Everything about this place is top notch. They care about people. We had a paid reservation with Hertz and when we arrived we were told they have no car for us. Thank goodness Avis was close and in Christmas week with no reservation they were able to let us have a car. Wonderful people. Our Christmas miracle. Can't say enough about this place. We had a RIDICULOUS experience. We booked and paid two months in advance, and while the owner/manager said everything was in order, he told us he couldn't give us a car until we gave him the discount code we used... which was on the other side of the country on a laptop we left at home. We explained this to him politely and patiently... a dozen times? And he smirked at us and just repeated that he "simply needed the code". We asked for alternatives, and he smirked and repeated himself. I show him our booking confirmation, our payment receipt. Apparently not helpful... though we have never had to do this any other time we rented a car. He recommended we call customer support... which was also no help. After more than a half hour of back and forth with him saying the same sh*t over and over, we started losing patience, and I told him I had my dying father outside and that this was ridiculous and we needed to leave. He eventually told us what the code started with... so he has the code after all. He refuses to give us the rest of the code. We called up someone on the other side of the country trying to get this code so we can just finally leave, which doesn't work either. Then... and again, this is over a half hour later, he said it would have been emailed to us. WHY DID HE NOT TELL US THAT in the first place??? We found it and gave him the code and he said "see, was that so hard?". I am not kidding. These are quotes. Why did we need to provide a code we used at checkout months ago? Why the smirks and the frustrating repetitive refrain to every question we ask? And why withhold information he clearly had in front of him? We will never truly know, but our theory is that he was trying to get us to agree to pay the full amount, not the discounted amount, even for a reservation we paid for two months in advance. It was all indescribably unprofessional. While the Hertz next door also has poor reviews, I recommend you go there instead. It's been a couple of weeks now and I'm still incredulous. Loyal customer for years but Agent at this location was extremely careless and dishonest. after attempting to pick up vehicle I prepaid he informed me that he had to run soft credit check. considering I really needed a vehicle for my kids to get to school and newborn appt i said ok and he still denied providing car. I tried asking what else to do. He continued to repeat himself offering no solution or options. at first I gave a bit of understanding that he may have not understood me due to possible language barrier gauging from his thick accent I was very patient and respectful. I continue to ask and after his repeats redirection to call a toll free number and unwilling to get his manager he told me to call avis customer service from my car which i remained in lobby. He repeated himself and told me I had to cancel my reservation which I initially adjusted from a sunday pickup to an earlier two day pick up based off suggestion. my partner then entered and the man stated he needed a credit card. he then gave to him and he didn't ask for social like me just immedately stated you can get it either. which he recently just had rental and credit score over 670x needless to say i refused to cancel but he stated i had to because he could not give the car and only way to get my money bck. I got on the phone with customer service with him there and i was reassured that i would get full amount bag and convo recorded because it was not my fault . next morning i get an email that i was only getting a portion of my prepay and called location and once again they try to say policy for not getting the rental as if i cancelled by choice. long story short i didn't get my full refund been playing phone tag all day yesterday and immediately got a rental at enterprise. cleaner nicer cars respectful staff helpful and prices are a little higher but worth it! I am still attempting to get the rest of my money back and reporting to better business bureau since AVIS cancelled my reservation NOT me and pulled policy for NOT indicate I am subject to a fee for their lack of assistance after i only changed my reservation from sunday to friday because i was reassured I would get the rental with paying full amount and $300 hold read more

whatever you do, don't use Avis. we booked and paid for a car 2 months before arriving in the US from the UK. Due to a delayed Amtrak from NYC, we called Avis to say we would be 20 minutes late a to collect the car which would mean 20 minutes after their closing time. They refused to wait despite me pleading with them. when we picked up the car as they opened the next morning, the rude employee charged us an additional $111because we were late. I had no option but to pay it but I emailed their Head Office to complain. Kaitlin who says she is their Territory Performance Manager replied, apologised and said she would refund the $111 to my credit card. That never happened, so not only are they the worst for customer service, but their staff at all levels lie. Overall unprofessional, shady experience. No review of car's exterior when we rented, no overview of the car. When we returned the car, they tried to tack on extra fees which were inapplicable, and tried to charge us for a late return (inaccurate). I would very much avoid this place even if their listed rental price is better than other agencies. read more
