The place is very small and could use a paint job but service was great. We arrived at 8:50 am to pick up our car, knowing they open at 9:00. Driving to DC--got a big day ahead of us. No one was there so we looked around at the cars. We thought we were renting a Chrysler Town and Country but the only thing close was a Kia Sedona. I was dubious. The woman arrived right at 9:00 with a tiny assistant--probably 6 years old. He settled right into the back office and she got right to business. Somehow during this a line formed behind us. We went from the only two customers to a 10-person line in a minute or so. It could have been a panic situation but the woman (wish I had gotten her name) stayed focused and we were out of there in about 5 minutes. And the Sedona gave us an impressive ride. Chery McCadden is very RUDE, very unprofessional, & flat out makes RACIST comments. She needs to be FIRED. If corporate doesn't take action, we will proceed with legal action. ZERO stars customer service. We have been renting from AVIS since 2007 with no issues. She flicked my Egyptian drivers license that was in English & said we don't accept foreign licenses. She refused to honor our reservation and asked us to "leave or she'll call the police". We contacted AVIS customer service on the phone and they said it's absolutely it's accepted. She refused to talk to the representative I had on the phone. She refused to contact someone above her & in fact called the police on us. She said "I am this Avis and I will not rent to you." Ultimately, we left and AVIS lost our business forever unless there is corrective action immediately. We rented a car with Enterprise with no issues & no hassle. Please take action AVIS. We've been customers for years and there is no place for this kind of treatment or implicit bias in your company. read more

I am so glad that this company is working closely with Acton Ford. When my Ford Escapr 2015 needed to get fixed on 5/13/25, Brian helped me during the entire process. He drove me from Acton Ford to Avis and get me settled with rental car. I returned it on 5/17/25 Carl was the one who helped me this time. We had a problem with getting a receipt. We needed this receipt since we will be reimbursed by our insurance company. For some reason it was not sent us as supposed to be. We spend significant time calling and asking for help. Only when we reach a person on location, he was able to help us. All other people on who answered my calls did not even try to help. read more

Although the young guy that works here on the weekend is very pleasant and patient with archaic systems that AVIS refuses to update - I suggest going to Enterprise up the street. AVIS made an error in payment and I couldn't reach the local office. I was forced to go to their customer service center. TERRIBLE experience and could not rectify THEIR mistake. I have always had much better luck with Enterprise but was in a bind and had no choice but to go to AVIS. Enterprise has much better customer service, much better prices and they won't refuse to correct their mistakes. read more

Not a review of this location. It is a little run-down but the folks there were fine. The issue is with AVIS corporate. Apparently if you make your reservation on line, fall for the discount offer and pre-pay on line, you don't get a refund for the days you DON'T use if you return the car early. Avis has lost me as a customer. read more

I would not use any of us ever again for a car rental place they when you give them your credit card they do a hard credit pole on your credit score so basically they don't ask you to run your credit they run it anyways without asking the customer for permission at first they just run your credit when you give them your credit card through Equifax and all the different major credit reporting agency but they do not ask you or tell you that they're going to do that so for that purpose I will never use Avis rental car again read more

My Subaru wasn't safe to drive (but that's a whole 'nother story!) so I called Avis as recommended by my Service Advisor at Village Subaru. A fellow showed up in a sporty red Hyundai Elantra and we did the paperwork right there. I asked how much the rental was going to cost and he told me $30 to $35 per day. I was figuring 10 days so $300 to $350 plus taxes. Imagine my surprise when the charge showed up on my credit card for $540! Yes, I had the car for 11 days but when I stopped in at the office to ask for an invoice, they had me with the car for 12 days, the daily rate was $37 and they charged $9/gallon for gas that costs less than $2.50 across the street at Cumberland Farms. The agent on duty put in a request for a refund for the extra day but the cost is still crazy high. I should have gone in to the office or called to confirm the rate. Live & learn. read more

