Excellent service and food; my family and I had the chicken souvlaki, Avalon platter, lentil soup, falafels and a chicken wrap. All tasted great and they have gluten free wraps which is a huge plus for me. The cashier was knowledgeable and super sweet, she also brought our food very quickly to the table for us. My only gripe is they use Styrofoam for their plates, bowls and cups, I wish it was paper or at least something that biodegrades. Overall, I would eat here again and highly recommend. read more

Delicious fresh food! Everything is well seasoned. Great service. They did redid the eating area and it looks great.

Great owner and thrilled that they have gluten free options. The 5% coupon that yelp offers will not be taken. The owner claims that yelp did not ask permission to add coupon. Still great prices and happy to come here! :-) read more

I've heard so much about Avalon Pockets and decided to give it a try for the first time today. Could not be any happier!!!The food is delicious, the wait is minimal, the prices are more than reasonable. I absolutely love the service. The owner, an older gentleman, is extremely friendly & caring. I tried the sampler platter and didn't find anything I didn't enjoy. Definitely will be coming back!! read more

Great gyros, very local, and non chained Owned. The people working the place are very friendly and outgoing. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good gyro. read more

We had the gyro sandwich and the gyro platter. We thought the meat was really greasy. Salad dressing was very oily. It just wasn't the best overall. Service was fine and we got the food pretty quick. The place looked clean and well kept. read more

Food was good although the gyro's are small and service is slow. They are a new addition to AP and I hope they work out the kinks sooner than later! read more

Services were fast and food was great. Mediterrenean chips are awesome as well as baklava. Its nice to see something different than hamburger shop or pizza place in Avalon Park. read more

Came here a few times with friends who say it's the best. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. The owner runs the cash register and is always friendly. Eventually he learns your name too! The Falafel is really good and you can have it in a sandwich or on their own so it's easy to share. Pita bread is good and the hummus is fresh. All the food is really fresh and delicious. And with the 5% off right now it's even better. Great place to come for Middle Eastern Food read more

Went for the first time a few days ago. The owner is very nice and encouraged the kids to try the gyro meat. Great idea to get new customers for life! They tried it and they were hooked! The food was very good and fresh. ** The only wish for me is that they would offer salad instead of fries for a healthier option with my meal special at lunch. read more

Best hummus in town!!!! This is a small place in Avalon Park. The food is so good I drive from Lake Nona to get some hummus! The owner is awesome and will do everything so the customers are happy. My husband had the gyro wrap, and he really like it. Everything is super fresh! They have several flavors of hummus: original, avocado, sun dried tomatoes, jalapeno, black beans. The avocado one is my favorite! It's so light and fresh! read more

I find it crazy to see that there are actually bad reviews about this place. I have ate here many times and love the food and customer service. read more

In town on travel from Texas and happened to find this little gem through Yelp! The chicken souvlaki was amazing and the price point is perfect. I highly recommend avalon pockets to anyone travelling to Orlando. If you live in Orlando and haven't tried it yet you should. read more

This is the BEST gyros we've found in the U.S. The taste is perfect, the meat portion is spot on, the home made sauce they use is amazing and the customer service is excellent. We have to drive 45 minutes to pick up gyros from here but it's well worth the long drive! My wife & I both love eating here! They deserve 5 stars and the "Best Gyros in the United States" award!! read more

Had the chicken over rice platter with hummus and the garlic sauce , drove from cocoa beach definitely coming back . Prices were good and the food was great . read more

The falafel is the best I've tasted in Orlando: better than Cedar's and better than Paramount. The hummus is also very good. The only thing is the restaurant itself. It used to be decorated much nicer and now it looks like it should be a Chinese take out place. read more

Great lunch deal, Portions were definitely filling. Meat was not very well flavored and a bit bland but the fries were delicious. Cashier was friendly and nice as well read more

Been to avalon pockets a couple of times and their food is delicious and cheap. I highly recommend their chicken souvlaki wrap and its very yummy and filling. The pita wrap was fresh and soft. I also tried their pita chips and black bean hummus. Their pita chips was crisp but I didnt particular care for the bean hummus it lacked flavor to me. read more

I stopped in tonight because I was craving a gyro and was overly impressed by the young woman who took my order. It was my first time at Avalon Pockets and her patience and advice enhanced the entire experience. read more

First time here. Greek Salad was a little disappointing for a Mediterranean restaurant. Gyro was average. Good service.

Good small eatery. Very friendly staff. Authentic mid eastern food

The owner and his family are super friendly! When I was new to the area they were helpful and informative. The good is tasty! The falafel I'd definitely my favorite, but the King Tut platter is good as well. read more

Yummy as always! I crave their Avocado Hummus it is so good! Their gyros are always fresh and delicious!

I live in Avalon Park and I think I'll become a regular. It's fresh, good, homemade and the staff is friendly.

