Currently sitting here for the past 30 minutes after checking in at the desk. Have a reservation, but they "are running behind". Haven't seen anybody who was ahead of me in line get their car yet either. Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode, except that was from 20 years ago when computers were horrible... read more

Avoid renting with Avis or Budget (shared counters) at Logan. As other reviewers have written, they have an ridiculously low number of people working the check in counter given the volume of customers/reservations. The lines are regularly extremely long. I just waited in a line with approximately forty people, with two people working, and a five minute check in process for each party (I timed it as my boredom/rage grew). The other customers around me were getting upset about the length of time they'd been waiting. I'll never make the mistake of saving a few dollars by going with Avis when renting out of Logan again. Waiting at least an hour isn't worth it. Do yourself a favor and go with enterprise. It boggles my mind that they wouldn't schedule more employees to speed up the process since very long wait times seem to be an ongoing problem. read more

Customer service at the counter pathetic. You could at least pretend that you like you job... Employee wasn't wearing a name tag and wouldn't give me her name read more

I have never had such a bad experience at a rental car company. Took over 45 min even with a reservation. Honestly, took them 15 min per customer to check out people. Something is horribly wrong with this place or their system read more

Terrible service, waited for Customer Service, i'm a preferred member and still had to go to the counter for a high mileage, dirty POS car. Took three different vehicles before I was able to drive away. On the return, Sunday morning, I waited 30 minutes for someone to check the car in, since no one was working. read more

Boston Logon does not have a consolidated rental car center (yet) so when arriving you are at the mercy of the shuttle driver seeing you. Not fun. But besides that I received efficient service when picking up and dropping off. The agent even found me a mini SUV as my upgrade despite being pretty sold out. When returning, there is a gas station on the airport property but it is much easier to fill up before ahead of time. Drop off was painless and they run shuttles back to the terminals often. I've definitely had worse experiences at airport rental car centers, so we're giving Avis the pass. read more

I wouldn't recommend this Avis at all. This location had too much going on for me. First, when I arrived they tried to give me an suv instead of the economy car that I reserved, and the representative seemed like he got irritated after I told him I didn't want an suv. Second, they ended up giving me an economy sized vehicle that wasn't on a full tank (only had 3/4 gas, I've never encounted that before). Third, When I returned the car I asked for a receipt, and the lady at the counter got an attitude and acted as if it was a big deal, when in reality I needed a receipt in order to be reimbursed for the rental. Then she proceeded to ask me for gas receipts, because they needed proof that I filled the car back up, (I've never had to present gas receipts for a rental as proof that I filled it up, when she could've easily walked to the car to see for herself), then she started saying that if I drove UNDER a certain amount of miles then I would be charged a $15 fee, which left me confused. The reservation clearly stated that I had UNLIMITED mileage, so I could drive as few or as many miles as needed..... Avis is ALWAYS my go to place for car rentals, but I will NOT be coming back to this one.... They employ rude/lackluster customer service reps who could definitely use a lesson in hospitality. read more

If I could give them Zero Stars, I would! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS AVIS LOCATION! The representative (a female with a Spanish accent) at the desk offered me loss and theft coverage; I refused, yet SHE CRAMMED IT INTO MY BILL, then pointed and said, "Sign here." I trusted that I was signing (being tired from a cross country flight that left at 6am), and should have read what I was signing. I pre-paid for my rental entirely, yet discovered another $344 charged to my credit card when the bill came after my trip. When I called up, I found out I was tricked into signing for services I declined. After a long flight, I trusted this was for the agreement, not stuff I HAD JUST REFUSED! In addition, I pre-paid for the tank, which means, I can bring it back empty. YET THEY CHARGED ME FOR REFUELING! Plus the representative gave me a GSP unit set to Spanish, AND I DON'T SPEAK SPANISH! The guard at the exit shack was kind enough to fix it back to English for me before I left the lot. I called up and complained about these extra charges, wondering why I was being charged what appears to be the whole cost of the rental itself! But because I signed for this crap I refused and was tricked into signing for, I only got a 25% refund on those loss/theft insurance add-ons. They did refund me for the double charge on the fuel, as I pre-paid for it in advance. THEY PRACTICALLY DOUBLED MY BILL WITH THIS BULLPUCKY! WHAT DUPLICITOUS SCUM!!! I WILL NEVER RENT FROM AVIS AGAIN! YOU LOST MY BUSINESS FOREVER!!! read more

