Been using Aveda products for about 15 years. And for the most part I've had pleasant experiences at most locations. So I had a pick up order at the Columbus Circle. location. Why do a pick up. Because I'm on lunch and have limited time . So I walk in, say I have a pick up and proceeded to wait, and wait and wait and wait for my order. No one was in the store btw. Instead of processing my order and let me go on my way, the associates are in lively conversation. I just stand and wait. I get annoyed but finally get my order and quietly turn to leave and I get a loud "Have a nice day"! Really! Felt like a last dig to me. Exactly what did I do ? I came in and respectfully asked for my order. No wonder no one was in that store. Thankfully there are other locations with associates with better attitudes. read more

Most people know about their products...queue the high pitched voice saying, "Love them." So here I was shopping at Columbus Circle and I wander into Aveda, a friendly salesperson approaches asking me if I needed help, well I told him, I ran out of this, and I'd like to try that, and ohhh that looks good too. But, alas I'm from Chicago and I really don't need to pack, carry and check my bag to go home. So drats, I'll need to run to Aveda to pick the stuff up when I get home. Well he said, not so fast if you spend 50 bucks, we'll ship it to you for free. I was in on that deal. Surprisingly, the package almost beat me home, I was on the last UAL flight on Wednesday and it was delayed, I got home 10:45 that night, my package arrived Thursday morning, for all I know it was on the same flight as me. Love the products, love the customer service too! When I can take care of something when I'm on the road because I happen to fall upon it, and not have to do it when I get back, yes that's convenient for sure. read more

I stopped into buy a hair product that's know as "lady killer" aka composition oil for men. The two most beautiful and profession women who said it was discontinued(why I still can't figure out?!) well they saw the disappoint in my eyes. So they found a free hood size sample in back and gave it to me. I am forever a return customer. They wouldn't even let me buy them coffee! Shop here folks it's worth the trip. Kate at the Columbus Circle Aveda store in New York City, NY is amazing. I had the wrong shampoo and different type of conditioner, which made my hair look over moisturized and limp. 1st I should begin by stating i'm a huge Aveda supporter and it makes it even more of a pleasure when you go to the store and the staff is friendly. I've tried just about every product 90% perfect and the remaining just don't work for my hair type. During my cancer days I still continued using Aveda both my Drs & Hairdresser were impressed with the healthiness of my hair. read more

I needed new shower gel, something that would not dry out my skin as it is winter and the Lush product I had been using was leaving my skin painfully dry. I was skeptical as Aveda (and Lush, I know) seemed "mass produced," but I was desperate. The salesgirl did not steer me wrong! I walked in there stating I needed their MOST moisturizing body wash. She suggested the cherry almond. I bought the medium size (one size larger than travel) and have been extremely surprised by how much I like it! It is moisturizing and non-irritating to my skin. The salesperson spoke knowledgeably about the product and she was right, for me. Very happy with my purchase. The scent is surprisingly delicious, with a hint of spice! Also, now I know they sell travel sizes if I need any for a flight. read more

Aveda products fill many a slot in my daily maintenance routine, and this outpost is almost always where I stop to get them - and no, it has nothing to do with its proximity to Bouchon Bakery. I use the Be Curly leave in conditioner and occasionally the Rosemary Mint bar soap. There's something aromatherapudic (that's definitely not a word...) in all of the Aveda products - it's a distinct smell but a good one. I bet it's addictive, which is why I keep coming back... If you register with them, you get a free bottle of moisturizer on your birthday! Oh, I second Susan's recommendation to get the tea, it's quite delicious, and they sell it by the jar. read more

I have to say aveda online makes it hard to go in the store when they have the same promotions in store, online but I'm so glad I decided to stop being lazy and make it in to the Columbus circle store. Kate was so sweet and patient with me as I restocked my necessities. I also did a scalp/hair test and a freaking mini facial for free(the best part!)!! No, actually the best part was that she listened to me! She actually heard and understood my concerns (especially with this season changing) and made good recommendations. But I honestly couldn't afford all the recommendations so she gave me samples, which once they run out will be getting a full size of. If it weren't for her attention to details (and patience) I definitely would've missed the opportunity to try new products that I need for changing weather. Thank you so much Kate! read more

I'm a long time Aveda customer and went in today to pick up my tourmaline exfoliating cleanser. Given that there are two lines that have similar green packaging I was struggling to find it. The sales associate was asking me questions to attempt to help initially directing me to the Botanic line which I knew wasn't right. I found a tourmaline product in the center display with a sign saying "while supplies last" so I asked her if the line was discontinued. She launched into an explanation about how this has been combined with the Botanics line but it was "all the same". How can it be the same if you combine two different lines? I grabbed the sample to check and mistakenly took a new bottle not the tester. The sales associate berated me and angrily took the bottle from me. I've never had such rude treatment in an Aveda store. If they are discontinuing a product line that has almost the same packaging it makes sense customers are confused so they should be prepared to help. I won't be back. Sorry Aveda. You've lost a customer and I'll be contacting you directly to complain. read more

Stellar and amazing customer service. Some of the best I've ever gotten, and all in an Aveda store! I ventured in looking into Invati products for my mom and seeing some new products for myself. I had a coupon for the sample size trio of Invati and the woman helping me was more than pleased to give me an overview of Invati and give me the samples. In addition, she helped me find products for myself! Best part - before I left, she asked me if I wanted a free hand massage - for no reason! I didn't even buy anything. I was running late for a volleyball game but could not resist, so I said yes. Amazing. My hands were soft and I felt completely stress free. I was also offered some tea by another employee. If you continue to use their products, make sure to get your personal information for free stuff during your birthday. I did not know this until my second visit *sad face.* read more

