In short, it is a great neighborhood park in the 75094 zip code area. It was updated and improved in 2010. The park has a brick gazebo pavilion with four 8-foot long picnic tables, a large BBQ grill and electric outlets. Be sure to check out the shaded playground area, sandy volleyball court, drinking water fountain, 31 trees, basketball court and lots of benches scattered around and one picnic table by the volleyball court. For dog walkers like myself, bikers, joggers and fur baby owners there is a 0.2 mile cement trail loop for lots of fun and exercise. Thinking about moving to the Aviary Subdivision in Murphy, Texas? There are trails as well as paved paths for walking and jogging enthusiasts. The trails do not have much of an elevation change, but they are immersive enough to where you feel like you are in nature. In the midst of one of the trails, you can see the platforms and zip lines associated with the Go Ape Adventure Park. There is a part of another trail that has a beautiful wooden deck that is very peaceful and is akin to other parks I've experienced in Japan and Hawaii. So, if you like changes of scenery, Oak Point is a great option- it's a chameleon in that way. There are restroom facilities that are well maintained located by the large pond as well as ample parking. As far as variety of landscapes and well maintained grounds, Oak Point is definitely a terrific option for outdoor activities in DFW.

Here's why: Some maintenance work is needed as reflected in the photographs (especially the 1/2 basketball court) and when comparing it to some other City of Murphy Parks it just didn't seem fair to give it a 5 star rating. Wish I could have given it a 4.7 rating but Yelp doesn't permit fractional rating. This 2002 quaint park is located next to Boggess elementary school which helps contribute to the popularity and usage of the younger Murphy population I am sure. It has two shaded playgrounds (much needed during a Texas Summer), swings, a pavilion with BBQ grill (can reserve through City of Murphy Parks & Recreation @ 972-468-4444), electricity, a half basketball court, drinking fountain, backstop, open fields and a .34 mile cement walking loop trail. It is a well landscaped and maintained park. In short, this awesome resource is a must place to spend some time for the neighborhood, pet fur baby owners and dog walkers/pet sitters like me. Nice place to spend time with your family (2 legged and 4 legged family members). Check it out!

There are tons of parks all throughout DFW to get your long run on. If you are up north in suburbia and are looking for a place to get your miles in, I highly recommend coming here! It's nice and peaceful and quiet plus safe and options for potty breaks in the area. The trails are beautiful and well kept and the residents are friendly! I recommend parking in the main park area where they have designated the public to park and start your run from there. Great sunrise views off of the creek and you can run throughout the neighborhood trails since it goes around the city. It's fairly flat but there are some opportunities for elevation if you venture out. If you are just looking for a safe park/playground you may bring the fam here too and I do think there is a pavilion. But there's tons of shade for the run and lots of fun fact/history out there about the park as well. Enjoy and keep on supporting local!

The largest lot should be rotated so the large dogs can have more room to run and some shade trees. There are no shade trees where they keep the large dogs. It's boring it's just big piece of grass we have to watch where you step. I've contacted the management and said why don't you put some trees in there if you're not going to allow the large dogs in the big lot? And they have all kinds of strange governmental excuses. Last year they said they were going to build some type of a cover inside the lot but never did.

My daughter and I went on a lot of off the main path to be more adventurous, it was great! There is all ages of people that were here, people walking their dogs, riding bikes (which was annoying) if you're walking/jogging on the main path. The view is great!! We did a hour adventure and clocked it almost 3 miles! This would not be good for the summer, would be too hot! Also there is paths that have no warning that if you go down them it goes to apartments, which suck because of you haven't ever been you have to come all the way back should be a sign that says to apartments (dead end). That was the downfall. But to get away and enjoy outdoors, this is a great place!! Even see all kinds of wildlife, my daughter pointed out a red tail hawk it was cool. With all the rain we could not go to more off paths because it was muddy and wet. So we want to come back and go on them! Plus just to come back to escape the world of being inside. We don't have any reason for, but we just don't want to. But it's so good looking lots of different species. I've actually saw species type of bug there. It was so beautiful. I even had a butterfly land on me one time I didn't want to move or scare away because it was so pretty.