Very rude customer service, after making a call to get the car ready, she whispered bitch to the other after hanging up. I was shocked to hear it. Also, when exiting the rental garage, the employee showed no interest in inspecting the auto body. I have rented many times from Avis, this one is the worst. read more

Kevin at Avis really saved us after a disappointing visit at the next door Dollar. We are so glad we switched to Avis! Thanks Kevin!

Got a car with Expired inspection sticker... received a ticket for that. Horrible customer service to get the ticket resolved.

Extremely slow service with no explanation from the customer service rep. Delays occur but some communication would be nice.

Not enough staff on hand to help the volume of customers! We've been in line for an hour and still waiting. Avis line is worse than TSA line in airport. Would not recommend. read more

It is the only car rental with the longest line ever in that whole airport!! Worst experience!!!

Would give zero stars if possible! Long line, zero customer service, was told to call back, their system was resetting. We walked over to National instead!!! My time is money!!! read more

Car we received was excellent. However, the wait in line was very long. We arrived early evening on July 24th. It took us one hour in line before we could get to the counter and get our car. There were not enough agents to handle the volume. Granted that the weather was not great and a number of flights had been delayed. However, in their business as an airport car rental agency, they should be able to track the situation and adjust their staffing as needed. We noted that the other companies did not have lines. read more

All of the Avis services were great, from getting the shuttle to returning the car. When I got on the plane, I realized that I had left a small purse, with my wallet and cellphone, in the rental car. I assumed that everything was gone, but when I called Avis they found my belongings and arranged for delivery. Everything including the cash was in my wallet! Very impressive! read more

Prepaid $850 for a car a week before my trip. Flew into Boston via LA on a redeye flight Sunday morning. Got in and out pretty quick, returned my car two weeks later... no problems. I pull up my credit card statement a couple hours ago and there is a new $600 charge from the day I dropped off the car. I call AVIS to find out why they charged me again and am notified that I purchased an additional $600 in insurance when I picked up the car! I ask the representative WTF? I did not purchase additional insurance! He says they will deduct 25% because it was a misunderstanding - I say NOPE, he then offers to split it with me 50/50 - I say HELL NO! Let me speak to your supervisor... Supervisor informs me in a very matter of fact way that I signed for the total so there is nothing they can do short of a 50% deduction in cost due to misunderstanding. I of course loose it and tell her I am disputing this with my credit card company. She just tells me that I signed for it and that's that. If I did indeed sign for it, I was suckered into by the guy at the counter. I am picking up a car after 15 hours of traveling with a 2 year old infant and a bunch of luggage. I'm positive that I declined the insurance verbally when asked. If I intentionally initialed something that said otherwise it was due to the guy at the counter misleading me. I wonder, do the counter staff get commission for selling insurance? I am convinced that it is AVIS' strategy along with unscrupulous employees that work to defraud their customers. I am currently dispting this charge with my credit card company so I will update when it is resolved. In the meantime stay away from these scum... read more

The Avis/Budget counter had five agents working and well over fifty people in line. They did not seem to care that it took more than 30 minutes just to check in. This was on a typical Wednesday evening. Almost everyone would have a reservation, so how I could Avis be surprised by the numbers? All of the other rental companies had a few customers at most waiting. read more

