Ava'a Bridal was one of my favorite experience during my wedding planning process. Sue and Tammy are the sweetest souls and SO easy to work with. After a not great experience at a place I won't name, I stumbled upon Avas bridal and decided to check it out. I was a little hesitant with having to place a deposit, and it going to "waste" if I didn't say yes to the dress, however after speaking with Sue and having my appointment, she deserves that deposit for all the work she puts in on the backend to make sure your first appointment is perfect for YOU! ( I would recommend going to other stores to get an idea of what you like first, then make Avas your second shop and place to say YES to the dress... the deposit then goes towards your dress payment!!) Sue was the most welcoming and friendly... she made my entire (large) group feel so special and that their opinions mattered. Her method of you and your party being able to hand pick your dresses (after she's already pulled some for you based on previous convos), to narrowing it down to your top 3-4, to playing "tennis" and taking plenty of pics and videos to look over and make sure your liking it from every angle..... she realllly knows what's she's doing! So smooth! I went into the appointment certain on one dress, found myself in love with two completely different dresses, and she gave me the idea to add a slit to my top dress to get the best of both worlds! Two days before we left the country for our wedding, I realized I did not get my dress bustled and reached out to Sue panicking. (Total mush brain thinking I was changing dresses so didn't need it... def did for the first dances). Sue had me drop off the dress first thing the next morning, and she personally bustled my dress in between her own busy schedule and had it finished for me by the end of the day so I could fly out bright and early Saturday. She even made a VIDEO showing me and my bridesmaids exactly how to find the buttons and bustle when we were in a crunch!!! WHAT AN ANGEL! Seriously though, I could not recommend Ava's Bridal more. The fact that you can find your dream dress and get it altered in one shop.... Such a relief!!! I brought my wedding dress in January to Ava's Bridal where I was met by Tammy who was my seamstress. Fast forward to the end of February when I pick up my dress and bring it home. When I got home I bought a steamer and steamed my dress and discovered multiple areas of damage to the dress. Within 24 hours of picking up my dress I sent them pictures of the damaged spots. Sue personally called me (which was very nice) within 24 hours of my message. She stated Tammy said the damage had been there since my first appointment back in January but didn't say anything because she assumed I knew. The first lesson I learned as an adult was never to assume. I think thats really bad business practice to not speak up about damage to a dress you will be working on. So now it's my word against the seamstress as to whether or not the damage was there or not. Sue did offer me to bring the dress back to look at it together, but at the end of the day, I have a damaged dress and I spent almost $900 to have it altered at this location. Moral of the story - look over your dress meticulously before they do any work to it, because at the end of the day it is your word against theirs. read more

ATTENTION CURVY BRIDES! I am a 5'2 curvy bride and heavy up top. My biggest fear was not being able to find a dress that 100% complimented my body type. I booked 5 wedding boutique appointments with Ava's being my 6th and last one. The difference was...not only was I consulting with a bridal specialist (like all of them are that you book your appointment with) but I was talking to a seamstress at the same time. My first and only stop to find my wedding dress. The whole experience was first class all the way. The staff is unbelievable. They are all so warm and welcoming, making you feel so beautiful. Dress shopping isn't always the easiest on your emotions and self confidence but they make you feel like the prettiest girl in the world. Our consultant took us around the entire store and explained the process. She pointed out every different tiny detail from how to tell the size, what colors they come in, and availability. It can be overwhelming with dresses lining the wall. I described what I liked, what I didn't like, the feel of my wedding, my body likes and any of my insecurities. She went to pick dresses and encouraged my sisters and mom to find some as well. Once we had more than enough dresses the trying on began. She helped clip me in, adjust and comfortably try on the dresses. Well one stood out and it was the one. She was so encouraging and when we looked at veils she told us the beautiful story about what they represent. My mom teared up and we were sold. Everyone clapped and kept telling me just how beautiful I looked. We even had a private VIP room to celebrate with cupcakes, cookies, fruit and of course