I'm working with several locations of AVIS rental for corporate contract, and this location is THE worst of all. Does not answer phone calls, and if they do after many tries, they put me on hold for average of 15~20 minutes and just hangs up the phone. I call them back since my hold was disconnected, and they get angry, telling me there are customers they have to deal with in front of them. I did not rush them, and just waited on hold as they told me to do so, but it doesn't matter to them. After spending few hours just to talk to them, I finally get to make a request a copy of an rental agreement, which took less than a minute. Manager tells me that he will send me a copy, then ignores all the calls and texts afterwards without sending me the copy. This happened several times and I'm not going to call or have business with them again from now on. read more

Mind you this is peak holiday travel and now I'm without a reservation to travel . I rented a mid-size SUV online and prepaid on October 8, 2025, through Avis. When I arrived at the Duluth, GA location (3547 Old Norcross Rd) on October 16, they didn't have the RAV4 or anything comparable that I had reserved. This was extremely disappointing, especially since I was traveling out of town to be with my family to honor my late father. The lady at the counter was very kind, but untruthful about the policy, and the location itself was unorganized. They gave me a dirty Chevrolet Traverse that smelled like cigarette smoke and even had cigarette buds left in the window--and I don't even smoke. They did not clean the car when they initially gave it to me. To make matters worse, the check engine light was on, and the manager, Patrick, told the clerk to inform me it would "go off," but it never did. They offered a van instead, but that's not what I reserved, and I didn't want to deal with the size or extra gas costs. I returned the vehicle I rented on time, but their system was down, and I'm still waiting for a call to confirm the vehicle was checked in properly. I was told by the lady at the counter that I was "clear," but I have not received any confirmation. I've been waiting since yesterday for someone to return my call concerning my drop-off, and online, it still shows that I never picked up my rental. It also lists it as an intermediate SUV, even though on Priceline, I paid for a mid-size SUV, which explains the discrepancy in my rental. This was my second disappointing experience with Avis, and I'm very upset with how this entire situation was handled. I made a reservation for Duluth, GA location and when I arrived to pick up my rental the lady at the counter informed me that there was no car available for me. This isn't the first time that has happened to me at that location. Don't waste your money, time and energy at this location. They don't care. What is the point of reserving a vehicle if they have none. I call Avis customer service and she informed me that they have vehicles in their lot. Let me just tell you that I wish I would have read reviews before renting a car from this Avis location. Not only was the customer service horrible (like hire new people ASAP), but I was made to feel like a second class citizen, forced to wait by the front door because I did not have a mask on. MIND YOU one of the employees himself wasn't wearing a mask. It's 2022. Everyone has lifted the mandates and if you want to wear your mask, cool. After a long day, I arrived at Avis to return the vehicle, and the man at the front asked us to stay out in the rain to wait because we didn't have a mask. I understand if that's store policy though 90 percent of places don't require it anymore, but at least have one to offer me instead of making me wait in the rain. I visited a family member in lawrenceville, I'm from out of state visiting. The Duluth location showed as the closest to her and was most convenient if needed to take a uber, lyft, or public transportation. When I arrived I explained my reservation, right away, they indicated they couldn't find it, so they uppriced me to that days rate as a new quote. My Avis app shows my reservation with pricing ofcourse. Then the worker (female) and manager (male) both indicated unable to find reservation, ( sorry to be you was implied) as they were both very unprofessional (Rude) in person. Ironically over the phone prior to taking a Uber? the female rep confirmed my reservation.. long story shorter, I also had originally made a reservation for Avis Lawrenceville at the same rate previously, due to the city name, and its my first visit. Lucky for me i didnt cacel it! As the Lawrenceville Avis was much more Professional. bB the way I did contact Avis Customer service while this was in progress, this was a week before Christmas 2021. Renter Beware at Avis Duluth! So I ended up renting at Lawrenceville and made a review with them after I returned the vehicle. Review for Lawrenceville: The Team at Lawrenceville is so Awesome! I had contact with both shift Team Members ( am & pm) and my experience was identical. My experience at Duluth was veey unpleasant, and they should be replaced with any of these Team Members to provide Exceptional service to the customers of Avis. Do you remember the sloth? I'm pretty sure they're working with dial up internet still. We waited 45 minutes just for our turn (mind you there were only 2 customers ahead of us). The owner/manager is awful. He finally showed his face after nearly an hour only to speak to me with much disrespect. Totally talked down to me. They did not have a car for us and he just shrugged his shoulders and told us it is what it is. He suggested we call the district manager to complain. We were offered to wait until a car came in or drive away with a car which was returned filthy and they were working on cleaning up for us. Clean up job was fair. I cant believe they have the manager cleaning cars and taking care of customers. No wonder he's in such a sour mood. The car was in need of an oil change too. They told us to ignore it and that they would never put customers in danger. I will never rent from Avis again. Ugh. All to save some money. I'd rather stick with Sixt. Wish I had read some of the reviews before renting from here. It wasn't the worst experience of my life, but it's quite clear that they don't staff the place properly and there is a definite lack of care going on. We prepaid the full amount for a week's worth of rental and scheduled a pickup for 12:00. When we arrived, there were 10 people in line, all of whom had also made a 12:00 appointment (I'm really glad we set it up for the day before our trip, or we would have been an hour behind schedule getting out of Atlanta). Waited in line for 45 minutes to get our car, which we saw was waiting outside, just returned and dirty. They literally took it to the back for 5 minutes to give it a quick wash before sending it out with us for a 1200 mile round trip ride. The car was still dirty and smelled of body odor (which somehow exuded from the vents). Don't get me wrong. It ran, and got us from point A to point B and back again, but when you pay almost $100 a day for a car, this was pretty subpar. When you reserve online, you get the feeling there is a parking lot full of options for your rental. Nope. There's about 7 or 8 cars, and they're all cruddy one off versions of cars anyone in their right mind would drive. It's not hard to call people and ask them if they would like to come in early to pick up in order to avoid the traffic jam that ensued that day. It's obvious that the guy was aware that there were that many reservations and did nothing to cope with the fact ahead of time. All he and the 2 kids washing cars were concerned with was getting out of there at 1:00 (they close at 1, not at 3 as is stated on the door). They don't check the cars to make sure they are in working order for trips, they barely clean the cars, and they definitely don't know how to run a business. Go anywhere else. This dude doesn't deserve to run a business and line his pockets with our money, people. read more

