I have used the Escondido Greenleaf Rena A Car two times recently. Both times the cars needed extra cleaning. I just cleaned the inner windshield and wiped everything down myself. The cars are base models without any bells and whistles, but they get the job done. I have not had any issues with the maintenance of the vehicles and the check-in/check-out process has been extremely easy and quick. The staff is friendly and understanding also. Our car was being worked on at Jack Powell. They do business with Green Leaf. When we got to Green Leaf at 7:30 am we were met by Bryan Jimenez. Bryan took the time to find a car my husband was comfortable in and we really appreciated his thoughtfulness. He found a Ford Maverick. We finished the paperwork and we were out of there in 20 minutes. Bryan went over all the paperwork so we were informed and gave us a copy. We've rented cars here before. Reasonably priced. They cheerfully give a AAA discount. DO NOT transport your pet in your rental car. They will tack on a $250 extra fee if you do so. Also permit NO SMOKING in your rental. They offer a free shuttle to anyplace within 5 miles away. The vehicles we've rented here have always run well. Bryan Jimenez was fabulous, I was certain I'd lost the electronic key to this Toyota Corolla. Electronic key fobs can be extremely pricey. To complicate matters even more locksmiths have to buy a code to reset electronic keys. So unless you provide whatever second key there is for a car is costs double the amount to return later to program a second key. Bryan contacted their Temecula office on my behalf and arranged for Greenleaf to release their back up key to me so I wouldn't be charged twice by any locksmith. Brian was available all day. Gave me words of comfort and helped me find a way through. I was annoyed with myself for misplacing the key. I figured I'd somehow managed to accidentally toss it out. Bryan was kind, patients with me and helped us through this. Believe it or not I finally found the missing key. Never crazy busy here. I've never had to wait in a lengthy line. read more

Greenleaf is Escondido's best all around rental car agency. If you've ever had major service done down the street at Escondido Hyundai you're probably very familiar with Greenleaf. Rather than fix something the same day, Hyundai just give you a rental and tells you come back in a few days, but I digress. This latest rental was for 6 days over the Memorial day weekend. When we requested a vehicle that would seat 7 they gave us the Ford Transit. It's basically a trade van but they have three rows of seats.. Just so you know, it actually worked well for us.. The Transit was clean as a whistle when it was delivered to us, which is exactly how I returned it after an hour of cleaning. So these guys do a great job with the cleanup in-between rentals. - Very casual staff here. No pressure up-sells for extra insurance and when you return your car there's no rental guy wearing a suit and holding a clipboard looking over your vehicle with a fine-tooth comb for minor damage. - They do have a limit of 150 miles per day, but I returned it over the limit and they didn't care. - Shuttle service was quick. read more

I needed a rental car quick and I did not want to break the bank. My new truck broke down, I just need a rental for about 5 days. Once again.... wanted something reasonably priced. All the big car rental names wanted like a million dollars for the 5 days. I found GreenLeaf (Escondido). What a gem !!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE THEIR RATES !!! I thought... ok.... it's cheap and so will the car be cheap. But no !! I got a Hyundai Accent with electric windows, mirrors and a nice car stereo (with modern display and advanced Bluetooth connectivity - User Interface). Extremely competitively priced. Vehicle was clean and in great shape. Look for their specials on their website. It saved me tons of money. My advice to you...... Go and see the cars and rates at GreenLeaf. They will also quote you over the phone. If you have big name Auto Insurance, you are most likely covered. They won't force you to get the supplemental insurance. Not one bit. If you do need it however, they have your back. If your insurance is lacking, get the supplemental. I did not need it. But even with the supplemental insurance, your rates will still be way lower than the competition. For over two decades, I traveled lots for business. So trust me, I have rented many a car, from the big names. GreenLeaf doesn't have all the glitter they have, but they have a great product (service) and even more awesome staff. And even with the low rates, they still offer pick up and drop off !! In a nice van. The three people I interacted with were all friendly and professional. Go for it !! Makala Dempsey and her staff were awesome from the time I picked up their Toyota Camry rental until the time I dropped it off and they gave me a ride to the dealership which had my 2016 Cadillac SRX for 6 days. They worked like a well run team. Each one would offer to jump in and help the other if needed to speed up the process. Every single person at Greenleaf was outstanding as was the Toyota Camry which was very clean and well maintained. Management needs to tell Makala what a wonderful job she is doing and what a great team she has. I remember when Enterprise used to offer this kind of exceptional service. Need a rental car? Best kept secret in San Diego (and shouldn't be)! We wanted to rent a minivan to drive to a gig (laser show) in San Francisco to save wear and tear on our minivans. The prices we were being quoted by the usual suspects (you know who they are) were way more than we felt was worth leaving our car home. I did a final Google search for alternatives and found these lovely people. The price was half (or less) of what the others wanted for the same car (Dodge Caravan). More importantly, they had provisions for us to return it on Sunday (after hours) and didn't charge us for the day they were closed (the other guys wanted to charge us for Sunday, even though they were closed!). Yesenia was extremely helpful on the phone and both she and Bryan were so sweet and accommodating when we got there.