I'm standing outside of Avis right now and no one is here. It's 9:47am on Sunday and they are suppose to be open at 9am. There is a note that says to call a number if you are here during business hours and No one is here. So this happens often? I had to call the number twice. The person said that he called the Rep and he would be on his way and he was coming as well. I reserved a mini-van and I don't see one here. We had a very bad experience with this branch of Avis today. We arrived at what I can only describe as a shack in a car park to find the office locked even though it said it was open for business. A sign in the window said to call Cheryl if this was the case. Called Cheryl and she said she'd contact the rep and they wouldn't be long as they have to be within a 5 mile radius. We waited approx 15 mins for the rep to arrive. Our first impression was that he was a prospective Avis customer as he had passengers in the car. His female passenger stayed in the passenger seat whilst a child (son perhaps?) got out the vehicle with a McDonalds in his hands and followed us into the shack. There were no greetings or apologies for keeping us waiting, only 'you're waiting for me'. The rep also did not have a uniform on, or name tag - just jeans & top. Hardly the professional image you'd expect from one of the leading car rental companies. We asked about hiring a small vehicle for 1 week and were given a price. We then asked what type of vehicle it would be and the rep motioned to a vehicle outside and said 'it's that silver one'. Had the price been cheaper than your immediate competitor, we still would not used Avis because of the poor service we'd received. We felt like we'd inconvenienced the rep by his attitude towards us. Therefore, our business went to the competitor who were more than happy to help us and provided great customer service. read more

I've been going to this place for years and would never consider renting from anyone else. Cheryl is unbelievably kind and incredibly efficient. I used to find renting a car stressful but I seriously walk out of her office beaming every time. She makes everything about renting easy--fingers flying on the keyboard as she checks various return locations for us (we almost always rent one-way)--has awesome cars and gives great prices. The cars are super clean and the whole process is lightning quick even with all my neurotic requests. The rest of the staff is very sweet, too. Very nice small-town feel to the place. Avis Guilty of Bait and Switch - Overcharging Customers Bad Points See the content of my complaint to the BBB in Oklahoma shown below. Note: Avis ignored two inquiries by the BBB on my behalf. General Comments I rented a car from a local Avis office in my hometown of Maynard, MA. I was quoted a rate of $32 dollars per day if the rental was 5 days or longer. I was having car repairs done so at the time I didnt know the length of time I would need the rental. I ended up renting the car for 5 days and was billed over $300. I did get that reduced to $260 - they initially had me returning the car 3 days later at Logan airport (about 35 miles away even though the office in my hometown is about 1 mile away).The the bill should have been approximately $160. The quote I received was given to me on a business card which I subsequently lost. The rental agreement also didn't have the correct rate, the clerk said not to worry about this difference because it was a discount I was receiving.The bottom line is I never would have rented the car at such a high rate, I would have taken my bussiness elsewhere.This happened in September of 2003. Since that time I have filed two complaints directly with Avis. When I finally got a response they closed the file based on the fact that I couldnt produce the business card. Subsequently, I filed a complaint with BBB in Massachusetts. When I finally got a response to this complaint they said I should file a complaint in Oklahoma. That's why such a long time has expired. Consumer's Desired Resolution: $100 - this is approximate, I don't remember the exact number. But I think it is justified considering:1. Avis's ridiculous response to my complaints indicates they dont care about the customers and are just trying to make a quick buck any way possible.2. The initial bill of $300 indicates the clerk at that office may have padded the bill even more assuming that I would like many people just pay it and move on.3. If I call any Avis office today and ask for a weekly rate on the cheapest car it will be much less than what I paid. read more

Rented a car sunday, brought it back monday with a full tank of gas. I was charged for two days and $40 for gas instead. Tried to resolve the issue but the manager was very incompetent, kept telling i was gonna have to deal with customer service and never acknowledged the fact she made the mistakes. Made me look like a liar instead of trying to work the problem at hand. NOT QUALIFIED FOR THE MANAGER POSITION if i am asked. I am never going back!! read more