We rented a car from Avis at Boston Logan Airport for a week in late July 2017. When we arrived at 11 PM, the line was 30 people deep and required more than an hour of waiting. The car that we were given had a tire that had previously been damaged and plugged, and it started leaking air immediately. By the next day, the air pressure was low (18 psi), and from then onward, we had to refill the air once or twice per day. We felt very unsafe in the car and changed our plans to involve less highway driving. We called Avis roadside assistance and were told to exchange the car at the nearest Avis agency the next morning. However, all of the local agencies that we visited and called (e.g., Waltham, Framingham, Allston, Cambridge, Bedford) either had no cars or did not pick up the phone. We ended up driving all the way back to Logan airport that day, expending two more hours of our vacation time, to exchange the car. The Avis agent there was helpful and sympathetic, and promised to give us discount coupons on a future rental when we returned the car on our last day. When we arrived to return the car, however, the agent was not there and we were unable to obtain any coupons. The manager on duty, Shuk, was rude and condescending. When I told him about the many times we had had to pay for air at gas stations, he asked whether I had receipts to prove that this had happened. When I said that the tire had been defective from the beginning, he said we should have simply exchanged it right away-- ignoring the fact that it took us a while to realize what was happening, and also that we were unable to obtain a replacement car when we checked with numerous local Avis agencies. When he said he would give me a $30 discount coupon and I commented that $30 wouldn't even cover the cost of the air and new air valve caps that we had purchased, he said that our rental contract was cheap in the first place-- yet that contract was for a SAFE car, not one with a tire that would deflate to 15 psi every few hours. In the end, he failed to produce even a $30 coupon; all that we received was a cancellation of the $16.25 additional charges incurred due to various fees and surcharges. It was completely inappropriate and reckless of Avis at Boston Logan Airport to have rented us an unsafe car with a tire that was known to be defective, as evidenced by the previous repair. Any accident and injury due to the deflated tire would have been Avis's liability. Moreover, we spent several hours and a decent amount of money on constantly refilling the air in the tire, trying to locate a replacement car, and returning to Logan Airport for the exchange. We are extremely disappointed in Avis's unsafe rental practices and poor customer service. read more

Avis should be investigated for FRAUD. No rental cars available for confirmed rentals. LYING to the customers to wait WHEN THEY KNOW THEY HAVE NO CARS. Staff are trained to lie and mislead, when they could just TELL CUSTOMERS TO MAKE ALTERNATIVE PLANS (yes, we can take Ubers!). They are slow, incompetent and deceitful. If you want to have a confirmed car rental agreement, and then not get a car, and then get lied to by the staff, then Avis is the place for you. They should go to jail. read more

If I could leave a half star I would, our plane landed at 12:30, after grabbing our bags and getting on the shuttle we arrived to to avoid line very quickly. The line itself did not move, waited in line for over an hour. Once we got to the counter the girl who was helping us was very rude, rolled her eyes, chewed gum (smacked) and had 0 hospitality. It was obviously a learning day for her as you could tell she was new.. which is fine. However, there are routes she could have taken, communication to us, smile, make friendly conversation. She "booked" a car for us after waiting with her for 45 minutes. Then the car "disapeared" we also had told her 3 times we needed a GPS. Once she figured out the car situation l, she forgot to add the GPS. After it was 63$ we said forget it take it off. We go claim our car stand in the lot number she told us l, another man was also standing there in co fusion we had been double booked same car. A lady comes over to assist us, again very rude, unapologetic. Walks us to a car and says here take this one... ok... we drive out of the lot where we approached another group if people accusing us of taking the wrong car, after explaining our situation in the middle of the transaction he leaves (shift change I assume) a lady came.. and went.. and another man whom we had to explain AGAIN. At this poi t it was every employee working for this company, rude, unapologetic, no hospitality. I will never rent another car from avis based on this interaction. The company needs to train their employees to be friendly individuals, have standards. read more

