This practice is terrible. Dr. Yee did not carry my contact brand and tried to completely change my contacts (brand / fit / strength). I emphasized that they felt like sand paper in my eyes but she didn't care. She just wanted the appointment to be over so she could go to her next one. I asked if I could try other options and they declined. There are so many good eye doctors in the area, only tried Dr. Yee because she was in my insurance network. Happily paid out of network to go back to my original eye doctor after how bad this experience was. read more

I've passed this place many times while visiting Rockfish which is right next door. I decided to drop in to look at frames for my son who wanted a different style. When I first walked in I was greeted by two kind receptionist, both offered to help pick out frames for my son based on his preferences. They were very patient with my little one who wanted to try on all the frames, but didn't want to have his eyes examined. We were able to schedule an appointment with ease so that both boys could have their eyes examined. The lobby was clean and welcoming. There were bottles of water, Swiss and German chocolate to enjoy while you wait. During the appointment Dr. Yee took the time to explain the results from the eye exams. She is very knowledgeable and offered suggestions on how to maintain the health of our eyes. When I returned to pick up my sons' glasses I was given a gift bag with glasses and eyeglass cleaning solution inside, that was a nice touch! We will definitely be back next year! read more

After doing a little research I decided to come in and give this place a shot to do my eye exam and potentially get a new pair of glasses here. First, calling in to make an appointment was a breeze and they are very friendly and patient with you. So after making my appointment I came in and the staff is amazing. Everyone is extremely nice and friendly and they make you feel very welcomed. They do a thorough job with your eye exam and explain everything to you. They also have a new machine that takes a picture of the back of your eye so that you can avoid having your eyes dilated, but just know it's not covered by insurance and will be an additional $39. After having all my initial test done with the Drs assistant I met with the doctor for my final test and she was extremely friendly as well. Explained everything to me and by the time she was done I didn't have any questions as she explained everything so well. Lastly I just needed to pick out my glasses. This process was trying however as the selection for me wasn't great as I have bigger head and they have a limited selection when that's the case, basically I had maybe 2-3 choices, but I was able to find come I really liked. Keep in mind this place is called Avant Garde and it's in Frisco so know that the glasses they carry are not cheap. Versace, Tom Ford, Ray Bans, Coach.... etc., you get the point. If your looking cost effective this place is not for you but if you want quality, fashion and great service make an appointment! My glasses got done ahead of schedule and they package them nicely and even throw in an extra glass cleaner and a cleaning spray. Amazing! read more

Have been coming to this practice since it opened, and I can honestly say I will be a lifetime patient. Dr. Yee and her staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and have earned my trust for all of my eye care needs. Ambiance: As you walk in, you will note how clean the place is. I hope you don't have sensitive eyes, because the places does truly sparkle. In addition to its cleanliness, this practice is very modern and utilizes the latest technology for your eye care needs. One example is Dr. Yee utilizes a machine to take a picture of your eye so that your eyes don't have to be dilated. No more ugly sunglasses when you leave the optometrist! Knowledge: In addition to coming in for my annual eye examination/prescription, I see Dr. Yee to treat my chronic dry eye syndrome. I thought I would have to give up wearing contacts due to the irritation/discomfort, but the contacts she put me in and the eye drops she prescribed make my eyes feel great. I also appreciated Dr. Yee walking me through just exactly what my problem was, and how her recommendations would help. Products: If you want to add a little piece of flare to your appearance, your eyewear is a great place to start, and Avant-Garde can definitely help you out with that. They carry the top designers and offer both traditional, and a little more edge products. Overall: I couldn't be happier having Dr. Yee be my optometrist. They used to be accommedating. optemetrist used to take time in explaining diagnosis, cause, effects and variation of treatment's but no longer, she in a hurry and speaks to fast, . They only have name brand frames. They don't offer any economical options. I also didn't care for the doctor. She wanted to "tweak" the vision in my right eye a tiny bit which meant that I'd have to wear a different prescription in each eye and it would affect my close up vision. I told her I'm about to have LASIK again so I'd rather stick with the same prescription and she said she couldn't do that. I wish I hadn't bought any glasses or contacts from her. I only went there because they accepted my nieces insurance and she had to see the dr too. I will definitely be going back to my previous dr and will find a new place for my niece. I'd rather pay out of pocket for my niece than to go back here. read more

