I purchased two pairs of shoes on October 28, 2017. One of the pair of shoes started having problems with the heel and breaking off more severely. The heel started chipping away as seen in the photo. The shoes cost $425. I contacted the owner they asked me to send the shoes to them at my cost (which he did not reimburse me for) through the mail which I did. He then sent me a text through Instagram where we were communicating telling me it was "user error" according to the "shoe repair shop" he sent them to. In other words he blamed me for how I'm walking in the shoes. The pictures below are before and after I sent them back to the store owner who told me it could not be fixed. I have never had a problem with shoes two weeks after I have worn them with the heel starts breaking off. The owner would not work with me telling me the sale is final. I challenged the charge on my credit card twice to which he declined to even work with me on reducing the cost of the shoe since I will have to pay for the repair. I have also submitted a report to the Better Business Bureau. I have never been treated like this by any store owner over a pair of faulty clothing or shoes. I would never go back to the store again I find the owner to be unfriendly and uncooperative. I am left with a pair shoes that I cannot wear because the heels will only get worse. read more

I never heard of this store but came here due to high yelp reviews. Never heard of any of the brands but they all looked like high quality Italian shoes. Gorgeous shoes - I have been a regular shopper here for some time but have recently decided to break up with Avitto. Or have an impulsive one-day patch-up only if I happen to walk by and see Mr Avitto in the shop because he is a great guy! The two ladies who now work here are rude and snobbish, and I say this after three unpleasant episodes in succession (two skinny girls, not the slightly chubby girl who alternates between Ottiva and Avitto and is a sweetheart!). If you can deal with the attitude, head right in, the shoes are beautiful. On my last visit, one of them got super defensive because I tried on a pair of boots and said it wasn't what I was looking for. She picked up the boots in a fury and stormed off, refusing to offer any further try-ons. read more

If you believe in serendipity, I'd say the shop means the same to me. It is THE BEST. the first day in NYC, the zipper of my boots broke, so I went to look for a pair of new shoes. When I entered the shop, I knew I found the right place. Yes, I have to admit the prices are not very cheap, but everything is original Italian hand-made with the best material, and only one pair for each size! Comparing to the other so-called famous brands, what convinced me to purchase is not only the authentic, simple, quality of the shoes, but also Mr. Avitto's professional, dedicative attitude towards all his shoes and the store. Even though my debit card had some problem when I was purchasing, and I ended up to be the first customer who used Chase transfer to pay, Mr. Avitto was very kind and patient. Nestled, in my opinion, the best area in NYC to shop, you find this deep, hallowed shop that is walls deep stacked with something for everyone. As soon as you go inside, you are greeted by a warm employee and then Eli. Eli is the proprietor. Eli has a very calm and cool way about suggesting styles for you - brief verbal consultation to get a feel for what you are looking for. Eli showed me 3 different choices and I made a selection. The shoes I chose are absolutely fashion forward and crafted for a king himself. The prices are extremely reasonable ($150 and up ) considering the better crafted the shoe, the longer you will have it to wear. A well crafted Italian made shoe can last past 5 years. No brainer ! Went here a month ago w some friends, and walked out w 2 BEAUTIFUL pairs of shoes (blue suede loafers that are a dream to wear; and grey suede pumps that are stunning and comfortable). We had been browsing and on our way out casually asked the salesperson where he was from, because his accent sounded familiar. It was a totally innocent friendly question. This place was awesome. I was walking around SoHo looking for some cute italian shoes. I stopped by at Vitto and I automatically fell in love with these shoes in the window. I went in and asked for my size. They salesman went to get it and the owner started making other recommendations for me. The amazing thing is that he knew my style right on! He was like..oh, you would love these..and I did! I didn't have to say anything and he kept pulling these super cute shoes left and right. Beware - their shoes don't come in half sizes. So, the owner also looks into my best interest and tells me not to get shoes if the leather is pressing the tip of my toes. So, he tells me to go for the bigger size, but it's a bit big, so he offers to put some padding in. Since it will take time, he offers to ship the shoes! Great service, great selection. Since I live in SF, he said to email and request pictures of the upcoming season's styles. So, the shoes I bought are comfy, great and stylish! Forget the standard shoes that sell at the department stores. Vitto is the place to go to be different and chic. Oh and they have this very cute kitty that chills in the store. read more

Just discovered this store. I've looked at a lot of places for a tall, flat black boot (Saks, Zappos (Frye, Camper), other boutiques). In general, I found that boots reasonably priced (under $350) were bulky or too casual, ones that were sleek and fitted priced ~$600+. At Avitto, I found a gorgeous tall (mid-knee) boot. Very fitted, which is harder to find for skinny legs. Warm, furry lining and super comfortable, perfect for NYC! Looks great with my skinny jeans and dresses. And it was on sale for under $300. Great price for high-end quality. I tried on 4 boots, liked them all and had hard time deciding but love the ones I walked out with. Guy who works there designs the shoes and has them made in Italy. It's a family business... They also only make a few boots in each size, so there aren't a million pairs out there. When I need another boot, I am coming back here! read more

