Came in and no one aT the counter. Just one guy and he stayed washing the car and ignoring the long line at the counter.

At Avis in Covina right now. Had an 8am reservation. Stood in line for 30 mins, then I was told that because their computers were down, they had to round my $105 rental fee up to $200 ("that's how our system works") and the extra amount would be credited back to me when I return the vehicle? The guy at the desk was rude when I told him it's a poor policy to make their computer problem my issue. No issues with the car or the price, but their policy is stupid and customer service was weak at best. read more

This has to be the worst place. My parents made a reservation for a car. But when they got there they didn't have a car for them. I'm not too sure they know the definition of reservation. The staff don't seem to care if u get a car or not. They are not sympathetic to the situation. Obviously they needed a car for an important reason and not just to rent one for the hell of it. Talk about stressing out on an already stressful situation. Way to go avis. read more

i really hate writing 1 star reviews but i couldn't let this one go. - when we got there, we had to wait a bit.... nobody was there. walked around where i could looking for someone and finally someone came out from the back. (for those who are going to go there, it looks like a used auto dealership converted to an avis/budget rental. just fyi. - checkout process was fast...we were the only ones there. i will give them pluses for this. - when we got the car, i did an inspection and the car was pretty dirty. bug splat all over the front bumper and etc. usually when i return rentals, they always wash them so they're clean for the next rental. - the person never came out to inspect the car even though i saw some scratches. - on our paperwork, it showed a full tank of gas, but when we started up the car, there was only half. so we had to get that adjusted. - driving it back, notice the steering wheel was a bit sticky. so when we got back, we took some wipes and wiped down the INSIDE of the car...dash, steering wheel, etc....figured it wasn't bad until we looked at the wipes and they were DIRTY. like DIIIIIRTY. gross. and i guess i'll leave it at that. the person who helped us was courtesy and nice and had no problems with. it was the car that i had issues with. i don't think i'll be going back there to rent a car again. sorry avis of covina. not what i was expecting from Avis. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. Had a reservation weeks in advance, I show up at 730am and no one is there. Once they finally open at around 745am they don't have my reserved car. An hour later I am still waiting for a car to show up. Do not rent from here! read more

At first, I had no problem with this company. Car rental initially went smooth. However, upon return, I filled up the tank and when I arrived, it was 7/8 full (short 1 tiny line on the screen). Not only was the guy ridiculous about it telling me it was $10 to have them fill it to the top, which ended up costing me $1 to fill at the gas station, but he was rude as well. I've rented cars before in several other locations and never once did I have and issue for 7/8 of the gas tank missing. 7/8!! They chose to lose a customer and earn a bad review over a fraction of gas. Unbelievable. read more

I wish I had reviewed yelp prior to making my rental reservation with Avis in Covina. I learned my lesson and will do so going forward. Two weeks in advance, I booked online a reservation for a minivan. On 12/26, I came to pick it up, but was told by the two front desk associates that someone had called the 800 number to cancel my reservation. I said that it was not me, but they continued to press that "someone" called and cancelled it. For an hour, I deliberated my options, which were none but to go ahead with renting a 5 passenger SUV versus the 7 passenger minivan which I desperately needed. When I got home, I called Avis Corporate to report my experience. Avis Corporate confirmed that the rental office cancelled my reservation and that no call was made. I expressed anxiety that I had gone ahead with another reservation, but Avis Corporate ensured they were monitoring it for any further issues. This is an awful place with poor practices. Not only do they inconvenience you but then make you feel worse by making false accusations and placing the blame on you. Do NOT rent with Avis in Covina. read more

Fuck this place the guy said bring back by 3 pm I brought it by 1:30 pm they wanted to rank up another $100... They are quick to up sell you but not to fix the matter FUCK THIS PLACE NEVER RENTING FROM HERE I WISH I COULD GIVE NO STARS read more