champagne. This was not the best bridal experience. My sister was the bride, but I picked the place via Yelp so it was sort of embarrassing. Her budget was low (under 1500) so that's how I picked. First, the store is not in the best part of town and was not very appealing at all from the outside. The first thing my sister had to do was fill out a card of what she was looking for and all her info. Very strange, would that not just be a conversation? It's probably just for the store to keep on file for you, but still... Then it just got stupid. They had ALL 6 of us walk through the selection of dresses and pick things out for her. You can imagine the success rate of that strategy. I tried picking things I thought she would like and fit her body type, but her friends just picked out things they liked for themselves and wanted to see her try on. It's also a super great way to ruin the floor gowns. I went to a place in Houston when I got married and it was amazing - they only allowed the bride to be shown around the floor, in areas directed by the person your appointment was with, based on budget and style preferences. Further, the styles of the dresses were sort of gaudy. Only 1 stood out as "acceptable" to me. Selection was pretty small as well. My sister was not at all impressed, it was a wasted appointment, which was very upsetting to me because I live out of state and can't go to the "real" shopping day. Now she has to go by herself next time somewhere else (since her friends were totally worthless). I LOVED my experience at Ava's Bridal. When I went dress shopping, Ava's was by far the most fun. When I was there, I felt truly valued. I did not feel rushed at all. My requests, opinions, concerns, etc. were listened to and respected. Jamaie was my consultant, and she was amazing! She was professional and so fun! I also want to add that they have dresses that fit a wide span of budgets. Most of their dresses are organized by price, so it's very very easy to stay within your budget. And there is ZERO pressure to spend more money or go above your budget. That was what truly set this bridal shop apart from others. I HIGHLY recommend at least adding Ava's to your list of places to go dress shopping. Initially when I bought my dress, they told me it would take 3-7 months to come in (My wedding was in 6 months at the time). I panicked slightly and they quickly told me that no matter what they would have the dress ready in time for my wedding. The dress came in about 4 months and they altered it in less than 1 month. I also want to speak on the alterations process. It was a little frustrating because Ava's bridal only does alterations 1 day a week. They have a sister store called Classy Concepts in Mansfield that does alterations most days. So I ended up having to take my dress to their sister store to do alterations. While their alterations work was quality, it was very expensive. I felt it was overpriced, considering I did not have to have the bodice taken in AT ALL. I only had to have it hemmed, the straps taken up, and cups added. For this they initially quoted me over $500. I asked them if they would discount it, since I had bought the dress through their sister store. And they did- they knocked over $100 off the price. I'm so glad I asked! As much as it was though, the dress did fit perfectly after only one fitting! Despite the expense of alterations and they fact that they initially over-quoted me, I am still giving 5 stars because the process was smooth, my dress was perfect, and I did not have to worry about my dress being in good hands. read more

I recently got married last month in California. I went to Ava's sometime in January to look for my wedding dress with my sister and friend and Michelle was the consultant that helped me that day. I also got to meet Sue and she was nice as well. Michelle pulled a couple dresses for me and after trying on a couple, I fell in love with a Sottero and Midgley dress with style name Wyatt. Beautiful dress! They had to order the dress in my size. I got my first fitting appointment sometime in August and my dress definitely had to be hemmed because it was long on me. This is so sad. My daughter bought the floor model with promises from the store that alterations from a size 24 to a size 16 would be included. She went to get the dress and no alterations were made. Then the store proceeded to tell her it would cost $600. When she contacted the owner of the store my daughter was sent a copy of the a paragraph that stated whatever is told to you by sales people is voided after the signing of the contract. I was disappointed that this store felt cluttered and almost tacky. I would have liked a more elegant atmosphere for as expensive as the dresses were. When we first arrived, I was asked to look through and pick out the dresses that I wanted to try on, with a little bit of help from an unknowledgeable sales person (perhaps an assistant or someone new). While it was nice to be able to actually touch and pick out the dresses (many stores don't let you do this), it is challenging to know what dresses look like on and I prefer to have more direction and advice from someone that knows the dresses. Eventually, someone else did come to help me and was able to offer good recommendations of dresses to try on. The main sales associate I worked with was helpful and seemed genuinely interested in helping me find the perfect dress. Overall, the store's atmosphere was just not where I wanted to buy an expensive wedding gown. read more