I was referred to this establishment by a friend. I called to make an appointment and they gladly accepted my insurance. The office faces the Dallas North Tollway and is open and inviting. As soon as I walked in, I received a warm greeting from the staff and they were eager to listen to and answer all of my questions. Dr. Yee is professional and is very knowledgeable. Dr. Yee gave me a prescription that was so obviously wrong. I was told that it would take a couple of weeks to get used to them, so I wore them despite the poor vision. When I could finally get another appointment with Dr. Yee, she refused to replace the lens even if I got another doctor to examine me and he gave me a different prescription. By this time, I could not read the street signs, and I went back to wearing my old glasses. Dr. Yee said it had been "several months" since she did my exam, but it had been less than two months and all of that time was spent trying to get used to the new pair, or waiting for another appointment with Dr. Yee. She was HORRIBLY rude to me - arrogant and combative. Do yourself a favor. Go elsewhere. read more

Had a great experience for the past year until I recently ordered colored contacts. I've had contacts and glasses with no problem. I opened the first pair of colored contacts to use it and couldn't see with them. That's not my fault being prescribed something I can't even use. They wouldn't allow me to return or give me credit for regular contacts. Spend over $200 for nothing. Don't ever get colored contacts through them, they won't warn you. read more

I would not recommend it. The prescription changed in every visit. I went to the first time, she gave me a prescription for contact, which did not work well. They told me to use it for few days so I feel comfortable. I got a totally bad prescription and lenses are hurting so badly. I showed the second time, they gave me a different prescription. I went 3rd time they are so rash. I went again because I could not see with lenses and my eyes are red. They charged 20 dollars for each visit. They are looting money. BEWARE !! if i could give a 0 star i would. Was time for annual exam. Chose this dr. because of reviews on yelp and location. After the exam dr. yee told me I was wearing the wrong script. Her exam showed the opposite of what I was wearing. She is the dr. so I chose to believe her. Got new glasses and lenses. Was told to wear them for two months since the script had changed dramatically. During the next 2 mths she did "tweaks" to the lenses but nothing worked. After two months my vision was worse. My eyes never adjusted to this script. I couldn't watch t.v. at home. She told me I would have to look out the side of my glasses to watch t.v. for the rest of my life. Envision that. Look away from the t.v. but look in the right corner of the glasses. I didn't think this was right. Went to a different dr. and found out the script dr. yee gave me was the opposite of what it should be. Dr. yee had made a HUGE mistake with the script causing severe stress to my eyes and extreme levels of discomfort with sore and extremely dry eyes. Went to her and told her that I had proof that her script was wrong. she told me I was wrong..that hers was right and any other dr. would come up with the same script which the opposite happened. She showed no concern about my vision. She didn't offer to do another exam to make sure hers was correct since this had been going on for 2 months. I just had to take her for her word. She refused to refund me for the lenses she gave me that were VERY wrong. I had lenses that I couldn't wear and didn't ever wear again. I got the correct lenses from the different dr. and have had the best vision I can have with glasses. My experience was horrible. I would NEVER recommend her to anyone I know. If she had taken the time to listen to me and do another exam she might have found that her script was wrong but she wouldn't do it. horrible customer service and doesn't know how to deal with issues or concerns from her patients and from my experience she doesn't care. she chose to argue with me in her store in front of customers. She had my money and obviously wanted me to go away. Beware: if she ever tells you your script is "opposite" of what it should be run out and get a second opinion. I recommend frisco eye associates. They have real dr's on staff that know what they are doing and care about you and your vision. read more

