Great food! I shared carrot cake pancakes and they were perfect. My skillet was delicious and the chicken sausage they used is the kind I like...apple chicken sausage. The egg whites were fresh... everything was fresh. I think I made a new mimosa though... Try a Blueberry juice mimosa. Service was really good and I hope the ladies got the tip! read more

Their version of avocado toast is disgusting and it's terrible to see what they did with something that was so good avocado and bread with onion tomato and I think it was feta cheese. It is terrible what they have done to the food at this place. I used to go here all the time now I will never go there and the management is full of jerks. They act like everybody is trying to get over on them when the reality is they are trying to get over on everybody, I have no idea what the slop was so they put on top my avocado toast first, they creamed all the avocado and put it on bread and took a whole bunch of crap and put it on there didn't even ask if I wanted it and when I sent it back, they did not even discount it and I have no problem paying for what I order. I have a problem paying for crap on a plate. Very disappointing. I will never go here again. read more

I just had the worst experience I have ever had frequenting this restaurant. My servers name was Connie. Didn't tell us what her name was when she came to the table. The only reason I know her name is because it was on our check. We ordered avocado toast as an appetizer and the bread was barely toasted. Maybe slightly around the edges. Then we start to notice that several tables around us (3) were getting their meals before us who arrived after we got there. I asked why and Connie simply said "theirs came out first because it was only eggs" - LIE. I could clearly see that a table of 6 and a table of 4 had more than eggs (I'm not blind) clearly got their food before us. A few minutes later, she comes out with our food. I would have been ok at that point and let it slide if everything was brought out together. I ordered chilaquiles with my eggs on the side and Greek toast. My mother ordered an omelette with rye toast. We were missing my eggs and both of our toast. I mention it to the waitress and she says ok and quickly scurries off. About 7 minutes later she comes back with my eggs and our toast. I don't know about you, but when I order food and pay $82 for a table of 4 to eat brunch - I prefer that all the food come out together so we can eat it while it's all still hot! Never once did she ask if we wanted drink refills the whole time. She didn't ask if we wanted boxes, I asked another waitress. When I saw the check for $82 I was honestly livid. I know that going out to eat these days is NOT cheap but honestly I am tired of mediocre service. The waitress dropped the check off and as she was walking away - in passing says "pay the check on the way out" - yes I'm aware I've been here before. I go to the hostess to ask if they can send a manager over to the table. The manager who I now know as Paul, came over and I explain what happened. He says "I will go check with the server to see what happened".. But I could already tell his tone indicated that he didn't believe what I was saying and was going to verify it. He comes back and says he "looked at the cameras" after being gone for only like 3-4 minutes and says he reviewed the footage and that the waitress went right back to the kitchen and came out right away with our missed items.. (uhm no that isn't what happened) and that he would take off the charge for our eggs. So basically he called me a liar and offered to take off a charge of eggs? We didn't have a separate charge for eggs. So I said "okay I clearly will never be coming back to this f*cking place ever again" because I cannot believe he is calling me a liar. He then says "I don't appreciate you speaking to me like that and now I'm not going to remove any charges.." ok well I DONT APPRECIATE BEING CALLED A LIAR and I find it very hard to believe that you pulled up camera footage that quick and are now calling me a liar. I have been a server before and I always give people the benefit of the doubt and I always tip in cash over 20%...but this instance was different. I will NEVER COME BACK HERE. Customer service is terrible and I will NOT tolerate some 5 foot nothing short man syndrome having dude calling me a liar. DO BETTER!!!!!!!! read more

Unimpressed. First the good. The place has minimalist decor, which I absolutely love. I liked how the carried the logo into the walls and the wood pattern. Seating is very comfortable and the space breathes nicely. Our server was very good and service overall seemed smooth for being opening week. No complaints there. I have to say that pricing did not seem out of whack to me. I wonder where people who complain about prices eat. McDonald's perhaps? Worth mentioning: the coffee is bold. I live for this so I was pleased. Others may not be. My experience changed when the food got to the table. The waitress was very proactive and warned me that the skillet that I ordered had some complaints of having too many chips, so she offered to send a note to the kitchen to go light on tortilla chips. I took that offer and to my surprise when the order arrived it still had a ton of chips. There were two problems. First, the abundance of chips gave the dish a papier-mâché texture that I couldn't get over. Second, it was supposed to be a chorizo skillet and I was almost convinced that they swapped it for a vegetarian one. That was until I found a TicTac-sized piece of chorizo. This is not acceptable to me and I let the waitress now. She informed management and they came to the table to apologize. Again, fantastic service. Other random thought that bugged me: even after officially opening they never put their menu on social media. To this day even their own website is empty with no trace of the menu. It's almost 2020 and 12 year old kids can design and publish a website in minutes. Not cool and certainly a missed opportunity. Would I go back? Of course! It's opening week and that is never easy. Some people here do not seem to understand that. There will be issues for sure, but it's all about how they are addressed. Management seemed very receptive to feedback so I will give them a few months and return. For reference my top place in NWI right now is Harvest Room in Munster, which is what I compare them to. read more

AVGO - "Chorizo" skillet (it was TicTac-sized) - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Saint John, Indiana