If I could give negative stars I would... I have been an AVIS customer for over 15 yrs. I recently picked up a car in Boston that had 3/4 of a tank of gas as I pulled out of the rental center.. Everyone made me aware it was NOT full and assured me there was a note in my rental agreement, which there was... Upon returning my vehicle I had filled up past the 3/4 mark, $40 dollars to be exact, returned the car only to receive a $70 charge to my AMEX as I am getting on the plane. Called AVIS when I hit land again for them to tell me "too bad". They claim there was no mention of the 3/4 tank, etc.. I do have it in writing and will pursue. I will never use AVIS again.. Horrible customer service and they are liars. read more

I browsed the internet for the best rates and found that this place has the best final rate and that it was a 24/7 operation, even on labor day. However, upon picking up my car, it was nothing but up-sell and attitude. The lady kept trying to push every single item onto me and to upgrade to a bigger car, even when I explained why I needed a small car (parking in NYC). I reserve online so I don't have to go through the hassle of this. Also, the price that's listed on the website is not the true price you will end up paying, they add some hidden fees and taxes which they tell you right before you sign the agreement. This ends up costing more than the other places quoted, which I would have been more than happy to go someplace else had I known that I was going to go through such terrible service, up-selling, attitude, and sneaky behavior. They handed me the contract and tell me the spot, but don't inform you that you have to find your car and the keys are located on the outside. I sat at the curb thinking it was going to be brought to me. Garbage place, waste your money elsewhere. read more

The longest line at the airport! 1.5 hours! Rude employees. Wouldn't take time to explain anything to us. Told us one thing during reservations and a different checking in. Rent somewhere else! read more

So the journey from airport to the rental area is not the nicest (especially after a stressful bumpy flight) and the queues when you arrive after being biffed, bashed, boffed and cajoled just getting onto the shuttle bus to get there - if you've not been shoved in the road beforehand by someone trying to push their way on - can make you feel a little tetchy, even more so as this was my first time of ever using a car hire company, and I'd never driven abroad before (on the wrong-side of the road) so was feeling a little bit tense by the time I finally made it to a desk, where I was served by a lady called Linda L. Now, I'm going to be totally honest while I was waiting in the queue she looked like she was going to be a little brash and abrupt; I am so good I was taught to never judge anyone by how they appear, because she could not have been more helpful, or lovelier and she'd had to deal with a lot of people whilst I was waiting in the line to be seen. She made the whole experience a real pleasure. Collecting and returning the car was easy too; I'll definitely use again. read more

This is my first business trip to this location. The service is the same as any Avis. The staff is friendly and respectful.

All the rental count counter are clear, accept Avis BOS. Been waiting in line for an hour and a half. Why, Avis, why?

You will like this if you enjoy standing in long lines and then not getting a car. Otherwise, go elsewhere. Major, major rip off - the same car would be $800/wk there is $205-$300 elsewhere... read more

LONG line alert! Read other reviews and avoid Avis at this location. BE SURE to check the highway toll transponder equipped on vehicles. A transponder (called EZ Pass) is mounted behind the rear view mirror and you may not see it when it pops open while driving without you noticing. If it does, you will be charged for tolls and use of the transponder. Avis has by far the longest line at at this particular airport rental car center compared to the other vendors which share the location. Read other reviews and you'll see that there is a pattern. I should have checked... 25 minutes after joining the line, only half the people in front of me have been served. Avis is should start handing out tickets with numbers on them like DMVs do. I ended up getting a rental car some 45 minutes after waiting in line. No word of apology was offered by an irritable clerk. Do yourself a favor and avoid Avis at this location even if you have to pay a slightly higher rate elsewhere. read more

Worst experience. The wait at 10pm was over an hour and a half. To make things worse, it appeared that some of the staff ended their shift further reducing the number of available stations. Each person took 15 minutes at the counter once they finally got there. Most people pre-book a rental car so I cannot understand what takes so long when you finally arrive at the counter. The staff was not friendly, quite the opposite.