I should of checked the reviews first before renting from this particular AVIS but the one closer to me had no 12 passage vans available so we took a chance and picked up a Ford Transit on April 23. This location has both an AVIS / Budget rental service so when I asked the sales rep, Hugo, he said that its franchise out by his boss and you the can tell he was more irritated that I was asking these question, so what ever I just brushed it off because I need this van for our trip. When he gave me the keys I was use to having the AVIS rep go with me to the vehicle to go to do a once over for any damages but Hugo stated, "You got the insurance coverage so don't worry about the dings, scratches, etc!" Really...? "Okay?" I guess I'm just being paranoid but I went ahead and walked the van and I noticed a lot of door dings, gashes, which is fine but I did notice that the van's front tires on the passage side was balding, and I was told that all the vans in their lot were all 2018 and newer but to see those tires in those conditions got me worried so I went back in and asked Hugo to switch me out a different Van that was in better condition. He did switch my van but again he seemed more annoyed than concerned that he was going to rent me a van with balding tires. So Im hooping that this was the worst of it but nope it gets worst. When we tried to return the van on Friday the place closes at 6 so my wife gets their sooner than I do because she's driving a smaller car and when she gets there 5 minutes before they close she was told by Hugo that everything is shut down and not to worry and that we can bring in tomorrow morning so we do but Hugo wasn't working on Saturday so I get charged an extra day and the girl who was working said to call either Sunday or Monday when he's back. Come Monday I speak to Hugo and his tone complete changes and he gives us an excuse that he needs to close the store before 6 or the alarm company is going to call. Ended up getting charged another day and the unwillingness not help speaks volume. I usually support small business around the area but the owner of the car rental needs to get himself better employees and ones who actually like their job. Never again, and I hope who ever reads this review stays clear away from this place and the bad service they provide. read more

I typically rent from this location when a rental is needed. I like the staff. and they usually have discounts or coupons available and I also have gotten free upgrades without asking for one. their hours fit my schedule. prices are better than enterprise down the street. staff is more friendly too than down the street. today's car needed a better towel off when it was washed read more

This is for customer service 800 number!!! I dont recommed avis car rental at all. It was my first time renting from avis. horrible experience with customer service. So, I made a reservation online for an economy rental. I didnt cancel my reservation on time, so I was charged as if I rented the car. I called customer service to see if they would accommate my situtation (I had a fun vegas trip planned, but the same weekend I was supposed to go, my transmission went out on my own car in the middle of traffic, holding up traffic and all, see tow truck review for brea towing, they were awesome). Panic that weekend trying to get my car fixed and the cost $$$$, it completeling slipped my mind. So Sunday 6/28/2015, the day of I remembered and looked on yelp and it said Avis closed at 2pm. Lied, it closes at noon, I was at Avis on a Sunday at 130p, way too late. Come to find out, my June statement shows they charged me for a full rental! My bad for forgetting, but this is stealing! The customer service rep said its my fault and that's what I had to pay for a cancellation, that its $25 a day, plus $100. Hmmm I thought, my rental is $110. So i owe you an additional $15. BS if you ask me, they could of given me a voucher for a free day or rental or something!!!!!!!!!!!By this point, I was upset with his horrible attitude! Needless to say, I will never ever! use Avis! and I will make sure to tell everyone I know!!!!!!!!! Keep my $110, but its stealing if you ask me, I will complain to the BBB too. Charged $110 for an economy rental I never picked up, because it was "reserved" for me. Hmmmm funny cause i saw other cars that were not rented out! Shady POLICY! NOT the actual employees of this site. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AVIS ONE BIT!!!!!!!!! FIND ANOTHER COMPANY TO RENT FROM LIKE ENTERPRISE, ETC! You get what you pay for and I got nothing, literally! but a $110 bill on top of my transmission bill!!!!!!!! No compassion at all! read more

Crappy Bleeping shitty business, car was dirty, over priced, online reservation suck they don't apply coupons, billing charges are not what they should be. I don't recommend this Avis to anyone!!!!!! read more

