    rented a car for a 3-day stay in Baltimore and was issued the filthiest vehicle on the lot. As a Preferred customer, I expected better. The wait was extremely long--clearly due to poor communication and I was finally handed a car without being walked through it. Trusting Avis's standards, I drove off only to discover the backseat was covered in dog hair; not a few strands, but completely coated. The interior and exterior were dirty, and the car had a foul smell. I'm highly allergic to pet dander, and this flared up my sinuses almost immediately. Despite booking ahead online, I had no time to go back due to a tight schedule. I trusted Avis to do their part, and they absolutely dropped the ball.

    According to my Avis reservation, I was to pick up a Toyota four-door sedan at the BWI airport Avis lot. When I went to the assigned space I found a Bentley four-door sedan. There was no key in the ignition and I knew better than to think it was my rental car. I returned to the rental car counter and advise them about the vehicle discrepancy. A counter staff member hastily pulled an outdoor staffer and jokingly begged him for whatever car had just been returned. I was reassigned a Kia Forte. This red car had approximately 38,000 miles on it and was a 2024 model. The front bumper had a large gash taken out of it, stripped down to the bare plastic underneath. There were several sets of huge scrapes under the trunk lid where it is clear, previous renters haphazardly dragged their heavy suitcases in and out of the trunk space. The paint has been taken off because the scratches were so deep. I took photos of the damage as proof so that I would not be billed for a damaged vehicle. When I was exiting the parking garage, I got out of the vehicle and requested the Avis exit gate attendant checking me out to make notes of all of the damage I pointed out. The gentleman was reluctant to take the notes, and I advised him that I was not leaving until I had a clear record of exactly the damage already on the car before I left the garage. Because a line was now forming behind me. The agent agreed to take down a few phrases, and handed me a faded carbon sheet. The car ran fine during my entire week stay. Thankfully, the car interior was in good condition. I promptly returned the car an hour and a half prior to the time I specified on my reservation. A gal who was quickly scanning other vehicles for a swift turnaround darted by my rental car as we were taking our luggage out of the trunk. I have been trying to return the car through the Avis app for approximately 10 minutes to no avail. The gal quickly ran by and agreed to scan the car. I asked for a receipt and she hastily waved me away, saying it was taken care of. I had no proof of the return and the app did not confirm the return either. I took the shuttle to the airport. I continued to try for the next two hours to return the rental car through the Avis app to no avail. I felt uneasy, leaving on an airplane without having properly returned the rental car. So I called Avis at the toll-free phone number, and the Avis staffer I spoke with said that it would be taken care of. I advised her that the garage attendant who scanned the car had likely already assigning it to another customer. It turned out to be the truth because the customer service agent could see that another renter had already taken possession of the car And yet I still had no receipt or proof that it had been returned or that my bill has been closed out. The customer service agent gave me a case number and told me to call back in a week. I left without knowing whether or not I was going to be charged an additional $400 for a second week. About 10 minutes later, I checked the app and my email and received a receipt. I don't understand why there is such turmoil to return a car through the app, especially after it has been scanned by a Avis agent and why I could not receive direct assistance while on the phone with Avis customer service staffer, who had already been able to confirm by computer that the rental car had been rented to another customer. I do finally have proof by receipt with a total of $360. I am now waiting for my credit card company's monthly bill to confirm the amount paid. I am hoping that there will be no unwelcome surprises. I am deeply disturbed by the condition of the rental car exterior and the difficulty experience trying to return the car and obtain a receipt for proof of payment. It has certainly made me think twice about renting from Avis again particularly when my employer has a contract with Avis. I was using Avis for a personal trip as I have done many times over the last 30 years, but it has made me reluctant to consider Avis in the future.

    We booked a budget rental car, Avis handles all of budget rentals in BWI. It was 2 people working and they took their time. Long lines and slow service. Make sure u get there early.

    Everything! The staff was rude and it was my first time renting a car and I didn't feel comfortable at all. Hated everything about it.

The next vehicle's display screen kept locking up when I tried to interface to Google Maps. Each vehicle was a nearly new Mitsubishi SUV. These are not really National's fault. There was only one person in front of me, my wait time was 5 minutes. I showed my ID and provided a credit card. The checkout process took less than 10 minutes. I walked into the garage where I was met by an employee who pointed me to a mini SUV. I was very happy with the car as it had less than 3,000 miles. It still had the new car smell and drove like a dream. Drop off was easy peasy. I got in line and someone came to take the keys and check in the car very quickly. Then I hopped on the free shuttle bus which took me to the terminal.

They didn't even have our category of car at this location, but to try to give us a cheaper level car without adjusting the price and then lying by saying the car they tried to give us was in the same category was totally dishonest. Even when we showed the proof to him online, he tried to deny it. Don't get me started on the cracked windshield that they pinned on us, probably because the previous renter bought the insurance. Even the rep said it was barely noticeable so we probably missed it when we rented the car. Since we didn't buy the insurance, they had a sucker to pin it on. Word of advice. If you still rent from this place, video every inch of the car. Take it slow and get it all. You can thank me later.

I had already done the pre-check in and my name was on the board when we arrived. Problem was, there were literally 2 cars to choose from. The whole Presidents Aisle was missing in action! While standing there trying to get into one car, a rep came over and tried to check it in to my name. Unfortunately, someone at the counter already reserved it. Thankfully, this Hertz rep was awesome and he saw a car that just had been returned, and he went to get it across the parking lot and brought it to me and checked it out for me. It was a Kia Sportage (2nd time I have received this type of car from Hertz. I like it...small SUV, very comfy, fun to drive, good gas etc). Return was a breeze. They have a shuttle that takes you to the rental car facility. It took about 10 minutes..one of the longer shuttles from airport to rental lot that I have taken. Rating would be higher if they had more cars.

Nobody was telling them what to do. No one was telling them what the problem was. One lady had been waiting there for two hours. Hertz had run out of cars and they had no resolution. The desk associates were completely flustered. They said it could be 1:30 hours for a car. They're just waiting until a car came in. If you don't think you'll have a car, don't reserve them for people. Hertz lost some credibility in my mind today!

    Hey yall!…read more Logan at BWI Alamo, just told me he can honor the 20% off discount I got from Erica at KANSAS ENTERPRISE, after my complaint there, but can't honor the premium upgrade she gave me due to not having those cars right now at 10:30pm on 2/3. For example: you don't replace a SUV with a compact car at the same rate. However most unsettling is how making changes at the counter to appease counter, agents... who by the way...discussed my rental situation in front of other customers.... was so poorly handled. Alamo BWI made me change my return flight match even though my car rental was for FEWER days than my flight itinerary. I spent a few hundred dollars on site changing my flight to match the date ON SITE... only to be told by Alamo management the problem was that i made the change in real time in front of them. What??!?? I am in town for a week and a half, but I only need a car rental for 3 days.... and that's a problem????? So I left because clearly, Alamo BWI no longer wants or values my business. I walked right out and booked next door at a different rental company.

We had just gotten married the day before and were supposed to leave for our honeymoon in two days. The stress this caused is unbelievable. It's now been three days, no update, no email, no voicemail -- nothing. That car is definitely rented to someone else by now, and who knows where my wallet is. The lack of urgency, accountability, and basic human empathy here is beyond disappointing. This isn't just poor customer service -- it's a total failure of common sense. If you value your sanity (or your belongings), avoid this company at all costs.