Great place to enjoy home style Mediterranean food. Our host was very hospitable. We walked in there a few minutes before breaking fast in Ramadan and he quickly brought us our food just in time for the evening prayers. The food was great. I highly recommend that you give it a try. read more

NEW OWNERS !! I'm shocked. When I walked into the restaurant nothing had changed except for a few staff members. The new man at the front was nice and I ordered my gyro and a side of falafel with extra sauce. I noticed the gyro went up to $6.99 from $4.99 and the sauce had a different taste along with the falafel. The meat portion in the gyro was substantially less, so I decided to asked a staff member about the food and I was told the owner Mamdu sold Avalon Pockets about a week ago. The food and the prices got a hit, but I would like to know where he is going next because his food was good. I would still come here to eat but the portions can't be so little. A good family place and before you couldn't beat the price, but $6.99 for a small gyro, smh. So don't get mad at Mamdu he isn't there anymore it's new owners and their new style. read more

I've eaten here probably twenty or more times, mainly because it's a two minute drive from my house in Avalon. The food is average, plain and simple. If you don't know any better than good for you, but there are plenty of great places to get greek/Mediterranean food on the east side of Orlando and this isn't one of them. I'll still keep coming back because I'm lazy. read more

I've always had a positive experience when eating here. The staff have been kind and the food delicious. The pita chips are really good and they serve huge portions of them. The gyro is great and I always have extra meat after since they put so much on it, so I combine it with rice and veggies for another lunch the next day. I highly recommend them. read more

I love non-chain restaurants in this one is no exception.humus is very good, in the former space of Milano's overall a very good take on a not so often found cuisine in Orlando I would recommend trying this read more

The real deal. Haven't tasted such good middle eastern fare anywhere outside the Middle East! Lamb and rice stuffed grape leaves roasted with tomatoes, not oily. Hummus as it should be - nutty, not sweet. Fresh baked pita. Yum! Oh, and the portions are generous and prices low. read more

I've been to Avalon Pockets 3 times, once for lunch and twice for dinner. It's a really great place, especially if you're tired of the same old subs and burgers. The food is all made from scratch and made on the spot. It's really not a fast food place. I waited 20 minutes for lunch and about 15 for dinner. It's all depends how busy they are. I like the music but I would love to see more of a Middle Eastern decor. The food is a good quantity for the price you pay. It's cute, small and clean. I think they would benefit more if they had a larger staff, but like I said before it's made from scratch, so either you want it fast or you want it good. I am really happy that they are there in Avalon, it's a nice mix to the group of other restaurants. Lunch time was very crazy busy so I wasn't surprised to wait 20 minutes, dinner was ok not too busy. I highly recommend this place, but don't expect a fast food wait, meat can only cook so fast, lol. Good things are worth waiting for! read more

Very good food and friendly owner who took our order and served us. Food was delicious. We ordered a couple of gyros and some falafel. He wasn't familiar with the Yelp discount that popped up but was willing to offer us the discount when I told him it was because of Yelp that we came. Unfortunately, he forgot to apply the discount before he ran my card, so we agreed that some free baklava would make up for it. The baklava was delicious too! Can't wait to go back. read more

Great hospitality. Great Lebanese food with an interesting twist! Will go back again and again. I advice you to try it out!!!

The food is good, but not for the prices they are charging. Avalon platter went from 12.99 to 16.99 that too much of a jump. Seem most of there prices have gone up from $2.50 to $4.00. I believe i just paid for my last visit. read more

As a busy mom and wife, I am always a fan of something fast and easy that is healthy for my family. I realize that "fast food" is "fast food", however, I will never set foot in this establishment again. Since I have never eaten there before I asked the owner, who took my food order, about the hummus, tsaziki sauce, and several other items. She especially emphasized that the hummus and tsaziki were hand made at the restaraunt. I ordered and paid for an extra 4oz order of the hummus with an extra side of pita chips. What I got was a 2 oz portion (I know this because it was in a plastic container with "2oz" imprinted on the bottom) and no extra pita chips. Tthe hummus would have been better if she had gone to a name Brand grocery store, (ie, Publix or even Aldi) and purchased their brand. There was no flavor of ground chick peas, tahini, or lemon. Our favorite part of eating Gyros is the tsaziki sauce. Who doesn't love that stuff!!! Once again, no homemade flavor. It tasted like something that was poured out of a jar. I have no problem paying for something, as long as I know what I'm getting. I definately did not expect what I got! So sorry. I love to support the local businesses in my neighborhood, however, I am afraid I can not support this one. read more

So glad we found this place! Delicious food for a fair price. Staff is super friendly. The Hubs and I got falafel and a chicken souvlaki wrap and shared an order of hummus and pita chips. I had a bite of my husband's falafel, which was crispy on the outside and flavorful and soft on the inside. My chicken souvlaki was moist and savory. The pita chips...OMG THE PITA CHIPS. They are deep-fried nuggets of pita bread that retain their softness and are sprinkled with some kind of spice that just brings everything together. The real kicker was $1 fountain drinks. Where else can you get that? With free refills, to boot! I got the iced tea and discovered it was flavored with peach (which he does by boiling peach in with the tea). So good and so fresh! It's nice to have a place to go that's not in the hubbub of Waterford. read more

It was delicious. It's for an acquired taste so one who eats there should have an appreciation for humble yet extraordinary tastes.

Really great for take out or casual dining. Wonderful food, I am not vegan but I love the vegan platter. We have also gotten the gyro and gyro meat platter which is great. Great prices, great service. Atmosphere is okay, but the owner always makes us smile. Baklava is amazing. Hummus is great, tiziki is great. Definitely recommend. read more