Went there today and had an awful experience with the older African American gentlemen at the desk. Customer service sent me to this location with misleading information and normally I go to the Lawrenceville location because their cars are always clean and ready. When I got there the man was very rude the whole time mind u I had my toddler with me and his car seat since we got an Uber to take us there . Long story short I wasn't able to rent a car because the company had charged my card the day before for my rental and then cancelled the reservation. So I went there for no reason despite what customer service told me . Once that happen he was very short with me . He treated me like crap and told me and my son that we had to leave the location and to come back when we had money. Despite this not even being my fault it was a system mistake . I broke down in tears because I didn't have a ride there and I had a crying two year old while I'm trying to speak with customer service . Never again . I will make a complaint for the treatment to the better business bureau as well. I have spent thousands of dollars with Avis this past year and this hurt me . How could you kick a women and her child out a location because she was trying to work out the details with customer service . When returning my car the lady at the front desk who you could obviously tell did not care nor want to be there asked me if my car was full and I replied yes I just filled it up. Well the next morning when submitting my expenses to my company I see on my receipt the genius who processed my return charges me a $107 fuel service charge!!! This employee needs to be fired because from her attitude and shortness with me you could tell she didn't give a damn about anyone or anything but herself. I was in a car accident. The at-fault driver's insurance company gave me a three week allowance for a vehicle rental. I was unable to find a rental place that would pick me up (COVID). So, I simply walked to the nearest car rental place to learn more about Avis. This is the Avis in Duluth, GA on Old Norcross Road. They had REALLY bad reviews, so I was exploring what I thought was my best option. I am elderly and disabled, but I walked there. I arrived, and sat in the welcoming chair outside of Avis to rest for a second. Then a very angry man made gestures from inside letting me know that I was not at all welcome to sit there. He waved me on, and I tried to explain that I wanted a rental for three weeks, and he said, "you ain't rentin' nothin'." I felt so small. I cried all the way home. I have been on hold with Avis' so-called customer service for three hours. They continue to say that I will speak to a manager soon. I am calling my lawyer. Got a car from the airport and dropped it off here. This is a small neighborhood store conveniently located beside a gas station. It's address is Old Norcross road, but the store front is actually located off to the side on Davenport road, so take whatever the GPS is telling you with a grain of salt. It's definitely a small operation, with only one guy helping customers, manning the phone, etc. It's a little dated, sparsely decorated, but the guy (Patrick?) was friendly enough. What weirded me out though was the fact that they didn't have internet to check on my web account (I registered for an online promotion). Also, they don't have pick up/drop off service. read more

