Mike runs AV Electric, and to say he's a great electrician is honestly an understatement. He's an amazing human. He's worked with everyone in the music industry (not naming names, but everyone), so whether you need a studio, a full house, a spa--he's your guy. But the reason I'm writing this review isn't just about his stellar work. After many years of being lucky enough to call Mike my electrician, today I got to call him a superhero. Now look, please don't expect this kind of thing if you're a new client--but today I had a total catastrophe (non-electric--think delivery truck chaos threatening to take out trees and possibly my house), and Mike, seeing me majorly panicking, stepped in and saved the day. No hesitation. He's a problem-solver extraordinaire (and really strong!!). He's also just a really proud dad and husband, and that energy shows in everything he does. I don't mean to sound cheesy, but you want this human on your team. If you're lucky enough to book him, you won't regret it. The only way to get these guys to do anything is to text them constantly. They have this fancy scheduling system on their website, but apparently don't know how to use it. I had called in December for someone to fix the power going to my dishwasher. And also look at electric in my entire house. No response. Called back a month later and started texting with owner, Mike. He was quite surly and rude and when I mentioned nobody ever got back, he said something very snarky in response. Said he'd contact his crew and see when they were available. Then ghosted. Still never heard back. Terrible customer service. Don't use this business. So incredibly rude. Finding responsive and honest professionals is a challenge, but Michael was truly impressive. I called him at 8:30 pm on a Friday night and he got back to me promptly. He texted me again in the morning and kept me apprised of his timing. When he showed up and was able to diagnose the problem as non-electrical based on information we had gathered he referred us to the proper professional to help us and left WITHOUT CHARGING US! Mike found time on a Sunday to stop by and give us an estimate on replacing my grandfather's old screw-in fuse box with circuit breakers at his house in Woodstock, NY. He also ran wires for the dryer and attached an outlet hose through the basement. Before starting the work, he explained everything in detail that he needed to do for the job. He came when he said he would, and did wonderful work that we are very pleased with. You can find someone to work cheaper, but in my opinion, you're better off with AVE, because they know what they are doing. He had to reschedule once because there was a storm and he needed to help people who lost power. I feel very comfortable recommending this business. After having solar panels installed in September 2018, NYSEG came to install a new solar meter. Unfortunately, they didn't seal it properly and water came into our basement, leaking onto our electrical panel, causing a small bit of corrosion. We were told of this leakage at the end of October by a crew replacing our HVAC system, but they installed the system and didn't think there would be a problem. Famous last words. Over Thanksgiving, our HVAC system went down because of electrical issues, and we were without heat (as it turned out, for several days). We made calls to several electricians and no one got back to us (fair enough as it was a holiday). By the Wednesday post-Thanksgiving, we were desperate and worried that if the weather got too cold, our pipes could freeze. We found AVE on Yelp and Angie's List with good reviews so we called Mike and explained the issues we were having and that we needed a new box installed as soon as possible. He was EXTREMELY responsive. Mike came the next morning (Thursday). He did a great job, finished the install in the timeframe promised, at the price quoted. Not only that but he's a really nice person to boot! We had seen the review from June of this year about him being "incredibly rude" and "unprofessional" so, of course, that gave us a little pause (but the other reviews were so glowing so we figured anyone can get a bad review and gave it the chance...). We experienced NOTHING like that bad review. We are THRILLED that we've found a local electrician for upcoming projects. We now consider Mike to be "our guy" and would wholeheartedly recommend him. read more

It's very difficult to find a electrician in the Catskills, let alone a skilled, professional and responsive one. I had a new stove delivered from Lowe's only to discover that my old stove was hardwired and not up to code. I needed a licensed electrician to disconnect the old stove and reconnect the new one to code. I was anxious about the timing because I had a new stove sitting in my living room, an old stove which wasn't working and a one-year-old baby that had to be fed. I placed a call to a AVE Electric in the morning and received a return call within the hour. After explaining my situation, Michael assured me that he would take care of it within 24 hours.
