky remarks from the staff, which was unacceptable. Both employees made it clear that I had to "eat the cost" of a $40 rider fee, despite the fact that we were not informed about this beforehand. Their dismissive attitude made it clear that customer satisfaction was the last thing on their minds. To add insult to injury, we received only a HALF-DAY RAIN CHECK, despite not having completed even half a round. In an era when customer service is paramount, it's hard to understand why a course would treat its patrons this way, especially when there are so many better options available. Our experience at Highland Pines was disheartening. With poor customer service and unclear policies, we can't justify returning, especially when there are countless other courses that value their customers and offer a better overall experience. Save your time and money--there are far better choices out there.

That being said, the value cannot be matched - even from most municipal courses. A round plus cart is only going to cost you around $30 and that price is even lower on the week days and in the afternoon. One of the other pluses is that you will have no problem booking a tee time basically whenever you desire. Typically, there are only a handful of golfers at the course even on a Saturday. The negatives are that this is a very no frills golf course. Many times there are large patches of dirt in the fairways and when you do find grass - it is essentially of the quality you would find in your back yard. The greens are particularly slow. I'm not sure what type of grass they use, but it might just be the same used in the fairway cut shorter - very strange. I know that they have been restricted on the amount of water they used due to the drought conditions. That could be a contributing factor. Even with these negatives, I do like coming out here regularly. I can afford to play this course frequently and you will rarely have a group behind you "breathing down your neck" because the tee times are so close together.

I took a visiting friend of mine to play 18 at the Cypress golf course this past weekend on 4/11/26…read moreand I was not impressed at all with the price and the condition the greens were in. It was our first time there, too. We are pretty avid golfers. Check in process: didn't take too long. Older gentleman at the counter was nice. I was not aware that the clubhouse was under construction so there was a lot of construction going on with noise and mud all over. Pretty annoyed already as a start. There's no mention of this on their website either. Driving range: it's about a 4-5 min drive by golf cart from the "temporary" clubhouse. Once arrived, you have to head over to a self dispensing ball machine to collect your balls. This was not very clear or given to us as instructions at check in so we wasted about 10 mins trying to find out where to get balls from. Hitting from mats since it had rained the past few days. Mats were decent. There's a couple of distance markers out there as well. The course: we played Cypresswood course which was the lower priced one at $72 per person. The course design itself is elegant and isolated away from homes which is a nice touch. However, those greens were absolute horrific. For the price I paid, those greens should be nicely kept up with. There's no reason why they should have patches, dry spots, and grainy grass in them. This is very upsetting as it makes the game of golf certainly more challenging but doesn't make for a fun experience. This course definitely needs more maintenance if I'm going to be paying over $70 to play 18 holes here. About 3-4 holes out of 18 were in great condition, other ones were terrible. We never saw the cart girl. There are no restroom stalls in the course or even porta potty's, you have to go back to the clubhouse to use restroom which is a pain in the arse. The pace of the game was also very slow and ended up pairing with a twosome behind us. It took well over 5 hours to play 18 holes. Ridiculous. I think this course has a lot of upside potential. I don't think I'll be returning until the new clubhouse and construction is done which they claim should end towards end of summer this year. The layout of the course was nice and very scenic but greens were awful.

They have a temporary building for the pro shop and food. They do have some clothing for sale and the usual items (balls, etc) Unfortunately the women's restroom could use a bit of a clean but it was better than the portapottys available on the course. When we checked in we weren't given any info about how the construction influenced the course and were late to our tee time (apparently we were starting in hole 10 instead of 1) Driving range: The driving range is a bit far from the only playable course . The course next to the range is closed for construction. They do have an automatic ball dispensing machine which was neat The driving range itself was quite rough. The area you sand within was sandy and full of divots making practice a challenge. Course: The course itself was quite beautiful. There were a lot of trees and it's refreshing to play without being surrounded by homes. I also appreciated that at a lot of the holes there were ice cold towels ! Unfortunately the serenity of the golf course was frequently cut by construction noise Overall a fine course and I imagine it'll be amazing once all the work is done. I don't think I'll be back before that though
