Good location for most that stay at this hotel and need a rental car. But best to reserve in advance since the booth is covered by one person. I was only a drop off from a long trip from Virginia. Something I wish someone said earlier: "It's inside the Hilton!" Easy parking, cross through the Hilton Lobby and you will find the counter. Don't go early - Hilton people said the representative doesn't usually come in until much later... The representative was 35 minutes late, claiming he had an emergency at another site - and didn't apologize for his lateness. He then overcharged for the rental; then said, he "said it would be more." And waited while he went to fill up the car with gas. Too many flags - not a fan. Usually I don't waste time writing a bad review - but this was a particularly bad experience. Hope yours will be better. read more

This business is located inside a Hilton hotel and is basically impossible to find unless you know this information before hand. I arrive and the station was not staffed and I had to wait another 15 minutes for staff to arrive. However, when she arrived, the staff person was very friendly and helpful and also gave us a free upgrade. We returned our rental to an alternate location, so I can't speak on that. Worst customer service! I brought the car back 45 minutes late and was charged a late fee equal to one day. I asked for it to be removed considering the charging port wasn't working and for my small inconvenience would you be so kind as to dismiss the late charge. I did not get the fee dismissed. I rented this same car back to back when I returned it the forest time last week I was also 20 minutes late and was charged a fee. When I tried to explain that I saved them The expense of cleaning this car and prepping it for a new client. Saying I took it back as is. That still didn't sink in as a way for this attendant to make a customer happy and remove a fee for being late 45 minutes. Unscrupulous employee clocked out early and stuck me with a fraudulent late fee and a fraudulent gas charge. Details: My car was due at 6 PM at this location. I dropped it off at 5PM with a full tank. The Avis official had gone home for the night, but the front desk informed me they could take the keys. Three days later, once my final bill had processed, it was $50 more than I was quoted. I called Avis/Budget's customer support line and they told me I was given both a late charge and a gas charge. They worked with me and to their credit they did remove the charges. Avis Customer support was good, and the actual rental car experience was good -- I picked the car up at the Jamaica NY Budget office and I will rate *that* location five stars. read more

Worst customer service I have ever received. Not only was this location closed the day I was scheduled to pick up my car but getting in touch with her was nearly impossible. The price we got through this location was great but we should have known it was too good to be true because since she made it impossible for us to pick up our car we ended up paying almost double and almost missed our scheduled plans because of it. I would never in my life recommend using this service or Hotwire for that matter if you need a car. Especially if your on a schedule. I really can't tell you how poorly this location is run and how my anxiety and problems she caused me thay day. She even tried to make me feel bad and guilt me. No complaints, they are open 7 days a week with an outpost inside of the Huntington Hilton; if you want more than your typical ChevroBuick, make sure to reserve ahead online because their "fleet" is small. The rental counter is across from check in/Gift Shop in the Lobby. Chose a convertible Mustang for a week, and it was lots of fun to tool around in, even though it rained nearly every day I was on LI. The rental process is painless and this will absolutely be my go-to when home considering its proximity to Huntington (Hilton is in Melville, name is a tad deceiving) and easy breezy pick up/drop off. Avoiding the traffic and chaos of NY Metro airport rental and return/shuttle/waiting makes this Avis satellite a no brainer for future trips home. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I made an appointment to pick up a rental car at 1:30pm arrived to the Hilton hotel location on time to find out there's nobody at the Avis/Budget office. Called their business phone number and got a voicemail,I then spoke to hotel concierge at 1:32pm and they called the Avis representative on duty who said she'd be back to the office shortly.. I waited, waited and waited then called her twice - first time at 2:03pm she said she'd be back in 20 to 30 minutes after 20 minutes passed I called again at 2:24pm she first argued It had only been 12 minutes and didn't arrive till 2:53pm she sees me working on my laptop at her counter and laughs wtf?! I didn't find it amusing at all but wanted to get on the road rather then tell her off Then their printer wasn't working so I had to wait even longer to get the paperwork and wasn't able to get the car till 3:11pm Don't bother scheduling at this location unless you have time to waste. read more