I had a great experience finding my dress, Leslie helped so much and was so friendly considering I didn't have an appointment, I found the color I wanted my bridesmaids to wear that day as well. A few weeks later we all met up to pick the maids dresses out(WE HAD AN APPOINTMENT) they had the dress I wanted for everyone on file... fall wedding.. they pulled out a aqua ruffle UGLY dress and I knew it wasn't going to turn out good. Obviously a fall wedding would not be baby blue, or aqua. Once we found the right dress I picked out we were told we could pick any dress out and they could match the color I wanted an hour later we were told that was not true after everyone had tried on the dresses( We didn't get much help) the manager noticed I was looking through the dresses and came up to me and said my time was up I would have to come another time.. UM no I had an appointment they started us late, had the wrong dress, then told us the color wouldn't match after they sat there and watch us get the dresses and try them on. She calls the owner and gets her on the phone and rudely tells me there are people waiting in the front for our spot but not to worry about anyone but ourselves, which I didn't. The owner showed up talked to us told me she would give me a few discounts and the maids would get a discount. Well after thinking of how we were treated we asked for a refund for the two maids that had already bought their dresses since I wanted to go somewhere else. Never got my discounts. They made them sign some bs documents agreeing they would not leave a review or they could sue(THIS GIRL ISN'T ABOUT THAT LIFE), because that's how bad it got. That's just one thing... My dress(I'm the bride as you can tell) was finally ready for the first fitting(Yes I went ahead and bought my dress there because I was a done deal before they got stupid crazy)... big which we knew it was going to be and knew we were going to spend a ton on alterations. Sue the owner promised we would be dealing with her and no one else also that she would be the one to alter my dress. LIES! All BS Lies. The dress was ripped at the bottom, I went in there 3 times for fittings not once did I see her and the last day I was supposed to meet her there she didn't even show up, the manager ended up facetiming her so she could talk to us and tell us how she was running late and blah blah and told us we could wait for her but we were already done by then no point in waiting an hour more just to deal with more crap. The 1st fitting I noticed the dress was ripped at the bottle(This isn't freaking goodwill it was shipped from the designer... as I was told HA) then the 2nd fitting it was still ripped and we were rushing due to my bridals, during my bridal pictures my mom found 10+ pins in the dress, noticed the dress was cut at an angle..It was horrible but we didn't let that stop us from having a good time. This place has cute dresses but it's not worth the stress and bs attitudes they give. They knew this day would come to where I could leave a review and it just made my day 10x better. So my sister does not live in the ft worth area, and wanted to try bridesmaids dresses on some where besides Abilene. This was our second place to try on dresses. Not a very good experience at all. We walked in and checked in, the lady at the desk was like I thought you were here for a bridal fitting. She informed them no I'm not I called and told them it's for bridesmaids. She then told us to pick our dresses out and start trying them on. She didn't bother to help us try them on. Or help us get in the dresses. They fit me in as a walk in and it only got better from there. I've been struggling to find a dress and actually enjoying trying to find a dress. I went to so many bridal shops looking for a champagne colored dress. I was not having any luck. I even tried Ava's once before no luck with them either. After about 3 months i decided to call them again just to see if they had any champagne bridal gowns. Kelly helped me over the phone by asking what style and size gown i needed. She checked their inventory and advised me they had some available. When going into the store there were several selections to choose from. The team was great helping me find the perfect gown. They had a few gowns in the style i told them i was looking for ready for me to try on, then allowed me to look at several others. I was given selections in champagne other than the style i was