I bought a beautiful pair of boots from Avitto a year ago. Recently the zipper broke and I took them to my local shoe repair store where I live in LA. He said he had to replace the whole zipper. I didn't really care so long as it worked. When I traveled back to NY the zipper broke again. I thought, perfect, I can take the shoes back to Avitto where I originally bought them and have them fix the broken zipper properly. I took them to Avitto and explained what happened. Everyone was very nice. I left the shoes there for repair. Then, I got a call two days later saying that their repair people won't touch my shoes because 'someone else' had already tried to fix them. They were referring to my guy in LA. I reminded them that the first repair only happened because the original zipper on the boot broke, hinting that it was a faulty zipper. They didn't buy into that argument. After further pleading with them to help me fix my boots, they said the best they could do would be to give them back to me to take to a shoe repair place. I asked, why would I take my boots to a shoe repair place when they are already AT the shoe repair place of the manufacturer or the boots?! They wouldn't budge. So I picked up my boots, two wasted days after having dropped them off, and took them to another place around the corner from Avitto where the guy fixed the zipper brilliantly for about $10 bucks in a few hours. Now, they've lost a customer. Over $10. Avitto has great shoes, but they need to learn a thing or two about customer service. Shop there at your own risk. read more

I normally don't write much reviews but OMG! I can't believe the snobby customer service at this store. I just went there yesterday 6/4/12 at around 6:30 and the two sales girl there were among the rudest I have ever seen in NY. I have a friend from LA that stumbled upon this store 2 years ago and loved their shoes and the sales lady at the time was super sweet and friendly. She bought 2 pairs at the time. This time she was visiting NY again and we was determined to find that cute little shoe shop with the great shoes. We finally find it and I go inside with her. She finds a pair of platform sandals that she likes and as she's perusing I look around as well. First off, she decides to try on the platform sandals on the shelf as they happened to be her size and the sales girl says "is that your size? Are you sure it's not too small for you?" WTF, that was kinda rude to begin with, is she saying my friend has big feet? Jeez she can read the size on the shoe! Fine fine so we continue looking around and I took one shoe to try out from the shelf and she even ask if it was my size, who tries on shoes that are not their size, I don't think she would dare to ask me if that shoe was too small because my feet are too small to begin with. So then as my friend is contemplating which shoe she should get and trying on another, I try on another pair off the shelf. The b*&@# sales girl had the nerve to say "do you know what you are looking for? you can't just try on all the shoes on the shelf?" WTF! Ooh that pissed us off, I mean we are in a freaking shoe store and if you are selling your shoes for over $250 then I think I would try it out before deciding. How can they expect someone to decide if they like a shoe or not if they don't try it on? Would it have been better if we just told them to get our size in a bunch of shoes and try it out that way? We literally tried on like 2 shoes each from the shelf. My friend was actually going to buy the $250 platform sandals from them until the sales girl was so rude. Then as we were leaving the store in disgust the other sales girl said to the other, "what do they think this is? Steve Madden?" WTF WTF, how can these girls in sales if they have such poor customer service. I mean if you are selling shoes for $250 I would expect you to have better service. Maybe it's because we look young or maybe we weren't flashing designers from head to toe but didn't mean we couldn't afford it, one of our salaries alone is most likely more than the 2 sales girls salaries alone. I'm still contemplating calling the store to complain as I know when I called that night to as for store hours a man pick up but I only saw two sales girl there. I hope their boss knows what horrible service and snobby attitude these girls have towards their customers. So I warn everyone unless you want to be treated like crap then don't shop here or if you do make sure u flaunt that you have money so they aren't snobby to you. read more

WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. The owner is a LIAR. I bought a pair of boots from them in April. The zipper was broken, so I sent them back with my information for a refund. They sent "another" pair with the same broken zipper. Both times I did not receive a refund for the shipping, when they said they would. Also, for the second pair of boots they told me they would refund the full price. I shipped them back, they claimed not to receive them. I called them multiple times, and each time I was told a different story, ending in the fact that they do not do refunds. I am still waiting for a refund, as well as a reply from them saying they received my boots. DO NOT SHOP AT AVITTO, TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. read more

This shopping experience was horrible also ridiculous. I am that kind of girl who is always shy and quiet, so normally I wouldn't leave a review. BUT this time, I feel I have to, just to reveal the truth. Because this experience is unbearable. I shopped to this shoe store with my girl-friend to buy her a pair of boot. The price ranges from $200-$450, which is typical in SOHO area. We tried two pair of shoes, spent around 15 minutes in store. We decided not to buy it because we were still hesitating. We wanted to see more shoes before we make up our decisions. Honesty, I think $425 is not a cheap price for shoes. It is quite normally for people to look around more before they spend the money. So we walked out of the store. Meanwhile, we heard the words from this rude guy. He said;" you guys wasted my time, don't ever come back to my store.' At the moment when we heard his words, we were speechless and shocked. Then both of us were like, WTF!!!! I wonder if I heard him correctly because this was totally out of our expectations. I asked him to say it again, and he gave me an ugly face and yelled " Don't ever come to this store!' My friend was so pissed of . And we were thinking to call police, because this was so offensive. This guy was absolutely rude and ridiculous, he believes that you have to buy his shoes if you ever tried it. I have shopped to all kinds of shoe stores, included some high end brands. And I have never met this kind of sales service. If you are confident about your products, why are you afraid of people trying??? Mr Avitto, what are you afraid of?
