Locked but open with a number to call/text that doesn't answer.

Horrible place. I reserved and paid for a full-size sedan for a week, but they only gave me a compact car. No apologies, no price adjustment. The tank was 6/8 but the contract said full. They corrected the fuel level by hand when I showed a picture but it was not updated in the system. Upon return at 11:45 am on a weekday, the office was locked but with an open sign with a number to call or text. They ignored my texts and calls and they didn't show up for 25 minutes. They didn't even offer an apology for keeping me and another customer waiting. Then they try to make me pay for gas (returned with 7/8) and for an extra hour. Avoid. They are dishonest, scammy and with zero customer service skills. Avis needs to fire those hardly working there.

It's horrible. The owner is so rude. We decided not to rent a car at this place and never come back even it's so close to my house.

At the counter they told us we are charged $350 if you take the car beyond "Southern California". No cancellation refund. We paid for our full 4-day trip, and didn't even end up renting the car. This was a bad experience, saved only by Budget Rental in Poway…read more I tried booking a car through AARP. after filling out all the details three times the Budget website would not work with theAARP site. I eventually booked using the Budget number which transfered me to the Caribbean call center, which went well. On the day I went to collect the car at mid day, the office was closed. A note in the window said to call or text. I did and the person said she was out doing stuff and would be back. Fifteen minutes later I called again to politely enquire when she would back, thinking that if she was going be a while I would get lunch. She curtly told she was already there. Her manner throughout the transaction was humorless and unfriendly, despite my attempts to make light conversation. She then gave me a Nissan Altima, instead of the Toyota Corolla I had reserved. I queried this and was told nothing else was available. However, there were several Toyotas on the lot. Upon driving the Altima home, the left side suspension made a knocking sound, felt worn and I felt uncomfortable driving it on the freeway to San Francisco. I returned to the office but once again, it was closed, despite me leaving a message saying that I was returning. I called the number several times, no answer. I left several messages, no call back. I sent several texts, no response. Eventually, I called the main office, explained my dilemma and was advised to change the car at next nearest Budget center. Tony at Budget in Poway was extremely helpful, friendly and had me another vehicle in no time. I highly recommend using this office in Poway. A good experience. Tony said I could return the car to the RB Budget office, but I declined, as I didn't want anything to do with someone so unprofessional and devoid of customer skills. I will probably, not use Budget again, as RB is close to me and there is an alternative.