I've been going here for years whether it be one way rentals to/from the airport or renting 7 12 passenger van's for annual trips to Mammoth. They have always been professional, friendly and when I call at the last minute accommodating. I've even been there checking in when other customers were behaving rudely and / or making unreasonable requests and the staff always remained friendly and composed. Great place to rent from. read more

At first I was impressed...I had booked online and got there and requested the hybrid in front. I was told $10 a day more. I said that I would just take what I booked for. He said he would match the price. Awesome. I thought the bad reviews were wrong. I even added a day....car was great ...cigarette had been left behind but no biggie...called to ask a question about car feature ...mechanical...no one could answer including the 800 number. Was billed $111 for 4 days. $25 a day. Was assured this was the total. When I returned....totally different story. I supposedly owed more. He supposedly never agreed to match the price. I supposedly never added a day. I supposedly returned late....sucks because I totally would have used them again. read more

I've been planning a vacation for my family and scheduled a dodge caravan to fit all 7 of us. Almost two months in advice. Upon arrival at Avis in Covina workers advised that they wouldn't be able to provide an out of country insurance at their location and would need to drive to the airport to purchase it. EVEN although we had arranged this information since we booked it. AND CALLED A WEEK BEFORE just to make sure everything was set and the car would be insured correctly. Their employees failed to mention we would have to travel elsewhere for that. THEN, we arrive to the airport to purchase the insurance JUST for them to tell us they were unable to provide that insurance for the type of vehicle we had reserved. Keep in mind we had ask for all this information almost two months prior when booking with AVIS. So now we're unable to use this van for our trip. They offer us a Nissan Altima. A 5 seater when we specifically rented a bigger car since it's 7 of us. That was their solution. Like I'm going to just leave the rest of my family at home. You think it ends there? Once we agreed to take a smaller car they say they're unable to provide a refund. That WE ARE RESPONSABLE FOR CALLING customer service and asking for it. For the mistake THEY made and failed to mention to us. If they would've said TWO months AGO. "No we cannot provide and out of country insurance for the type of vehicle you're booking" THEN I would've gladly taken my business elsewhere. Where they know what their doing. Without ruining our vacation A DAY before we leave. Good job Avis. Excelente service. Please do not reserve your cars here. I'm sure any other company will have the decency of giving the customer the right information. read more

Rented a car for 3 days. Excellent service. In and out with no issues. And gave me a discount. Will definitely rent from them again.

Expect very Poor service and Be careful of their billing after your return the car on 2 occasions this place tried to overcharge me. Definitely Avoid. read more

I rented a car for Memorial weekend and paid online before pick up so when I went in the process was super easy and the man that helped me was very friendly and helpful. The only thing that kinda bothered me was that my car was not ready, I had to wait for it to be washed and it seemed like the kid who was washing it was taking his time. I wouldn't have minded as much if I didn't plan on leaving on my trip as soon as I got the car, so that set me back a little. Another thing was while I was driving the car, it seemed like it was having a little trouble and I was just nervous that it was going to break down on me. Even though it seemed like a fairly new Ford Focus, I wouldn't doubt if a previous renter messed up the gears. It was a nice car though and I was satisfied. read more

Not helpful and unprofessional. I had a problem with a bad smelling car and they acted like they didn't care. I also had an unknown added charge on my bill that was not previously explained to me. Do not rent from any AVIS! AVOID!! read more

I made an online reservation for budget rental truck! The reservation was confirmed and I received an email confirming the reservation. I arrived to pick up my truck and they didn't have the size I reserved. He said the closet facility I could go to and pick up the truck they already confirmed they had would be downtown Los Angeles. Seriously??? So the 24' truck turned into 10' that had no ramp and I am trying to move all my belonging. Bottom line the agent was not helpful and was quick to keep saying "I don't know what else to tell you". I asked for a discount and did receive that and mileage. I don't know why they offer online reservations if they don't have the equipment available. The agent told me that another customer had the same problem but they were able to locate that client the proper vehicle. They don't have night drop off nor did the website state they closed early. Very frustrating dealing with this company. Overall satisfaction is poor read more