Today is my birthday and will be dining all day. Let's begin with breakfast! Got here around 9 and there was a short wait. The restaurant is in an old bank and the interior is spacious with minimalist decor. We came at a good time because people started filing in after we arrived. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs over easy and a side of natural sausage links. Wife ordered the gypsy skillet. At first glance, I wasn't impressed with the presentation as the sausage in the gravy came in square chunks giving the impression that it came pre-made. However, after trying the food, my mind was changed. The biscuits are homemade and perfectly made - soft and consistent on the inside. The gravy was tasty without being too greasy. The sausage links were slightly crispy on the outside and warm and flavorful in the inside. Everything tasted better than expected. The service was good. No issues here. Only minor complaint is that the coffee was a bit too strong for my liking. Wife liked it. Will definitely be back to try the skillet as the wife enjoyed hers. read more

Probably the best place in the area. Everything we ate was great and looking at the others in restaurant they all enjoyed. The omelette was perfectly cooked, the crepes so fresh. And you to try the biscuits and gravy. Great job Paul! read more

First time coming to AVGO. Here are my thoughts: Vibe: modern dinner/with minimalist Cost: Medium - 10-$15 but portions are HUGE My favorite: Viva Mexicans (Chorizo Omlette with guac) Very good and comes with hash and tody/pancake. Love the greek toast I will be back for breakfast. Lunch menu seems limited. Service was good and friendly. read more

The portions are almost two big but for the price it's amazing and also it's like two meals in one

Great breakfast menu. The food was amazing, service was great. Don't let the wait scare you: you'll be seated much faster than you think.

Ordered lettuce wraps. Horrible they used the wrong type of lettuce and it did not hold up to the meat. I know lettuce wraps are messy but these were not edible. I had to steal some my wife's bread from her club sandwich to eat it. Waitress thought it was funny that the lettuce was wrong wilted and old read more

AVGO is the trendy new brunch spot that The Region needed. My mom and I came on a Wednesday at noon and it was full of people. The interior is bright and beautiful and there is a lot of open space. I love breakfast foods and the Bad Wolf skillet was extremely filling. They've got a bar with beer and cocktails if that's what you're interested in, so there's a little something for everyone. read more

We love this place! We went on a Sunday around noon and we waited about 35 minutes for a table of 8. The place is pretty busy on the weekends but it's expected with how good it is. They are organized and have a system that works so you won't feel like the wait is long. Our waitress was very attentive and super nice. The mimosas are great! Coffee is strong. We had a variety of breakfast items and one lunch item and there were no complaints from anyone. Everything was delicious, cooked well and fresh. read more

The food is first rate and the service is great! This place has quickly become a go to for my wife and I! The ambiance is amazing as well!

Service was great, food came out hot, quickly and correctly. We have never needed/wanted to go boxes for breakfast, but today we did. Nice atmosphere. We decided to try AVGO out on our way to Schererville to do some shopping, but we all agreed we would go out of our way just to eat here because of how good everything was. read more

This place is great, a bit pricier but that is expected for a more "upscale" breakfast place. I think a place like this was defiantly needed in the area and I would recommend trying it out! The staff is very nice from what I experienced. The coffee is also very good, I didn't ask what it was but I enjoyed it. I also love how they left the pot at the table so I could pour as soon as I needed a warm up. Disclaimer: I am vegan so I cannot really fully judge the dishes. The menu does not have anything specifically vegan but I was able to do a veggie skillet with no cheese and no egg. The food is great, nothing super "groundbreaking" or different than what you'd expect in my opinion, but the vegetables on my dish were fresh and the flavor was pretty good. Partners eggs Benedict were "really good" read more

The staff was very accommodating and sweet. We asked to sit in a table outside, but once it got too windy, they gladly switched us to a table inside. The portion sizes are also very large, so you get plenty of food. Otherwise, this place was fairly mediocre. The waffles were just okay, not as fluffy as I would have liked. The chicken was definitely just frozen chicken tenders. The honey sriracha was a great topping but there simply was not enough of it. But if you're in the area looking for an affordable brunch place with pretty decor and large portions, Avgo is the perfect place. read more

AVGO has great food and service! I've only been twice but it's a nice little restaurant.

Will never return. Went for brunch and was severely disappointed in the management. We ordered mimosas and were going to get a second round when the waitress told us about the mimosa set, which came with orange juice, fruit, and sparkling wine in a bucket of ice. We noticed after we had already drank from the orange juice bottle (the clear glass bottle with Avgo printed on it, which the water used to be served in) that there was mold on the lid. We informed the short guy who is frequently at the hostess stand, who is part owner/ management and he didn't even apologize. He just swiftly took the bottle and cap, and said he would get us another one. He didn't even return back with another bottle of orange juice. He sent the bartender to bring it back without the lid, placed it in the bucket, and walked away. Again, never apologized or gave any sort of explanation. When going to pay, we addressed how unhappy we were with the mold in the orange juice bottle. He proceeded to argue that it was tea, and that the bottle was only used for tea in the past. Tried to deny they used to serve water in them. Never said sorry still, and didn't offer to take anything off the bill. The way this was handled was disgusting. It's gross regardless if it was mold or dirty tea-we should not have been served our orange juice in that container, and we ingested it. It definitely seems like whenever something is wrong they are ready with anything BUT accountability. An apology should have been given and something at least offered in reparation, not fighting with the customer. read more