I've rented from Avis got 20 plus years. Terrible service and rude at this location. I called 3 times to see if up it was possible to rent an SUV. The first time a young lady answered and said she couldn't talk now. She said she would call me back. She has by up on me as I was asking if she had my number. Needless to say never called back. The second call she put me on hold and never picked it up. I called back a 3rd time and she was rude. She tried to tell me she talked to me and told me she couldn't guarantee a car. When reservations are made in advance, I am able to get the car type that I request as they have the ability to pull cars from the Airport fleet. The cars are always new and low milage. read more

Told my husband to drive to the Atlanta GA Airport location as they would "definitely" have an SUV available - they wouldn't pick up the phone to call this location to confirm that. Got laughed at at ATL Airport as they didn't have any cars at all and wouldn't for days. We were still charged in full. This rental location has an employee who knew the ATL Airport wouldn't have any cars available, but sent my husband on a wild goose chase knowing the location would be closed by the time we realized this fact. He literally says get out from here with the keys. At one point me jumped out of counter and tried to intimidate me and happened to be defensive asking stop questioning, He gave the similar response to the customer earlier to me. Most of all he didnt do his job well to prepare my rental contract and when I asked him about the same, he was very unprofessional and jumped on to me to stop asking him. I just rented a minivan from this location a week ago and the customer service here is very poor. The pick up of the car was okay, though I had to wait a while because lack of staffing. The van they gave me worked great and was cheaper than other places I had rented from. The biggest problem came after I had dropped the car off. A day after charging me for the agreed price for the vehicle, I received another $55 charge that I did not authorize. I called to talk to someone about this and got the manager Patrick. I inquired about the charge and was immediately treated rudely. The charge was for cleaning the inside of the van, a understood need when you are traveling with two small children. But it was not the charge but the rude attitude I was given that was unacceptable. He proceeded to tell me that the vehicle was "TRASHED" and had to be detailed. He also told me that it was well within his right to charge me as much as $125 for the cleaning and I was "LUCKY" he only charged me $55. So in response I told him I understood the charge but did not appreciate the attitude he had displayed. He became defensive and told me to "be quite" so that I could here him out. All of this is unacceptable behavior in a customer service situation. I am in the sales business myself and would be ashamed to have talked to a customer in this manner. I will say that the district manager returned my call in a very timely and respectful manner. For that reason I would not right the entire Avis company off but will never do business with this location a again. read more

This place deserves less than a star. In fact it should be "Under Construction". AVIS included! I call up this place and corporate to confirm my rental from the email THEY GAVE ME A MONTH AGO WITH THE CONFIRMATION NUMBER only to learn it's not in their system. After spending hours explaining myself and having proof from the emails I recieved and even having a reminder email sent three days before pick up, they had to lock me in at a new rate for pick up. THIS IS THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! I was told to pay for their mistake basically! My rate went up $50 bucks and when you are visting sick relatives while living on a budget, $10 dollars is too much.