looking for, just incase i changed my mind of the style i wanted. I loved that but still went with the fit and flare style. Moving forward, that day i found my dream wedding gown! The process after that was AMAZING!!! Everyone was so helpful each time I went in for fittings, accessories, or anything i needed. One day i spent a few hours in the store, because Sue the seamstress told me take my time to make sure the fit is how i wanted and to know how the gown will fit on the day of my wedding after a few hours. I was so glad i was given that time, because in those hours we found I needed a different type of undergarment for my gown. If I could give Ava's Bridal more stars I would! Ava's was only the 2nd shop I visited and I found my dress almost immediately. I didn't even have an appointment and just happened to find Ava's online. I stopped by on a Saturday and was immediately helped by Jamaie, who is the possibly the sweetest, most helpful sales person of all time. She was upbeat and helpful the entire time my family and I were there. The store itself is adorable and they have huge dressing rooms so you and your mom/sister/family/friends can hang out comfortably. They also have an enormous dress selection. I was probably there trying on dresses for 3-4 hours. The entire staff was over the top great every single time I went in. Sue was my seamstress and she is exactly what you want because you immediately trust her to make your dress perfect. I had an appt for 11:30am today. Got there a little early and was happy to wait. Soon the other two brides arrived for their 11:30am appt also, the store became crowded with over 20 people crammed into a tiny (and cluttered, messy) area in the front. I had to step outside, dresses are hanging off the shelves, no where to sit or wait. I tried to look past that in hopes of good customer service and dresses. We all waited. And waited. No one who worked there acknowledged how all these people were waiting or apologized or gave a time frame on the wait. At 11:50 we asked how much longer and were told everyone's consultant was finishing up with their 10am appts. and should be done soon. Around noon one of the people who's appt was at 11:30 was finally called to be helped. Myself (and family) and another bride continued to wait without anything being said to us. We told them we had other appointments later and need to know how much longer. A woman walked me to the back and said I can start looking at dresses. It was overwhelming. We couldn't walk anywhere without stepping on wedding dresses. I thought they were going to help me find a dress based on what I told them I like, or what's the point of filling out the form for what I like and even having a consultant at all? Once I was taken back to attempt to find something in the jungle of unorganized wedding dress mess, the woman who was to be my consultant told me she was finishing up with her client and would be with me soon. Finally, at 12:30 (an hour past my appt time and 30 min after my consultant said she was almost done) my sister saw my consultant out in the parking lot speaking with the bride she had just spent the last two hours with. So I left. It was awful. I feel bad for whoever had the 1pm appointments because at 12:30 the other bride who hadn't been helped yet was still waiting. I don't appreciate the lack of communication or consideration. As I was walking out, my consultant said she is ready for me now, I told her no thanks and have a good day. Everyone else who had an appt and waited 30-60+ minutes were also very annoyed and I am surprised they stayed especially with how small and cramped the shop is, but I hope they found a great dress. read more

They have you put in a request for an appointment to try on dresses. I put in a request 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard from anyone. They must not need the business. Wound up finding an adorable bridal shop in Burleson. It was worth the drive to be with people who appreciated the business. read more

So many wonderful things to say about this place. Ava's genuinely cares about their brides and their experience. They want you to look beautiful and do whatever they can to lessen the stress. Every person ive spoken with has perpetuated this. Theyve worked with me every step of the way. I set up a last minute appointment during a black friday sale last november and they graciously fit me in. My consultant was so sweet and encouraging and i never felt rushed. She was very concious of my budget. My mother was not and i ended up in a dress that i immediately fell in love with and went way over my price range. Even then, since i was about a year out from my wedding she helped me with a payment plan that i felt comfortable with. The tailor has been incredibly kind, helpful and mindful of my budget as well. Really listening to my concerns and suggestions about the fit and giving me educated advice. I love this place! I recommend it every time a friend gets engaged! read more