Thank you Alex for saving my trip on such short notice. You are always most helpful. I have rented from you several times now and even rented in Texas hoping for the same great service. I will NOT go back to Enterprise ever again. Keep up the great work! read more

I recently rented a car to travel to San Diego for the weekend. Our return on the vehicle was 12:00pm on Sunday. I called about 11:40am to ensure them I was on the way but needed to fill the gas tank before the return. The man working was very rude and said I needed to hurry because he was going to close the doors. And because I was in such a rush to return the vehicle I left my handicap pass in the glove box. I called today to have them grab it for me and hold it until I could come pick it up. The man told me he didn't have the pass and that he wasn't sure if they had the car on the lot. I asked for him to double check the vehicle because I KNOW I left it in the car. The man then comes back on the phone and says he checked but did not see it. This car rental place has terrible customer service and were very unhelpful. I'm extremely displease, they also have very high rental prices. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Horrible rental experience. Reserved a full size car online 6 weeks in advance. Got to the location when they opened and was told they did not have a full size car available now and that I should wait until a return comes in or I can take the pick up truck that's available now. After waiting for 1 hr, we ended up with a dirty mini van. I'd suggest picking up at an airport location where they're more efficient and have more selection. Customer service was horrible in general. They couldn't get the contract right. Savannah was great though. read more

Decided to try Avis out for the first time since their prices were cheap and found a discount code through groupon for a great deal. Reserved a car a week in advance online, got a confirmation email, called two days before my rental date to confirm the rental and change the time of pick up.. No problem said the man who answered the phone. Received a reminder email the day before but it did not have the updated pick up time so called again to confirm the correct time, it was confirmed. The Friday comes when I'm scheduled to pick up my rental... 30 minutes before my twice confirmed pick up time, my husband gets a call saying they are all out of cars and they are sorry for overbooking. (WHAT!?) My husband goes back and forth over the phone and begins to complain about how unprofessional and inexcusable this situation was since there was multiple confirmations and booked a week in advance... They blamed corporate for the mistake. The first option they gave us was for US to drive to Ontario to pick up the car.. (They should have drove to pick up that car when they first realized they were "overbooked".) My husband gave them 30 minutes to figure it out and find us a car since it was now past our scheduled pick up time and our travels have been delayed. They stated they would see what they can do and call us back.. 45 minutes go by with no call back. So we called them and magically they had a car that just arrived... Thought we were on the right track.. We picked up a dirty Ford Focus with only 30k+ miles on it. The car seemed decent for our travels until my husband started to drive it; the transmission was slipping! The car drove like crap! When we complained, the rep said "all focuses drive like that". Mind you, my husband is in the automotive business so he knows a lot when it comes to cars but it didn't take a genius to figure out that the car was a piece of junk! We received no additional discount other than what I did myself at the time of booking. Horrible service. read more

We needed a rental last minute because our car broke down:/ the car was clean and the service was quick and easy. Maybe it was because I called first to let them know when I was coming. I took away 2 stars because it seemed expensive (at least for me it was) it cost $195 for the weekend for a Chevy Traverse. Enterprise quoted us $210 so I went with Avis. Hope this helps:) read more

Can't believe the "customer service" here. Car was dirty and had cigarette ashes in it. My car was in the shop for repairs and the mechanic needed the car longer. I had to extend the rental twice. I wasn't notified there was a "extension fee" of $10 each time you extend the rental. The agent that checked me in was unbelievably rude and was unclear of how the charges would hit my card. After trying to ask him a different way he abruptly told me good bye when he was unable to explain it a way I understood. I will NEVER rent from this corporation again. read more