This store might have tried to charge me more than they should've per my insurance plan. I spoke to the optometrist (or ophthalmologist, I don't remember) and the front desk receptionist. There were no other people in the store. The receptionist called my provider and seemed confused about what they would cover. But it seemed odd to me the way they discussed my plan benefits. The receptionist, after speaking with the provider, showed the paper to the doctor, but instead of discussing verbally how much the provider would cover, she circled the number and referred to it as "this amount." I dismissed it as just odd. Maybe my benefits are truly confusing. Next, I asked what frames would be best for my child. They pointed out the most expensive frames available, citing that they would be easiest to repair if my child broke them. Okay, maybe they're right. What do I know? I then asked what my responsibility is? She said, and I can't remember the exact amount, but around $170. Well, $170 is much more than the $40 I paid last year, but then my benefits have changed. I asked, What does the $170 pay for? The receptionist said, All of it! I asked, But what exactly is the $170 paying for? She replied again, All of it! Everything! I asked again, But what EXACTLY is the money paying for? She said, Oh, the lenses, but the frames are covered! And with the lenses you have to have the anti-glare and they're scratch resistant. (Well, I'm pretty sure that anti-glare is not necessary for my 11 year old who spends little time in front of a computer.) But, again, maybe I'm wrong. I said, Great. I made an appointment to come back and have my child fitted. On the way home, those few things were bothering me. So I stopped in at another vision center that is on my plan. I told them nothing of the visit to Avant Garde. I just walked in and started asking the same questions. Again, my benefits were confusing so the receptionist called. She said, "Okay. They're completely covered." What?? I asked, Are you sure? She said, your benefits are a little confusing so I asked specifically, what is patient responsibility, and they said $0. So I ordered my son's glasses, expecting to be told at pickup that they were confused and I did owe. I picked them up, and I wasn't charged at all. $0.00 I do not know if Avant Garde was confused or if they knew. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they were confused, but I won't be shopping there again. read more

I usually dread choosing glasses because of the lack of selection, lack of staff, or hovering and pressure from staff. Avant-Garde made the experience absolutely wonderful. I chose them because I was looking for designer eyewear and a place that would accept my insurance. Other places selling designer eyewear in the Dallas area do not accept insurance, so the individual must file. I don't want to deal with more paperwork. The staff were very helpful, patient, and treated me as their most important customer. They helped me try on many frames that fit my description and face, then set aside the potential choices. I must have had twenty "maybe" frames. They then sat down with me to try them all on again to narrow the list. The selection was fantastic. It was a little hard to make the final selection because I liked several frames from various designers. I made a choice that I am very happy with. When we checked in, my husband and I were the only patients, so it wasn't like they were busy. They were just sitting with no other patients. Jamie (the optometrist) simply rushed us during our eye check up. Firstly, she/her staff forced me and my husband in doing an eye test that is not covered by insurance, she did not even bother to explain what she was doing, why she was doing it. I had to stop her couple of times and ask her as I prefer to be well-informed of proceedings, she again did not explain what this eye test was for, and after asking her couple of times again, she disclosed that my insurance does not cover this particular test and it will cost me $ 39 - NO prior written consent, neither prior verbal mentioning of this eye test, nor prior mentioning of the extra cost of $ 39 - simply just do it without patient being aware of it. Once I declined to do $39 test, she did some visual field test (that costs $20, once again, she told me that my insurance does not cover it. As far as I know, visual field test is a part of any routine eye check up examination. I have been going to Optometrist for last 10 years and I was never ever charged $20 fee for visual field test. Once again, unprofessional and very unethical way of making extra money). Luckily, my husband figured this by the time I was done and my husband declined to do any so made up tests that is not covered by my insurance and that's not a part of routine eye check up. Then again, my husband was rushed by Jamie. For eye prescription check up, she just kept rushing us, my husband questioned her that "he's not able to see anything as the prescription determining instrument was not positioned (set up) appropriately", Jamie's reply was, "yes, it's a new technology and it just works like that. Don't worry". and she took about 2-3 minutes to give a eye prescription in our hands. I am hoping that our eye prescriptions are accurate and worth wearing for the whole year; or else Jamie, be prepared for trouble. It seemed as if it is all about money for them, patient care is the least among their priority. I hope Jamie is qualified enough to do what she is doing. Not thorough, not professional, not considerate in her approach, felt like we went to Cici's pizza or Little Caesar's with an expectation of CPK. I Will never ever recommend anyone to visit you. Very off putting. All glasses are locked up individually. If you don't know exactly what you want do not go here. My adult daughter and I were both looking for frames and two salespeople just stood on top of us even though everything was locked up. Not very friendly so we immediately left. read more