I live in Keller, so for me to have to drive from Keller to Fort Worth is a big deal. My initial reaction to the Ava's Bridal staff was that I could trust their opinions and expertise. I tried on one bridesmaid dress and placed an order the same day. TWO staff members measured my waist, bust, hips, and torso. They then preceded to pull out a chart and told me that I should order a size 14 dress. I am 5'2, with a 'B' size cup, and I usually wear a size 6. So when the sales representatives told me that I needed a 14 I TRUSTED that they knew what they were talking about. I assumed that the dress ran small and I NEEDED a dress that was bigger than my usual size. So I placed an order for a size 14. Before leaving the store, I asked the sales representative if everything was covered and I was done paying fees besides tailoring charges, the sales representative said "yes, you should be covered." A week later I received a call from the sales representative where she said "good news Isabella, we can order the dress and have it here by May! So would you like to pay the $75 now over the phone or would you like to come in and pay it?" My initial thought was "how is paying an addition $75 GOOD NEWS?!!!" We ended up paying for it. I went to the store today and let the staff know that I would like to try on my dress, for the first time, before leaving the store. They brought me the dress and immediately I noticed it was HUGE. I could've fit a whole other person in this dress with me. The representative walked up to me and acted as if everything was fine with the dress and it's look on my body. She then took in a handful of the dress in the back and said it would also need to be hemmed. I then asked her how much it would cost to have these alterations completed and how long would it take? She said "one week if you pay an express charge of $45 (and that she) wasn't a seamstress so (she) wouldn't be able to tell (me) how much it would cost for these alterations." I took me dress and left. I called back later that day and asked for the manager, I was forwarded to Sue. I explained how frustrated I was. I told her that I was going to have to spend more money getting my dress tailored because her staff members told me I needed a dress that was too big for my body. She told me that "the store isn't liable for the dress that I ordered." I then told her that I wouldn't have ordered a size 14 if her employees hadn't told me I needed one. She said that I should've "resolved all my concerns before ordering the dress." I responded with "I didn't have any concerns when ordering the dress because I trusted that your staff members would've made the right call." She asked me " what are you trying to get?" I told her I wanted compensation for the tailoring. She said "that's not going to happen." I further explained that the dress type is not a fitted dress in any place besides the bust. They ordered me a dress based on my hip size even though the dress isn't fitted in that region. She went on to say she would "help" me with the express charge if I signed a waiver stating that I wouldn't give them "any bad press." I told her that's only $45 of express charges, she said it's actually $75. This deduction still left me with a total of $101.65 of tailoring charges and two trips to Fort Worth. I told her I would think about it. I went to a different tailor and said the dress was a size 14. She said "No, not for you. You're about a 6 or an 8." She said "It would've been easier if they would've ordered you a dress that fit my bust better than my hips because letting a dress out in the hip area is easier than making the bust smaller." I tried it on and she told me that it would cost $80 to hem, and to make the top into a size 8 from a 14, and that she could have it ready in time. After all of this, I have come to the conclusion that Ava's Bridal staff members need to be better trained in how to measure a body for a specific dress. They also should take ownership for mistakes they make. I am not an expert on bridesmaids dresses and I shouldn't have to bring my own seamstress to make sure I get the right size dress. I was contacted by Sue after having time to think about it. I told her that decided to take my business elsewhere and write a review. I also told her that they could pay for the tailoring cost to make it right, but she said she couldn't do that. She then said that in her notes it said that I had "had a baby." I told her that I had lost all of my baby weight already and am still the same size that I was when they originally measured me. Honestly, I was a little offended that she was trying to find a way to blame the incorrect order on me. I also looked up a size chart on several websites. ALL of the charts, based on my measurements, indicated that I definitely shouldn't have gotten a 14. I hope that after the manager sees this post she realizes it might have just been worth it to compensate me fully and apologize for their mistake. read more
