    Avis in Dedham inside of Holiday Inn

    We booked a car Friday night (7/14/23) for a Saturday pickup at 10AM (7/15/23). We get there and they tell us that our 5AM pickup can't be made because they have no cars at all. We showed her our confirmation and she just shrugged and said no cars at all for anyone. She offered no solution when we told her we were stranded and showed no emotion. We would give negative stars if possible due to terrible business and attitude towards us and other customers. I'm stuck and frustrated

    Don't go here, especially if you value your safety during COVID-19. I went here to avoid the airport rental car pickup during the pandemic, and it was a mistake. To start, I had to find the location with very poor, hand-written signage, as it is located inside of a Holiday Inn. When I went to the rental counter, the woman (who had no other customers) did not look up at me, as she was in the middle of a task. She continued to go that task for another solid 5 minutes before she looked up or acknowledged me, knowing full well that I was there. When I was finally acknowledged, she asked for all of my information, not asking if I was a Fast Break member, which I was. The entire reason that I had signed up for Fast Break was so I could facilitate the rental process and be inside as less as possible during the pandemic. She said she couldn't find my Fast Break information and we had to go through the whole rental process. When I got to the vehicle, I was horrified by the condition of it. I see all of these commercials and website messaging touting how rental car companies are doing everything they can to maintain cleanliness during this time and going the extra mile to clean vehicles. That couldn't have been further from the truth in this case. As you can see in the photos, there was bird feces, dead bugs, a scratch and marker on the exterior of the vehicle and caked on food, smudges, hair, and dried liquid spillage on the inside of the vehicle. I had to sit in the parking lot and clean the car for 30min because I did not feel safe driving it off of the lot during this pandemic. It was completely obvious that this car had not been cleaned at all in between users. All in all, a really bad experience. Will never use Budget again.

Had he taken 30 seconds to explain the charge before charging it, things would not have escalated. Instead he said if you are going to be confrontational he would cancel the rental. . I did not become confrontational until he turned hostile over the questioning of the fee. He clearly did not want to do the work to resolve the additional charge. Which was avoidable. Time would have been saved had he disclosed the fee from the start. But because he didn't, it created more work for himself and he clearly didn't want to do more work. When he canceled the reservation (after charging my credit card) and he refused to provide proof. He did not even process it so that it would generate an automatic email. Sadly this one of the only non-airport locations open on Sunday in the area. Just before him "helping" me he had a dispute with another customer over charges and they also left without renting. I've been to other enterprises and never had an issue. This was one of the oddest encounters.

Alex picked me up at Akiki Auto with the rental I had was a zford Escape it was too big and boxy for me so I asked to be switched into something similar to my Mazda CX30. I was then helped by CJ and switched into their Carbon Mondel Mazda 2024 CX30 I instantly got in and was hit with smell of smoke. I also had to put the car seat in car myself with work clothes on and heels... But the guys were very helpful in extending my rental while my car work kept getting pushed back. I only have it 3 stars due to issues with rental the buttons were stuck the driver door sounded hollow when shut. Dents and chunk taken on one tires just very little upkeep and maintenance on the car. Alot wear and tear. And took almost month to get smoke smell out. Not ideal with toddler.

While it was parked at my home, a neighbor told me it has a flat. A flat? How? So I instantly called Enterprise and they connected me with their roadside assistance team. They shared that this car has NO spare tire (why wouldn't it?) and they were coming to tow it. They asked if I needed a replacement car and I declined. Them towing from my property is the last time I saw it. (No one ever told me I'd be charged for any of this) Fast forward to September 29. I needed a rental for the DAY once more. Upon entering, I asked if the Jetta was all set. The employee quickly said it was, and I proceeded with my next rental. (I had NO idea at this point I was yet to be charged a huge bill) so then I got an unsafe Mirage and within a couple hours, I returned it. It shook at 70mph and the alignment was WAY off. Long story short on that - they ended up refunding the Mirage, which was nice. But I let them know that that car should NOT be on the road. So remember the Jetta, from the 23rd? Well, it seems some of the folks at this Dedham location cannot keep accurate records. Their paperwork (and the final bill) claims I had the Jetta from September 23-26, AND I was charged on top of that a late return fee so my $88 rental became a $357 rental. Since I've learned of this - I've been reaching out to Enterprise for over 2 weeks with no success. I've chatted through their website. I've called and spoken with a few reps and even Escalation. I've called the Dedham branch and I've emailed the assistant manager. Not ONE person has reached out to discuss this. If someone from the Dedham Enterprise location could call me to clarify their billing practices, that would be great. I'm owed over $200 and I'd love to know how they have NO record of the car being towed on the 23rd.

I waited 45 minutes in line, and when I got to a representative she was absolutely clueless. When I inserted my company credit card it can back rejected which I knew was an error because I used it all day with no issues. Instead of retrying the card she said I had to call my credit card company. I ended up cancelling my reservation and taking an Uber to my hotel. At the hotel my credit card worked fine. I would not recommend Avis at all, there are cheaper and more reliable place to rent from. Stay away!!!!

It seems that overbooking is a routine practice for budget. Cars are available if you are lucky to arrive when another customer drops off. If youre not? Tough luck. You can wait if youd like. I happened to be the lucky one. Customer service on the 1800 number is awful. Rude. Confrontational. If they dont like something they drop the call or transfer to another rep. Ive been ping ponged between 6 reps (!) to get one day extension. They all mentioned fees but could not tell me what they are. They last rep flatly said "i cant tell you what the fees are, do you want it or no?" When i replied "my friend, what are the fees?!" He just hung up. If you have an issue you are stuck. Period. Go to enterprise. No issues there over multiple rentals, for me.

    Do NOT come here! Biggest scam company I've ever come across. There's an Enterprise down the street…read morethat's actually an honest company. Someone hits my car, but luckily the driver is responsible (which is not something I can say about Rent-a-Scam here) and reported the accident. As such, their insurance company agreed to cover all of the costs of the repair and rental car. Despite this, I was forced to provide a credit card but was reassured that it was just a formality. Three days after I return the car my credit card is charged for $151. Can't believe they lied straight to my face. I called them immediately and was told by a guy named Micah, "oh yeah I see you returned the car on time and there wasn't anything wrong with the car, I'm not sure why you were charged - let me talk to my manager". I get a call back the next day that they would provide a refund. This was March 23, over a month ago and no sign of a refund. I have called again and the same guy Micah said to e-mail the manager because for some reason he doesn't know how to e-mail himself (the company is clearly all around incompetent). E-mailed the branch manager, James Ney, and no reply. It's been a month - I shouldn't have to beg for my own money, lol. If anyone has been in a car accident and has had to file an insurance claim, you know the process for getting insurance to pay can take weeks. I was already weeks without a car. I had to ask coworkers to pick me up and take me home. So to add insult to injury on an already awful situation, I'm out $151. Way to go, Hertz. You've successfully scammed me for your own selfish benefit. I hope everyone else reads this and stay away so they can avoid renting from a seriously shady company.
