I no longer recommend Avis and, as a Presidents Club member, have officially switched to Enterprise. Over the past few months, I've repeatedly faced issues trying to book one-way rentals from or to Shreveport and DFW. Despite being a paying customer, Avis continually blocks my ability to rent cars at these locations, forcing me to take my business elsewhere. Their claim of car shortages is unconvincing when the system clearly restricts one-way bookings, yet allows round-trip rentals. I've booked eight cars through Enterprise for the next two months because Avis won't let me rent from DFW to Longview, even though cars are readily available. This isn't a rate or availability issue--this is a systemic failure. It's incredibly frustrating to have my loyalty disregarded in this way. Avis seems to be driving away business, and I'm not the only one. Local management needs to address this or it's only a matter of time before this location closes due to lost business. Wouldn't return the vehicle because I rented it in Dallas!!!! Even after I explained I would pay and it was an emergency situation ... Sick Father in hospital!!! Oh lord! We've been renting here for years! They moved the car cleaning guy into the office! He is nice enough don't get me wrong, but in the past even in the parking lot we couldn't even talk or say goodbye because he has to come talk to you! A pleasant hello is one thing but not a FULL CONVERSATION! We rented our car for pickup 12/26 @ 10 am. Arrived at 9:45. Did not leave the lot until almost 11:30! He is uncomfortably slow and then he has to chit chat as well! There was almost a cat fight in the car rental area over who was next in line when my husband finally got our keys! This is not the time of year for someone not on their game with a computer! Get it together Avis! Took 30 minutes to return car today with 1 person in front of me. My time is important as well! From today's visit I know his sister is ill (not covid) and he finally got a phone number to call her after calling 4 people in the family and that he can't call her until tonight after he gets off. You have 3 people in line, please focus on your job! It might speed things up! read more

Hertz.......Oh how do I miss thee. Not to sound snobby, but the perks that come with being a President Circle Member (basically a Hertz Gold Member who rents a lot) is the only way to go when it comes to car rentals. I miss how you can find your name on the board, find your car in the assigned #, hop in the car (usually upgraded), take off. Avis is the only car rental agency at GGG (Longview Airport). I felt like Jerry in the Seinfield episode. Why all the typing?!?!?!?! Anyways, I was stuck at the rental counter for 20 minutes. Finally get my key (ONE KEY....JUST A KEY) and am told to look for a silver Corolla. I get to the parking lot and there is a SEA OF COROLLAS (well, 5 or 6). It's a pain in da butt trying to open the trunk of various silver Corollas while towing two luggage bags in a parking lot that is barely paved. Dear Santa.....Can I get an early Christmas present? Please have Hertz open up an office in every airport, in every city? Please? read more

After traveling & flying for 13 hours I flew into Longview to pick up my rental car. I have my 87 year old Mom with me. I had reserved the car months ago because it was in the terminal. We were in Longview for her 70 class reunion. At the rental car desk , I was handed the rental agreement & keys. I was told to go get my car. ( no look it over for dents or scratches, just your car is ready for you). I walked out and found it. The windshield was covered in bugs. The car was filthy . It had trash in it. It had a hat and tape let in it, from previous renter. The inside was dirty and wet. It had been dropped off and never cleaned up. I went inside and explained I needed another car, that it had not been washed. I could not see out the windshield, from the bugs. She told me it was the cleanest car they had. She said they did not have another car for me. She told me I could take it to the car wash. Yes ,after flying for 13 hours , that is exactly what I wanted to do ,before going to our hotel and go to sleep, is go find a car wash, to wash my rental car. I told her to come out and look at the scratches for documentation, that the car had them ,before I took the car. She refused to do that , she said she knew they were there. She refused to sign a picture of the car damage. I wanted to ask her if the real car clerk got eaten? This was something out of a X file show. When I demanded a different car , She asked me if I wanted to cancel my reservation. Stuck out at the airport with my 87 year old Mom , in the Texas heat . This was such terrible nightmare. The car has a muffler problem. I will be driving my Mom & her elder friends. I email Avis corp. and called Avis corp. the next day. The only response I got was they would review it in 3 to 4 days. Never in my years of car rental experience, have I ever had such a awful, difficult time . This is just not acceptable. I still have the car and will turn it back in but afraid of what I will be charged and what to expect. I will never rent a car from Avis again. Cindy at this location(Longview airport, Tx) was so pleasant & courteous. Easiest car rental we have EVER had since switching to AVIS. We look forward now to our out of town adventures. read more