DO NOT EVER RENT A CAR FROM HERE this isn't even a business this is a disgrace. The guy at the counter pulled the keys out of a plastic Walmart bag & just handed them to us. We went out to the car to find trash EVERYWHERE in the car. Literal trash in the cup holders, in the seats, and on the floor. Coffee cups, wrappers, an old burrito, water bottles, etc. There were two gallon bags of something disgusting (it looked like old chicken wings & brown juices) just sitting in the back seat, and the car had bird poop & dust all over it like it hadn't been washed in several months. This is the filthiest thing we've ever seen. We didn't even open the car doors we just went back to return the keys & tell him we weren't accepting this. Then he asked us to WAIT while he cleaned the car??? We cancelled the whole thing and left. Never renting from Avis again. read more

Rented a car for 2 days because my car was in the shop and I was not sure that I was going to need it for that long and the sales person Yvette told me that there would be a fee if I rented for 1 day and had to add another so I rented for 2 as I was assured there would not be a fee for only using it for one day. Well I returned the car next day. I was in a hurry to pick up my other car and she had a customer. She told me I could drop off the key and she would take care of the rest. Well come to find out she charged me for the 2 days! I called her 4 separate times and each time got a different excuse as to why the 2nd day was not removed from my credit card. I rented the car on 5/3 returned it on 5/4 and I am still trying to get refunded. I would never use this location again. It is not professionally run and although Yvette was pleasant she obviously is incompetent. The only bright spot was the car I rented was new. read more

I spoke to Yvette who was fantastic! So friendly, no hidden fees, & an extreme pleasure to work with!! The van was clean & ready to go! On 11/30/11 My boyfriend and i went to rent a vehicle from avis which we had reserved on line. We have rented from this location before and never have had a problem. It was 1:30 when we arrived and the reservation was for 2pm. There was no one at the counter so we asked the girl across the hall of the Hilton hotel if she knew where the agent was. She said she would be back in 5 mins. Well a half hour went by and now its 2 pm. I called the number on the reservation paper and the agent picked up i asked her if someone was working at the counter and she said she would be right there. Well that turned out to be another half hour. When we tell her that i am going to be an additional driver she turns around and says that i need to give her my credit card as well. I mention to her that we have rented from there plenty of times before and i have always been an additonal driver and she has never asked me for my credit card. She said things have changed. Her whole dimeanor was telling me that she was lying so rather than argue i went home and printed the rest of the rental agreement that i got online. It did not mention anything about an additional driver having to give their credit card.I also called the 800 number and they said the additonal driver did not need to give a credit card. So i get on the phone and call the agent Yvette back and i ask her to tell me where on the rental terms is this requirement located . she said she could not find it but that it was there. I asked her for the number to her supervisor and she refused to give it to me. she hung up and i called her back and she said she did not have her supervisors number. Then she put me on hold and would not pick up. I do not recommend this avis location simply because of the person they have working for them. She is unprofessional and makes her own rules. Whatever you do don't rent a car from Avis in Long Island. Had to be one of my worst experiences ever. The old lady at the counter has to be one of the most unprofessional people I have ever had to deal with. First I called to speak about the insurance and wanted to know if I can use my own. She was completely rude about it and spoke in such a negative tone and said call 800 number then hung up. After all said and done I ended up renting a car for one day when I brought it back she accused me of smoking in the car and told me she was going to charge me 250 I told her there's no way that it smells like smoke she insisted that it did and asked my wife to come smell the car when my wife got to the car she opened the door and it smelt like lemon cent do to the oil I use. This lady says the lemon smell is to cover up the smoke smell you can't argue with people who think they are right, and the tank wasn't full cuz it was on the full line not passed it So I took the car to the car wiped it down with a rag put 4 dollars gas and brought it right back in less then ten mins this lady gonna say oh ok it's good now smh. If you need to rent a car Avis is not the place to go. And if you do have two make sure you recorded everything because the old lady Evette sure does know how to tell a story.
