We stopped by the park after dinner but discovered the giant field of wildflowers in the back, which made the visit a lot more memorable. The flowers are gorgeous and there are so many spots for photo opportunities. I saw 7 groups of people taking photos and they were pretty spaced out. There are paths you can walk between the flowers so you don't step on them if you want to walk in. I'm not sure how long the flowers are blooming but definitely check out soon!

There are trails as well as paved paths for walking and jogging enthusiasts. The trails do not have much of an elevation change, but they are immersive enough to where you feel like you are in nature. In the midst of one of the trails, you can see the platforms and zip lines associated with the Go Ape Adventure Park. There is a part of another trail that has a beautiful wooden deck that is very peaceful and is akin to other parks I've experienced in Japan and Hawaii. So, if you like changes of scenery, Oak Point is a great option- it's a chameleon in that way. There are restroom facilities that are well maintained located by the large pond as well as ample parking. As far as variety of landscapes and well maintained grounds, Oak Point is definitely a terrific option for outdoor activities in DFW.

The park is located in the Rolling Ridge Estates in Murphy, Texas 75094. Given the size, location and the fact that it was built as a neighborhood park this is not a place you want to load up your kids and dogs and drive 30 minutes fighting DFW traffic to come see and spend time at. Don't get me wrong... this is an absolute great park deserving of the five star rating I have given it but it is a park for the local community and service people for the neighborhood. As a Murphy Texas dog walker I love the park and it is perfect for dog walkers and pet owners. It would also be great for baby sitters or children care-takers that are providing services to one of the homes in the neighborhoods. Absolutely, the neighborhood community should be spending some quality time here. If you are considering buying a house in the DFW area you should factor in your buying equation this awesome park. But, with all that being said, it is primarily an awesome local neighborhood resource. Love the large pavilion with multiple picnic table, bbq grill and electric outlets. Plenty of benches well placed by the water and along the .38 mile walking path which surrounds the park. An awesome walking path for your fur babies of all ages and sizes. It has two shaded playgrounds (a must when dealing with the Texas summer sun), an open swing set, a rocker, baby swing set and two water drinking fountains. The pond is beautiful and fishing makes for a good way to pass the time of day here. Be sure to check out the photographs as they paint a much better picture of this park than I do. If you are in the neighborhood you owe it to yourself to check it out and spend some time here.

There are benches at regular intervals if you want to give your feet a rest. We saw many squirrels while on the trail and many tortoises in the creek. It's a nice place to enjoy nature and rejuvenate. There is very limited parking and I don't remember seeing any restrooms in the park. It's a dog friendly park. Dogs need to be on leash and please clean up after your pups.

Here's why: Some maintenance work is needed as reflected in the photographs (especially the 1/2 basketball court) and when comparing it to some other City of Murphy Parks it just didn't seem fair to give it a 5 star rating. Wish I could have given it a 4.7 rating but Yelp doesn't permit fractional rating. This 2002 quaint park is located next to Boggess elementary school which helps contribute to the popularity and usage of the younger Murphy population I am sure. It has two shaded playgrounds (much needed during a Texas Summer), swings, a pavilion with BBQ grill (can reserve through City of Murphy Parks & Recreation @ 972-468-4444), electricity, a half basketball court, drinking fountain, backstop, open fields and a .34 mile cement walking loop trail. It is a well landscaped and maintained park. In short, this awesome resource is a must place to spend some time for the neighborhood, pet fur baby owners and dog walkers/pet sitters like me. There are tons of parks all throughout DFW to get your long run on. If you are up north in suburbia and are looking for a place to get your miles in, I highly recommend coming here! It's nice and peaceful and quiet plus safe and options for potty breaks in the area. The trails are beautiful and well kept and the residents are friendly! I recommend parking in the main park area where they have designated the public to park and start your run from there. Great sunrise views off of the creek and you can run throughout the neighborhood trails since it goes around the city. It's fairly flat but there are some opportunities for elevation if you venture out. If you are just looking for a safe park/playground you may bring the fam here too and I do think there is a pavilion. But there's tons of shade for the run and lots of fun fact/history out there about the park as well. Enjoy and keep on supporting local!

According to the map, it looks like it goes far south into Plano. Very quiet. Only saw a couple families walking, jogging, and riding bikes. We did come on a Friday morning though. It hasn't rained in awhile so the creeks are low. All paved, a couple bridges. I saw some wildlife too: squirrels, hawks, and egrets. We came in January so all the leaves had fallen off trees. I bet it is a sight to see during spring when everything blossoms. However, I imagine it being very hot during summer since there is no coverage throughout the path. Overall, nice, paved trail. Extremely well maintained.

The largest lot should be rotated so the large dogs can have more room to run and some shade trees. There are no shade trees where they keep the large dogs. It's boring it's just big piece of grass we have to watch where you step. I've contacted the management and said why don't you put some trees in there if you're not going to allow the large dogs in the big lot? And they have all kinds of strange governmental excuses. Last year they said they were going to build some type of a cover inside the lot but never did.

There's only one small parking lot with 7 SPOTS available for the park, and they were all taken by others. We had to park our cars at Chick-fil-a and walked across the street just to get to the park.
