In spite of this, I decided to try it out anyway and rent a car from them for a 4-day family road trip, thinking "how bad can it really be?". Well, wanting to be as fair a customer as possible, I'm happy to report my experience with them was excellent. The staff there was attentive, efficient and extremely courteous. The process was fast, the price extremely competitive, and all went without any issue. I really cannot fault them for anything, except maybe that the car they lent me could have been a bit cleaner inside and out (but I'm a clean freak, so that's on me - no one else in my party complained about it). On the plus side, the tank was full from the get-go. Nice. Regarding the car itself, it was great: I was given the choice between several full-size SUV's, and I ended up picking a 2020 Infiniti QX60 for the road trip. What a great ride!

Unfortunately I picked it up for usage just before the office closed for the day and so my only option for help was the 24 hour roadside assistance, however it took over 2 hours for an answer to my phone calls. They provided a tow that also took hours to arrive. It was 3:36am to be precise. I called to ask for a refund of my rental as I was unable to utilize it in which I was notified that the vehicle was missing and never arrived to tow location and that I was being charged until it was found. For days I have been trying to track down vehicle. I found it had been placed in storage as the tow was given wrong address for drop off. I did not give the wrong address, Hertz 24 hour roadside assistance did. Something this location could have found out. Instead they lied and said they had no notification of tow in first place. They refused to take information as to where vehicle was located and said they would not close my rental out until it was returned to location. I again tried to tell them where the vehicle was. They said it was above their pay grade to contact tow company (their tow company!) In the course of the day I was hung up on 4 times by this thousand oaks location, including when I asked to speak to their supervisor. They then would answer and hang up immediately when seeing my phone number. To deny helping customer resolve issue with something I had no control of is ridiculous. Billing and customer service both referred me back to the location to resolve yet the location continued to refuse to speak to me in regards and hung up on me. I was not rude, yet was treated extremely poorly. This is a money grab. Charging customers for additional days when they know where the vehicle is and how to get it but refusing and reporting no knowledge. Hanging up on customer is not no knowledge, it is refusal and corruption. I also had purchased the "insurance" yet had zero help in closing out something I had nothing to do with. The only way I knew the vehicle did not arrive at hertz facility from tow was because I saw over $400 additional in charges to my credit card along with the deposit that was never returned. Nobody from TO location bothered to contact me, just kept charging my card. MONEY GRAB. Shame on them and rude employees that need fired. Please corporate listen to the recorded phone calls and hear how unprofessional and rude your employees are at the thousand oaks location. Customers take business elsewhere or be ripped off.

There were 7 of us waiting on car reservations for pickup that were all within that time frame, some there even before me. Went inside, was told they didn't have a car for me and that I shouldn't have came. When I brought up getting my money back he made a phone call to someone and suddenly I could have a car in the parking lot. No walk around precheck, just handed me the keys at the desk. Car wasn't cleaned from the last user. 3 days later I returned it at my scheduled time, same employee. No walk around recheck, he just asked if I filled the tank and I said yes I did, and he said I was good to go. Hours later I got an email that I'm being charged $90 for a tank of gas?? Don't waste your time with this place.

    Confirmed by phone the shop closed at 1:00 pm. Arrived 20 minutes later and it was already closed…read more-- no drop box. Customer service charged me extra and told me to return the car 10 miles away, which isn't realistic when you're out of town. Had to repeat the same story to multiple agents. Not helpful at all. It took over 2 weeks to resolved and had to call Avis customer service 5 separate occasions to discuss my overcharge. I received 6 different invoices one day with various amounts for the same two day rental. Extremely confusing and not helpful.

Costco/Budget had lowest rates and was a drop-off at other location. 2. Got the vehicle I requested. 3. The vehicle was problem-free! 4. Jose at Budget was polite, easy to work with. I highly recommend Budget, this location and Jose. I would expect same if I were to work with other reps at this location. Is be pleased to rent for this location in the future. Then they said it would be a Kia compact. Then finally a Hyundai Sonata -- which, by the way, is a midsize car by every manufacturer definition. Yet they insisted, smugly and incorrectly, that it was a full-size vehicle. To make matters worse, they marked the car as picked up before I signed anything or received any keys. I told them I didn't want the car, and they couldn't figure out how to undo their mistake. I spent over 30 minutes on the phone with Budget's customer service -- standing there in front of them -- having to play middleman between corporate and the utterly clueless staff at the desk. No one knew how to issue a refund. No one took responsibility. The whole experience was chaotic, dishonest, and a complete waste of time. Avoid this location at all costs. If you value your sanity, do not book with Budget in Santa Clarita.