I find myself in this area often enough, and dropped by the Aveda store one day since I'd been considering finally buying better products for my face than the ones I had been buying at Target. I wound up getting facewash, toner, and moisturizer here and I love them. My skin is so much better off now. The moisturizer for all skin types is the best - it's lightweight, but still gives me enough moisture even in the winter when my skin is freaking out because of the heat being on too strong everywhere. Also they encourage you to bring back the empty bottles when you are finished with the products to recycle them. I like coming to this location - all the ladies who have helped me here have been very helpful. They always seem to be giving away something, like a hand or shoulder massage, and a sample of their tea. I like that it's in this mall because, as others have said, it's right near Bouchon, and after I get a shoulder massage at Aveda I make my day even better with a caramel macaron. read more

I went in with a friend to just check it out. The sales associates were friendly but didn't know too much about the products. I prefer someone ask me about my skin or hair before just showing me products that are new or popular. We each ended up returning our purchase because they didn't work out for us, that was another awkward slightly rude situation. I do love their dry shampoo so I'll stick with that for now, probably won't be shipping there again. read more

"Awanta" i came in here for some random "on the mobile phone talking to someone and didn't want to be in the chaos of Time Warner Center" reason. The customer service was amazing. The sales girl was not only forgiving of my mobile phone rudeness but she stuck with my while I perused products! Not to forget the fact that I wasn't even interested in ANYTHING there and I left with a men's hair product that she gave me a wicked big sample of. I've never thought about this brand until I actually took it home. (we all have our favourites and routines) I went back and not only bought that product but an awesome lip balm as well. With Sephora right upstairs this joint has some serious competition. That being said they have got a great grip on it. read more

Went in to pick up a few small items before a work trip. Previously, really liked shopping in this little Aveda shop (& was a regular) but yesterday both employees were behind the counter and didn't come out from behind it to talk about the different lines or help pick out what I needed. I ended up accidentally buying the wrong type of product because they never explained anything and I didn't realize it until I got home. I called them for help and the manager offered no solutions. Am now stuck with an overpriced item and without hair conditioner on a week-long trip. Really unhappy. read more

I was visiting NY this past summer, where I used to live when I went to NYU for college, and wanted to stop by as I was already doing other shopping in the Time Warner building, which I love. I saw they were offering several different complimentary services for prospective customers to check out. (Huge sign displayed at their window front.) One was 5 minutes long, one was 20 minutes long. I asked the woman behind the counter if I could experience the 5 minute session, thinking that would be a low committal offering from them. She asked me if I was familiar with the products, I said somewhat, then huffed and said, "these offers are only for people who don't know Aveda products" immediately judged me, assumed I wouldn't purchase anything, and essentially refused to give me a session! I couldn't believe how RUDE she was! It was totally shocking. I have been using Aveda products off and on for 20 years! I left out of there in such disbelief and eventually made my way to the J. Crew downstairs where I was treated with total kindness and respect. I ended up getting my husband a gift from J. Crew instead and supporting their business. They could have had mine at Aveda but that completely rude woman ruined it! I would appreciate some acknowledgement from the store manager about what happened to me. i, like many new yorkers, frequent the corner drug store for our monthly supply of beautifying needs: shampoo, conditioner, etc. things that make us feel clean and smell nice. i never had an issue with the shampoo and conditioner i used. my choice for shampoo and conditioner of the month were highly dependent on the sales the local drug store was having at the time. the moment i had the epiphany that my choices were not only unbecoming and possibly "damaging to my hair" was when my friend who stayed the night over refused to use my hair care products. yelling from the shower, "do you have any other products besides dove volumizing shampoo?" i replied sheepishly, "no but the shampoo gives me such volume, it's great!" i didn't hear another peep after my comment. suffice to say, said friend stepped out of the shower, hair completely dry as the sahara desert. that was when i ventured to the aveda lifestyle store. i stepped in this wonderfully smelling store and i just wanted to linger around all day...hoping that when i finally left the store, the wonderful smells would be infused in my skin, my hair, my clothes. seeing i was lingering too long, that's when the woman with the tray of tea came by professing her help. frankly the tea is not that tasty. it has a weird after taste. i enjoy a good cup of tea but the aveda tea is not a good cup of tea. i left with the "shampure" shampoo and conditioner and some freebies...samples of hand cream. after two weeks of using my new shampoo, my hair has never felt softer or smelled nicer. i love it! every morning sleepy eyed and standing under the hot shower, i inhale deeply from the shampoo bottle. i think i'm addicted. read more

Hello I'm a frequent overseas visitor that has been coming to this location for several years. I came in on New Year's Day and also on 1/12/20. Today was a special day because not only was I flying back to my home country but I experienced the best customer service once again by Fatima since I have been back to this location. Fatima not only greeted me with a warm smile but with the amazing comforting tea. Not only did she help me get my items but recommended the new line as well and made extra samples for my travel. She was alone at the time and while other customers came in managed to help everyone and myself. She suggested skin care products and of course gave me samples to try. I'm used to the previous manager Sarah who recognizes me once I'm in and sadly not there. But Fatima has made my day twice on two occasions of my visit. Such a warm beautiful soul. Also informed me she's new to the location. Kiddos Aveda for having a star. Hoping to see Fatima on my next visit back and try skin care as well. read more
